The country is in a bad place. Such a shame. Waiting to see the neighbor about her house. Missed her twice. They were painting the outside.

It looks like it might be a ‘hot summer’ hopefully not as bad as '67.

Has anyone used these 1 foot cube grow bags? Holds about 7 gallons. I’m gonna get 4 and try them next round. Peace y’all!

Is it necessary to pre-rinse Promix like coco? My garden shop finally got tired of me asking and they carry it now. Apparently I wasn’t the only one.:cowboy_hat_face:

Promix does not need rinsing - good to go as is.
But, I throw a lot of other stuff in just like everybody else…

I got a new bale. No rinse. Mine is the HP M. High porosity with myco in it too. High porosity means it holds water well but also absorbs it fast as where regular peat moss repels water for a bit. They use some sort of wetting agent.

My plants have been weak looking compared to when I had fresh mix. I add EWC and some Ocean Forest soil or compost myself. Then my dry nutes and microbes when needed.

PRO-MIX HP

HP - high porosity

With its high perlite content, PRO-MIX HP provides a great growing environment to growers looking for a significant drainage capacity, increased air porosity and lower water retention. The added benefit of fibrous peat moss and coarse perlite makes this formulation ideal for growers who require a superior-quality product adapted to their needs for watering flexibility and crop seasonality.

hold less water with more air

all the best

I have been using ProMix BX or HP for quite a while now.
All I add is little dolomite lime, some perlite and vermiculite.
The HP has more perlite so I do not add as much to HP as I do with the
BX. They both come with some dolomite lime already, about enough for 3 or 4 months of growing, but I add a little more anyway.
I generally use the BX or HP straight out of the bales for all of my veggies, flowers and herbs.
Works well for me.

Lol, ha, you’re right. When I first bought it a few years ago I was told what I bought had a wetting agent. I remember looking at it last year and wondering where I got that, because now I remember reading that last year.

Maybe I was mislead or just misinformed the first time I bought it. Lol.

I have it again and it worked great for me! Much better than Sunshine #4 mix.

Thanks for reminding me…doh! lol

for me that has way to many sticks and bark

get acidic fast it you are not careful

pro-mix is easy to work with

a couple of drops of Ivory liquid soap work as a wetting agent

all the best

I just ordered 5 gal square pots on Amazon, they have slots on the corners for stakes to fit in. Gonna try them out w some tomatoes in the garden first. But being able to put the stakes into the corners should be a nice feature.

Cool design!

One minor caution, you might need to have the bags shaded as back bags can ‘heat up’ in strong sunlight and overheat the roots.

They don’t seem to heat up nearly as bad as a plastic one. The fabric helps keep them much cooler than plastic. Somebody else just got a bunch of square pots. Wonder why they’re going square now?

Oh, duh-uh… it was Oleskool above, lol… I’ll just slip out of here and go stand in the corner a while.
