đź’— Show off your gadgets, contraptions, artifacts, devices

:bulb: Hey Overgrow fam!

This thread is an open invitation to show off the nerdiest, wildest, most creative tools, devices, hacks, and homemade contraptions you’ve made (or adopted) for growing or enjoying cannabis.

Got a drip system that looks like it came from Star Wars?
A dehumidifier made from a vacuum cleaner and duct tape?
A 3D-printed grinder with built-in LEDs?
An intergalactic bong?
Something no one else understands, but you swear it improves the taste of your joint?

:point_right: Post a photo, tell us what it is, how you made it, and why you use it.
:point_right: Anything goes: growing gear, extraction tools, drying hacks, smoking/consumption tech… even lunar-aligned ritual devices if that’s your thing.
:point_right: The goal is to have fun, share inspiration, and spark ideas—because someone out there just might copy your setup.

Let’s make this thread a source of laughs, creativity, and good vibes between growers who know that DIY and weird science are part of the cannabis journey.

So yeah… show us your gadgets, no shame!

Very cool idea for a thread @defharo ! I love seeing everyone’s crazy ingenuity on here :love_you_gesture:.

I make holes in the sides of my old-school pots to improve the oxygenation of the substrate.

I do that with my containers, and when I water them, the water leaks everywhere lol

Hi, look at the raised edges of the holes. This prevents water from running down the sides. I drill at low speed until it heats up.

I’ve sometimes dehydrated fruit and vegetable peelings; this allows me to preserve their properties for a long time. I use it for substrate mixes. Ideally, for me, this process is done in the sun.

Nothing fancy but here’s my “had it laying around the house” cloning chamber. It’s easy and it works. You can cut down the light a little by putting some paper on top (if you use graph paper, people will think you are smart)… or go dual purpose & use it as a riser to get shorter plants closer to the light whilst cutting down light intensity on your cuttings inside at the same time. If you arrange things right its like it doesn’t take up any space in the veg area at all.
Kinda boring, but maybe it’ll help someone who’s trying to find space for cloning. :man_shrugging:

Cool drill you got

I took a lot of macro photos of my plants, with what I had at the time.

I have a small growing space (60x120cm), I like to move the lights closer to my plants and also add side lights, to air the space, mainly below the lights, I use flat computer fans, because this way they don’t take up space on the sides for the plants and I can move the lights much closer, in addition, these fans have a power regulator and are infinitely cheaper than any other standard for growing, on the other hand they are quite silent, at the same time, I have an extra extractor with two 12cm fans.

The flat fans are huge. I just started using one a month or so ago deff a game changer for space

I have the small ones that are 12cm and other large ones that are 21cm and 25cm, they are very good.

Come on! Another geeky one!
I’ve never watered my plants with mains water. I usually go to the mountains to collect spring water, and I take a walk along the way. This spring is 700 meters above sea level, and depending on the time of year, the pH can vary between 7.5 and 8.5. The average mineral concentration is EC 0.25. This water most certainly contains calcium, magnesium, and silicon.

Well, I store spring water at home, and it loses oxygen because it’s standing still. They also say that the molecular structure becomes disordered. I use agitators for irrigation mixtures. This way, I manage to re-oxygenate the water, integrate the nutrients very well, and perhaps, structure the disordered molecules.

Great topic!

I love to adapt and improvise, and I have a few things that can help more than they seem.

Here’s a simple one: I hang a tape measure on the LED. That way, I can see through the window and know if it has grown 2 cm or 12 cm. So I can easily know if I need to adjust the height or not.

Good morning! The tape measure is great.!

After each season, I remove the mulch from each pot to use the following season. I also save all the leaves and sticks.
To clean this material of any fungi, bacteria, etc., I enclose everything for a few days in an ozone generator, and I disinfect the grow tent while doing so. :yum:

I do this too.

I just hung a thing at the 10” sweet spot.

Hi! How long does it take to dry completely in the sun?

Hello, skins left in direct sunlight can dehydrate in 3-5 days, depending on the temperature. If you have space outside, I recommend keeping the skins in the sun on some kind of rack, adding new skins and collecting the ones that are ready. I then grind the skins into powder.
