School me on octopots!

Just now realised Octopots existed. I have seen some members here that are using them. They seem really cool and easy to use. I would love it if some octopot users would chime in. How much extra height is needed from light to plant? Is it only coco compatible? Is a 3 gallon octopot enough for full cycle? I currently grow in fabric pots with soil. Usually its fox farm soils(happy frog and ocean forest). I use so called organic nutes in flower when needed( Nectar for the gods). Im not against salts, just trying to grow the best bud possible with descent yields. Do you water from the top until the roots hit the reservoir? It seems like a passive hydro system to me! Are people using living organic soil in the bag and just feeding with water in the reservoir? Please school me, as I am highly interested. Happy growing with much love!

I’ve been getting very interested in them as well, and @Jetdro has been extremely helpful. Check out his current grow as he’s about to flip them to flower.

Lol ever since I found his grow I’ve been looking into them

same here. they interest me, but even the 3 gallon units are 12x12x6. I only have a 2x4 grow tent capability (including reservoir, no spare space available, period). that means I have to have either a. run 4 units and have space for a large enough reservoir to last 2-3 weeks, or run 6 units and really struggle to find a reservoir that fits a 1x2x? space that can last 2-3 weeks at a time.

I got six Octopots.in a box. But, I have to wait for the grow now to finish. Using rdwc for a few 4 years and time for a change .I think the Octo’s will be easier to manage. No more water flowing 24/7. And the Octows let me play in the dirt again… Like the old days. lol

You not thought about having a res under your octopots? Maybe have to do it with 2 (nothing stopping you sticking a couple M25X15MM sealing glands and a bit of hosepipe to make 2 become one) but check Ikea for “klamtare” boxes. They’ll do exactly what you want with no more space needed outside the tent

Get the 6 gallon set up that’s the best bet
I have 4 in a 40 inches x 40 inches tent
60 inches high
I run a scrog net to control the hight
Or they can get big
I would run 9 plants in 3 gallon fabric bag I would at my best 12 to 16 oz
Now4 plants over 20 z Less plants better yield and fat ass buds on my first run it is only getting better
@Gardenartus who got us all started in these things has pulled 19 z from 1 plant and this is no shit story she and the Octopots are that good
@Jetdro has got these things dialed and running like a well oiled machine
The 3 gallon won’t cut it

I don’t fill the bag to the full 6 gallons I use 5 this helps me get a bit more ceiling hight I have 24 inches between canopy and the lights but my last grow the lemon gas was touching the lights had to supper crop all the branches

And it’s as easy as fuck to use fill it and forget it more or less

There’s a Learning curve but not by much

We have figured out ( best practice)
Start from clones that are well rooted ( don’t let the roots spiral in the solo cup need to be loose 1 maybe 2 weeks in solo cups )

Seeds take too long and to root clones directly in the Octopots can fail and take too long

Feed every time you fill the Rez

And a whole bunch of LITFA
No reason to mess with it

I have to force myself to stay aw from it lol

These things are well designed and worth the money

I held out for 3 years I should have bought them sooner

If you are a good grower before octopots you’ll be a great grower almost over night lol

Best mine I ever made

A friend of ours (Braq ) on open grow uses LOS soil and is killing it
I choose to use pro mix and happy frog 50/50 blend there’s no fertilizer in it and I control the feed that way @ that’s how I’ve see @Gardenartus do hers ( open grow forum )

klamtare = totes for use here in the States  I would need to have a float level limit switch kick on a pump if i had the reservoir underneath the octopots (instead of gravity drain as from what i have seen elsewhere). I would also need to make a stand for the 3x 6 gal units as well. If i weren’t so restricted on space, i think I would definitely go this route. I am just glad to have a 2x4 tent available now.

24x48 tent would only fit 2 Octopots but my last run 2 of the Octopots yielded 13 zips ( Lemmon gas ) less verity but one hell of a yield
I believe jet pulled 2lbs from 4 Octopots in A 48 x 48 area

I referenced Klamtare because of the sizing bro. Will literally take up the tent floor space bar about 15cm front and back and about 4cm to play with at the sides. Would nicely house 2 octopots each but it would require a pump feed like you say. Just throwing ideas out there I really like what I see of the octopots too

too early to math Papa, please forgive me.

The octopots @Reactorpwr referenced are 12x12x6" mate. On those measures you’d get 4 in (tightly)

I like supporting small businesses…but this looks like it could be a pretty sweet and easy DIY.

May have to retire the ol’ dwc for a while and give these octos a shot…airstone crapping out on me last run was scary
