The real question is guy’s if MOM is having issues and problems !!
Can’t we do something to help her out?

just to clarify, does this mean that if I have signed up normally and paid momontherun, I missed the boat on those gorokas?
I didn’t contact you because I didn’t mind waiting for distribution, but if I can only get them through his site, I might not be able to afford to pay both motr and now sebring for shipping.

Just trying to figure this out, because I’m very interested in working with the goroka.

My assumption was that they are still in stasis, just waiting for US distribution to resume.
I’m guessing this is still the case, but people have the option of getting them from sebring right away?

@Swe-can, I second that, if she´s asking for some time to sort things out she deserves it with all our comprehension and gratitude. If she wants to continue, are we going to fire her? Not me … no|nullxnull

Nah, I said in the goroka thread if you’re in the US and haven’t talked to me, send me a PM.

I don’t have any Goroka Highlands beans yet for the UK/EU - are they en-route just now @Worcestershire_Farms .?
If any breeders of preservation seeds want to send them directly to me ( Uk/Eu distributor.) then shoot me a message .?!
Thanks.
Happy growing,
Gaz

I would be down to do what I could to help with this.

It sucks to be having a crappy time, but it feels great when you find out someone cares. It alleviates some of the stress.

well, i received some things from @MomOnTheRun the middle of the year in the case it was the December box, she ended up sending it directly to me, even though I am not from the USA area. inside you had many SS and also some blue tara, there were many other things also several of them I was not in the list, some that I remember at the moment are drangon blood hasplant, skunk 91, etc.

So even though she has some problems that @shadey commented on and those are the problems that we know, imagine the ones that we don’t know   and even so she continues to distribute the seeds and even if it is with some delay the seeds will arrive and calm, the seeds are safe and stored correctly, of the 8 skunk 91 I received 8 germinated and it has been a few years since the seed run was made.

I think the @Mongobongo sent some seeds to her recently, maybe she spoke to her, she can give some news.

That’s all I needed to hear. I am sure others like @nube that were wondering what was going on is glad to know too.

Can we arrange to auction off some stuff to raise funds to help her out?

There is one thing we should have all learned from growing by now and that is PATIENCE.

If you are in a super rush to get (free) seeds you are doing it all wrong!

Yeah, could you imagine taking on all US members and organize their addresses, and making new accounts for money, buying packaging and doing it stealth like she did? I admitted early on that I have no business taking on such an organizational nightmare. Not to mention what you’re actually agreeing to do in the bigger picture. I can’t imagine anyone doing as good a job as she has done and feel the need to gift her extra when I can.

Hey @Pedro_Bann, how are you brother? Prayers and vibes sent and please feel free to PM me any time. Seriously. peace

anyone volunteering as a continental seed distributor for this site should be applauded. Growers put a lot of hard work and $ in to the seed runs, but so do the distributors. It sounds like MOTR has her plate full right now, and she has proven herself as trustworthy time and time again. People are understandably anxious to get their seeds, however anyone who is waiting for any seeds from a seed run to do anything quickly or is in NEED of them is delusional in the first place. waiting a little longer for something you really want is a good test of patience, and a little networking will get you a long way in this place, also.

Glad to hear something on the subject unfortunately it’s not good for MOTR. I wish I could teleport myself up there to help her. I think we’re all pretty patient just kinda sucks not knowing what the situation is I had figured that she was having something going on that wasn’t good because we haven’t heard anything from her. I’d love to help I just wonder if sending everything to Alaska out in nowhere land is the best way to distribute in the US I just wonder if this is the safest way to go about this too many places for something to happen and a bunch of stuff get confiscated in my opinion but I m still new around here and trying to figure out how the site works. Hope she gets sorted out and back into a safe situation ready for winter. Like I said I’m new around here and I know she’s got a wonderful reputation for good reason. I’m in no way speaking critically of her she has been nothing but nice to me just seems she could use some help at the moment and can’t help but think I could have taken some of the burden off her back if I’d offered my service sooner. I’m rambling probably said too much already just curious if I can help.

