Shoulder Issue chat

Honestly, I am the holdup currently. Lots of doctors visits lately dealing with torn rotate cuffs in both shoulders. I am hoping by middle of the week to have the info over to the online store that is going to carry my line. I am about 4 weeks behind where I should be including the next set of testers I wanted out by mid January.

Soon…

Get better. Everything else will move along more smoothly after you do.

Good luck with it all. That is a painful injury. Been there, done that, but not so bad.

How’d that all work out for you? I had a tear repaired in the left shoulder in 2008 another in the right in 2010. It is painful, but it is just the shoulder, everything else will work good so you can do many of your normal activities while you recover.

For me, it didn’t stop there. Both rotator cuffs so badly trashed in 2014 I could see it in the x-rays and I had known x-ray to be useless for that up until then. I had a total reverse joint installed in the right shoulder because it was my dominant arm. Once that was done, my left started feeling better since it no longer had to do absolutely everything. Still gotta get that one done, waiting for Medicare next year.

Getting a second opinion in the next few weeks. I was told I need complete shoulder replacement, and my main doc disagrees based on the MRI reports. In other words, the first doc and MRI people are in complete disagreement so we are moving on to someone else…

Keep us up to date, shoulders are very tricky and amazingly few doc’s are truly good at them…once your cut brother your either fixed or fucked…for life.

Excellent idea. That disagreement is surely cause for concern. If you do get a replacement, be aware the recovery time is almost twice as long as an r/c repair. Most tears are repairable by making 3 short incisions and inserting thin precision instruments and a camera. That is painful as hell, especially the first 24-48 hours. Recovery is very quick compared to open surgery since the healing is only in a handful of small areas. If you stick to the doctor’s orders, you can be good as new in less than a year. Healing time varies, due in great part to how hard you work your shoulder during the long months of healing.

My replacement surgery was the single most painful experience of my life, more than even kidney stones (2nd most painful!). There was an insurance problem with some of my pain meds. I ended up with the most painful weekend I ever spent as well. If you get replacement surgery, make sure you and your doctor get your medications worked out before your surgery and you’ll be fine.

Stick to your doctor’s orders and it will still be 2 years until you can say your shoulder feels normal.

I had my reverse shoulder done in October 2014. The only thing about it I don’t like is I have very limited movement behind my back, due to the shape of the reverse joint, other than that, I have very good movement with that arm.

Sorry to disagree @Kraven, but while you can be fucked for life from shoulder being cut open, there is no guarantee the fix will last for life. Both of my r/c repairs failed to provide lifelong relief. The left shoulder repair lasted 2 years. Just before the repair on my right shoulder I got a fresh tear in the left, less than a year, the right shoulder tore again

I’m sorry @Kraven, that was meant to be a joke, not a disrespect. I just meant to highlight your point of multiple surgeries in his future.

Yeah, what @Kraven said.

My artificial joint is 3.5 years old and it is actually better than that shoulder has been since the mid '90s. The R/C repairs didn’t last, making them actually unsuccessful in the long run, while I consider my implant to be very successful.

 ya didn’t kinkle me bro…I can only report on my professional experience and the general locations I have worked, my comment was just a reminder that the shoulder joint is the only joint in your body thats a free floating joint solely supported by muscle. That being the case its a very tricky joint to surgically access cleanly without disturbing the surrounding tissue which will form residual scar tissue and thats where the problem start. That joints A&P just doesn’t allow room for scar tissue, so there is an anatomic basis for the trouble from that point on. :peace:

Get better, get breeding, and i’ll get testing for you bro! @LED_Seedz

I got two orthopedics experts and one dental one. If you guys feel like coming to CR for surgery, i can arrange that and make it WAY CHEAPER for you guys. If you are doing it thru the Insurance company, i can talk to them so you get a rebate once you come back home. I am trying to start a little project of Medical Tourism.

Well I am old, and I broke my right shoulder quite badly a few years ago. I had ORIF surgery to repair joint. I still have limited rotation(I cannot raise my right arm straight up) and strength, but have zero pain. I have compensated by using my left arm more.
I do not anticipate any future surgery even though they should be able to “fix” it with general anesthesia- then forcing full rotation in order to free up restrictive scar tissue.
Not inclined to do this as I am functional as I am now. And most importantly NO PAIN!

Good luck @LED_Seedz

If it’s working don’t fix it!

Yep, to me it is not worth the risk of general anesthesia. Even though it is not an invasive surgical procedure.
I elect to leave well enough alone.

I do hope Pj @LED_Seedz goes thru it no problem. It’s good you don’t have any of that buddy. Big hug over the distance my good friend @Calyxander!

Harvesting everything on Saturday, i got a cousin that will be growing my 3 Bears OG that i sprouted and i told him to open an account at OG. We’ll see. He’s coming to help!

The day has come, even tho i can’t see many amber tric’s, 95% of them are plastic white and bent. Better to cut it now.
