Seed Distribution Alternative

The purpose of this thread is to determine if a secondary distribution channel is required to supplement the other normal operations of OG. There are several reasons seed runs would not qualify for co- op distribution. An example is the Durban open pollination that was done outdoors, in April . The options to help the ones producing seeds would be.

  1. Simply providing flips , envelopes and stamps to growers completing a run.

2.Connecting growers to commitee members that would package and distribute the seeds for them using materials donated.

  1. Potentially with enough volume sending out a packet occasionally containing many packs at once to simplify shipping, again using donated materials and postage.

@Misterbee has been this link and sent many seeds out. A small committee could be formed along with him to ensure operations are ongoing even if one or a couple members are offline for a bit.

The full intent is to take some of the pressure off of the normal distribution heros as well as a pipeline to hand out seeds form all sources, including disallowed runs and growers who dont want the hassle and expense of sending thier seeds out.
Comments are welcome , as well as volunteers. Donations of Materials and Stamps will be accepted at a later date depending on member feedback. Cheers and many thanks to all growers and potential helpers.

Would need to differentiate between countries and have a maximum signup limit, idk how y’all would figure out how many go to what country/international if its not one of the major ones that are represented…

Then would need to differentiate between stamps bought

$ donated would be cool, but from seeing before my time…i think someone scammed this place big time in regards to that?

Just some thoughts

I would ask for pics of seeds a count something to be able to verify

Also ps… i have a ton of seeds to send out just no shipping materials will be looking for them soon

Valid points. Initially we would not need distributors in each country. We all know how to send flips in letters. A running total of stamps and supplies recieved and then used is a great idea. As far as security against a scam, we could use supplies as each run develops without holding more than one or two runs of supplies. Just enough to service the runs about to go out.

Yah, just thinking of cost of stamps is different depending on where they are going

I think thats why its easy to have a distributor like the co-op

International stamps are the same price to send anywhere. We lately have 5 runs not compatible with the co-op.

International is same price as domestic stamps?

For example if the producer is Canadian they would need more $ to send International than domestic.

By “having a distributor,” i didnt mean use the co-op, i understand why this thread is being made…

I meant have a distributor in each country where the majority of signups would be to negate the cost of international vs domestic stamps…

Thanks for making this thread @Hashpants .

I know when I get a big seed run done OFF co-op distribution I try my best but costs for postage have DOUBLED since I started giving beans away.

I the past I would post “Help needed for distribution” on the thread that had the documented grow but that always limits to those that are actually paying attention.

This thread can be a lifeline to help get genetics out.

Even though I’m in :canada: I’ve had :us: OG’s order stamps from CanadaPost’s website and get it delivered right to me which allowed for me to get so many packs out the year I learned to accept that it’s okay to ask for help.. (mostly).

For our initial purposes its gonna be easier to send supplies to a member or the grower in the area where the seeds are made.

Canada costs in CAD:

:canada: $1.24 for under 30g if bought in a pack.
:us: $1.75 for under 30g if you bought in a pack.
:globe_with_meridians: $3.65 for under 30g if you bought in a pack.

Canada doesn’t add up for me. :us: does because of the volume of :us: OG’s, and :globe_with_meridians: is just butt-sex without lube now.

Yep @Virga but I still feel it’s important to include EVERYONE in give a ways and distribution.

Ironically the last 3 times i did a draw 2 were international and the 3rd was canadian… still not cheap but it’s worth it when they grow em even if they don’t remember to tag me to follow along lol.

This would be AWESOME!
I’m going to have a whole mess of Bodhi’s Pleiadian Love Nest F3 beans here in about a week that I’d love to get out to OG if there was interest…
My main issue is Time. Between the family, work and garden I’m very limited.
A system like this would get even more great genetics out there!

I have a bunch of Hieme Cheeba Durbans i open pollinated in April outdoors. It would be nice to have 4 strains to send on the first wiki. :v:

The way it works for me is “I am going to spend $100 on shipping supplies today and they run out when they run out.”

A simplification of this process would be good in many ways including more giveaways.

If it’s useful to anyone, I would be glad to share a pythonlabel printing script I use to print address labels. It’s pretty handy if you’re sending out 15-20 at the same time.

You can tie it to your address list, it has Jinja templating support, adds qr code links ect