Blue Tara f2s are smelling so good I think I am going to try and make some f3s and work this line into a breeding tool for myself. She has a sweet candy grapes and berry smell going that is just so good. Thanks for making these @schmarmpit.

I can help with sending seeds if needed. I am in no way in a rush to get seeds. I probably will shut down for awhile.

I’m just offering if I can help. MOTR has done a great job and I don’t want the job, just offering to help for the interim.

We all hope MOTR is doing well, and I think we all have patience. My biggest concern is that she has (had?) thousands of packs of seeds that were scheduled to go out this spring, and then more that were scheduled to go out this fall. If a tree fell on her house, it’s pretty likely those packs are not in a fridge.

So, though we all have patience, those seeds are slowly but surely losing viability in the 6+ months they’ve been unrefrigerated. They’re probably OK for now, but there needs to be a plan moving forward on how to rescue them and get them onto their destinations. Viability starts decreasing the moment they’re born, and decreases rapidly the longer they’re out of the cold. After a year, reduction in viability can be as much as 20%, so this is a reasonable thing to discuss.

@MomOnTheRun when you login, know that we all appreciate your work but we’re also here to help. All you gotta do is ask or tell somebody you can’t do it, then figure out a plan to get those seeds out to the distros and move the responsibility onto another group of people, hopefully with contingency plans when life inevitably happens again to one or more of them.

Also, to the assertion that the site leadership and administration has nothing to do with the coop seed runs, I would counter that that’s objectively not the case. I’m not interested in arguing or people taking my disagreement personally, but I figured I’d write down some of my thoughts.

Part of the reason people are elevated to leader is so that they can lead when shit like this breaks down. And the site, as well as people receiving coop seeds, certainly all benefit from the positive energy the seed runs bring. Instead of the OG site, staff, leaders and admin not having a vested interest in the coop seed runs, I would counter that they have a fully vested interest in helping the coop seed runs continue and in resolving the distribution channel breakdowns.

I’m not calling anybody out specifically, nor throwing anybody under the bus. However, I don’t understand why there hasn’t been any public response about this after

  1. site functionality was created or enabled to accommodate the coop signups;

  2. many of the site leaders have been involved directly in the coops and promoted to leader or moderator titles in what appears (to us mere mortals) to be at least in part a result of that positive involvement in the seed runs;

and

  1. the site’s leadership or administration actively reached out to breeder(s) to get their signoff on the seed runs using their genetics.

All of that to me underscores just how much those seed runs mean to the community, how valuable they’ve been to the site’s growth, and what they contribute to bringing in page views, ad revenue, and patreon support.

But perhaps I’m in the minority in this view? Either way, leaders and admins, please let us know what you’re doing to help resolve this issue.

big :heart_decoration: and :peace_symbol:

I just want to throw it out there that even though some leaders admins etc have been involved in the seed runs it is merely out of personal interest in those runs and or there desire to help the community by making sure the site runs in a way that is friendly towards our goals. These runs and coops have and are set up between members here and the site itself really has no responsibility in regards to managing the seed runs or those involved. We’re all very concerned about motr and there are a number of reasons she could be Mia beyond what we already know. She is for sure trying to fix the whole tree I to house situation but maybe the internet is down and she simply can’t get on here. Idk but at least it’s cold in Alaska and I’ve germinated seeds that were stored improperly for many years with high success. Hopefully this all works out but these are the risks we take when we put all are eggs in one basket so to speak. I think the best route from here forward is people who complete seed runs for the community should handle the mail outs them selves and organize shipping funds with the people involved. This would mean alot less chance of multiple things getting lost and it would reduce the amount of postal trips people like motr have to make. I know this will reduce the amount of people who want to do seed runs because of the burden of organizing all the mail outs but it might work better in the long run.
I’m sure those who are able have reached out to her directly but not many of us actually know each other or have a way to communicate outside of here.
