Show Your Artwork

After being here almost 2 years, I’ve realized I’ve never started a thread until now. I’ve contributed enough in a few existing threads to where I could have started them, but alas, I have no threads here I’ve started.

I thought for a bit about what I could do for a topic when starting one. Numismatists came to mind, as I’ve collected coins since I was a young lad. Another thought was asking members about their collections of anything. Many people collect different things and I’m sure there would be some great answers to a thread titled,
“Show Us Your Collections”. There are quite a few guitarist’s here in this forum, but that choice has been done and many here have posted in. I was surprised to see so many people here who play music.

In the end I picked the topic about showing your Artwork.
To preface this, I should say that I have no artistic talents other than playing music, but my wife on the other hand is a phenomenal artist.

I have seen some of the artwork others here have posted, including some designs for T-shirts and as entries in our
yearly contests, and thought a thread devoted to showing off one’s artistic talents would be a worthy topic. After all, art work
was one of the three categories in this years 9 years of Overgrow Celebration contest.

Here are some pics done by my wife. She has been published many times, designed logo’s for the Rose Bowl in the past, and has a lot of her art posted in outdoor magazines. In our retirement years, she does two or three art shows each year as well as a larger number of craft shows combined with art shows.

Here is some of her work.

She does a lot of pet portraits for clients using mainly pastels and acrylics, but also dabbles in watercolors, ink, and pencil as well.

Wife’s Artwork - Pastels

Pastels - Compilation

She had noticed my obsession with a '52 Telecaster which is a
highly coveted piece of guitar history made by Fender in their formative years. I could never afford one with asking prices nowadays of 50k to 100k. She did the next best thing and drew this one for me with pastels from a pic she found online. She blew me away with this one.

We buy a table for five dollars a week, where on Saturdays, from 9 am through 1 pm she will sell off the excess veggies from our garden at our local small town farmers market, but does quite well selling her artwork as well. She had a local farmer last year that had seen her portfolio and asked if she could draw things other then pets. He asked about motorcycles. She told him with a good photo, she would do her best. Here is that one.

Rock Art - Acrylics

More Rock Art - Acrylics

Rock Art - Acrylics - Bobcat

More Acrylics on Rocks - Fox

Most of the above pics done with acrylics were painted on shale
rock which is a fairly smooth surface to paint on. However, nothing beats the smoothness of rocks found in the surf of Lake Michigan where the wave action makes them super smooth.
Every time we make a trip to Frankfort on Lake Michigan, we will bring back a few tote bags of rocks found in the surf.

Bunny Wabbit done on a rock worn smooth in Lake Michigan.

She even painted some table tops of small tables that were given to her or found in yard sales.

I could keep going but I believe I’ve already posted too many.
She always gets huge compliments of those that pick up a
finished drawing of ones beloved pet, many times of one that was done in remembrance of one that has passed. I’ve seen customers start to shed a tear or two when picking up a drawing of their beloved pet.

So don’t be shy. Post some pics of your artwork here for all to see and admire. I know a certain luthier here, @Strungthru , who could show off his luthier talents as they are also works of art. Open to all. Show us your artwork.

I’ve posted a few pics in the forum here and there but never
highlighted a thread to show off her talent which she has in abundance. She does not know I posted this yet, and I’ll wait a bit
for some comments and likes before I do. Is it any wonder that I brag about her abilities? I don’t think so. She is amazing.

Thanks so much @chronix for the compliment. Many times I’ll post soundcloud links to my music or youtube of which I have many times, but I wanted this one to be about the love of my life. 53 years together and the only thing we argue about is who loves the other more. Lucky in love.

As far as non guitar artwork, I don’t have much on my phone either, but I did find a few things.

Flight of doobies, like a flight of beers, but for sampling different strains with friends! I recommend 70mm ones so everyone doesnt get to stoned

Thanks! It was the last card I’ll be able to give to her. She passed away a couple of weeks ago. I’m just happy that it was a fun one, especially for a retired florist!
