Then you know what to do :axe:

Cool thread.

I am curious as to why the autoflower plants werent eliminated immediately?

Love the thin leaves!

 Do you mean hermie?

Sorry, the ones showing flowering under veg conditions without a light change

I got you, I just didn’t make a decision on that one, since it didn’t full-on flower until after I moved to 12/12 (I suspect it may have if given a bit more time but don’t know). The bright side is that it flowered before the girl was at all flowering, I collected that pollen and have it stored, I removed that one, so there won’t be much from that guy in the seeds, if anything. My original thinking was that a “fast flower” may be a good trait.

I also have cuts of everything, so I may take my favorite boy and this girl to do seeds after this one.

Here are some pics of the herm outside because it was a sunny day :sunglasses:

Wow, yeah, thats pretty much exactly how i figure you would have to do it because its definitely a plant that has at least some outlier traits

Would be amazing to tie it back in later
is that an RIL i think?

They are beautiful in the natural light

It could just be part of the gene pool or a pot stress response  likely the latter

Ukufu flowering in the veg hours outdoor due too pot stress response

I have no idea, I am hoping as they grow people here may start making some guesses at what it may be. This is my first landrace grow, so I am winging it . Having a great time though!

Let me quickly summarize what I saw, with the benefit of hindsight.

Of 6 plants, one boy and one “female” showed clear signs of beginning flowering in the long light cycle. The girl would only show those two initial “hairs” but in multiple spots. I put them into 12/12 shortly after.

The boy flowered a fair amount - but it kind of did a “I am going to drop 9 or 10 pods” then it looked like it was taking a step back to do a normal flower. Like it put out some quick pollen and then turned normal boy. I removed it after that initial burst of pollen.

The herm wasn’t quick to flower, it just showed those early girl parts. Now it is doing more male than female, but still putting out plenty of both parts. You can see in the pics up there.

That is a really important point I just forgot to bring up.

When these were seedlings, I blasted them with iso alcohol. A hideous accident that left half the plants topped. It was an enormous stress event.

Totally makes sense that could have had that effect. Interesting to see how the plants responded, like the ladyboy thought it was about to die so spread its genetics

On another note, these are super equatorial, so light timing well outside the 12/12 range would be very new to them and could have impacted flowering as well. I read recently that 11:30/12:30 can be great for flowering these kinds btw

Happened to be looking to some equatorial landrace seeds this afternoon just for kicks and noticed this note on an Acapulco seed pack:

“Sudden light changes from 18/6 to 12/12 will sometimes cause the male plants to throw pistils for a few days at the start of flowering before fully expressing as male. Slowly transitioning from 18/6 to 12/12 (a half hour per day) or starting at 13/11 veg can avoid this stress response.”

Interesting to encounter this note, hope it’s helpful :palm_tree:

This a case of two different spray bottles to close together in your immediate work area?
Cuz I’ve made this mistake

Yes, my friend, this is precisely what happened :sunglasses:

Ok, I would say now the boys are ready to start dropping pollen, a couple of pics.

I can also confirm that my cuts of the only girl here have rooted  :seychelles: :v:

Oh yes. I’ve killed many a clone this way, lol.

Ok, pollen from all of the boys has been applied as evenly as I could. The one female is the only one left standing, although I have collected pollen at the ready and cuts of all original plants.

Being that all of the plants showed some sign of intersex, it is safe to assume that my massive isopropyl disaster combined with light stress caused the issues. For that reason, I am not leaving anyone out of the gene pool.

Why you change the avatar?

No good reason at all, just putting one of my pugs on there!

That messes with me too at first  it’s like shaving a beard off or something

That’s funny, I hadn’t really thought about it. That was a picture of a hand-painted logo somebody made for me that I keep hanging in the basement from like 10 years ago now. I thought it made me seem too legit or like I had a company or something which is obvious I am just a beginner once you know me I guess haha

I hope this picture of Oliver gives “animal and family loving, joy seeker, laid back type of human” vibes. And I love the blue color too.
