Seed vs clone from dispensary?

Have a question. If you had the opportunity to pick up a clone from a reputable clone company like archive, would you?

My thinking is as a new grower I don’t have the nose yet to “pick” the correct phenotype from the variation of plants from a regular seed pack. But if I picked up a blue dream clone or lemon tree or even rainbow belts v2, I’d have a clone of the exact phenotype for that strain.

Maybe it would help pick out better plants when selecting the best phenotype/growth structure? Maybe it’s just a waste of money?

I would say you could actually be better off with a proven clone at first. If you can find one that you want for a decent price. I wouldn’t spend more than $100. If you ask around here you might be able to find one for free or the cost of shipping

Don’t even mess with seeds if you live near Archive and spots you can get legit clean clones for fair prices. How many lights are you running? Are you going to buy and hunt 5-10 packs of everything? Growing just clones will be way more enjoyable.

Clones can be an awesome representation of the strain. Most reputable breeders have searched large numbers of seeds to select the clone they have chosen. This greatly reduces the time and efforts needed to find a good representation in the strain you’re after. Often times the seeds are available for roughly 100 to 200 a pack from a reputable breeder. Normally the clones are on the lower end of this price tag and you you’re getting the best representation. The only downside is the growing starts the day you receive it. You cannot push pause from that moment on you’re growing that strain the moment you stop growing it you no longer have it. The benefit of seeds are you’re not growing until you are ready and start those seed packs. I highly recommend everybody try one high-quality clone and compared the results to their seed starts… in my opinion. It’s easier to be successful with a high-quality clone. The numbers are on your side. Cheers !!!

Another thing, with access to Archive and other legit spots, but people really like stuff from Archive, you can trade for cuts you can’t find near you with people on here. You can go pickup a clone for $30-$50 ($80 if you want that Rainbow Belts 2.0 haha) and trade someone for a cut they paid $250 for. Best of luck on your growing journey!!

One could also flip them and make some money.

You could do the scumbag thing and resell them for ridiculous prices, but that’s super lame. You could easily find people who will shoot you money for those clones from Archive and then get them for just the drive there and shipping though. They come big enough to take snips right away from Archive. Get each clone for gas and $10ish bucks to ship one out. Sounds like a sweet deal. Haha

Trying to sell clones for a profit is gray area. Ranks right up there with F 2 seed runs for profit generally frowned upon. There is exceptions same as seeds and trade or giving them away is generally accepted but not always lol Cheers !!!

Disagree.
Clones are not autos. Top and you have a copy.
I have grown from seed that will beat a breeder cut socal clone because the clone was another low yield tasty boring high gushers junk.

I don’t understand @GYOweed ? I never said clones were autos. The fact is you would be taking somebody else’s work and selling it for profit as a copy …

You misunderstood you’re growing it from the moment you get it doesn’t matter if it’s a flower or veg you’re still spending money and time in the garden…

Edit- I’m holding 16 clones now… believe me it takes time money and space. The moment I stop they’re dead haha

Btw how would i go on the sell someone elses work if they sold it to me in the 1st place? Like sell F2 or a clone of a clone? Im not sure what’s wrong with that unless i have a signed beneficial contract.
I would love to make F2 or sell copy clones if it pisses someone off why not? They didn’t Engineer a car or patent something that takes brain cells to do. God bless hazeman.

There will always be people like you that think that buying a clone or seed pack allows them to profit from someone else’s work… there’s a moral consequence to this not a legal dispute…. To each their own :+1:t3:

I’ve been thinking about becoming a clone daddy and sell clones and maybe create some type of a website cuz I have clones that is not common in my area and not in dispensary so I’ve been thinking about selling them for $50+ I just want to know some opinions I have a better shot selling clones then I would with flower.
