Your definitely using it the right way in that SIP. The last thing you want is poor roots in that type of system! I love that sweet tangy smell. Never had to wear gloves using it. Cant say the same for the LAB serum. It smells like sour feet N cheese. ![]()
I got the half gallon in fridge to an a quart that was half molasses that googl said to do so hey gotta be true . Shiten me.
@BudLarfy good idea to use in sip
That’s wicked; I wonder if I can get my soil tested in the same way near me.
Thanks for the recs; I’ll definitely have to check these out.
I meant to post these on Friday right before I left, but check it out:
What do you guys think? I haven’t seen the curvy leaves before even online, let alone with just my own eyes. No idea what that is. Brown dots are calcium deficiency probably?
pH would be my guess from those symptoms
Yknow, I think you might be right. I’m in organic living soil, but I think the peat in my mix might just be too much for the microbes etc. to fully handle. I’m going to stop pHing my water down; it usually ends up right around 8 after bubbling for a day or two.
Yeah I would suspend any pH adjustment for a few weeks and see if things trend in the right direction; FWIW I also think that the internet cannabis community has drastically over-emphasized the importance of bubbling water for organic cultivation. I used to do “ALL THE STUFF” to treat my water, and then I realized that the local garden center by me with a large organic section was just watering everything with municipal hose-water. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to have good municipal water that comes out of the tap around 7 pH, but it opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of what I think has been permeating our community regarding chlorine/chloramine and other associated water treatment chemicals might verge a bit on facebook-moms self-diagnosing their kids with neurological disorders based on “internet research.” Like…who actually has proven definitively that bubbling water makes a material difference in the outcome of potency, smell, or yield on boutique personal cannabis gardens? Probably nobody, yet leaving large amounts of standing water around or running electric bubblers introduces this huge amount of variability and complexity in the garden. Personally, I think having a well balanced base mix and an amended compost you can top with basically gets you 99% of the way there, and futzing with the water is probably putting a hat on a hat for most growers.
I think you’re right on the money; there’s no way the level of chlorine/chloramine in my tap water is enough to kill off all my microbes or whatever the general claim is, especially since it’s safe for me to drink (I actually much prefer my tap water for drinking, over bottled water or any other kind).
I’ve already got the bubbler set up for my tea bucket, though, and even that hose is just a small offshoot from my aquarium air pump. I definitely don’t go too far out of my way to bubble my tap water, so don’t worry. It’s practically zero effort. ![]()
I have same going on with one of mine right now. Been that way since leaf formed. Not sure whats up with it, but its just one, well 2 of leaves. The one leaf has the yellow, the other just has the Peyronies going on. Rest of plant seems fine, so not worried too much about it.
Glad to see someone else has it too, and I’m not just over here pioneering new ways of fucking up my plants. LOL
Question for everyone: when does veg start? I always hear that the gold standard is 6 weeks of veg before flip, but veg doesn’t start as soon as the seedling pops up, does it?
I count veg days starting after the first set of serrated leaves.
I dont have a set veg length tho. I train till they fill my space maybe 75% and then flip. Then i hope the stretch fills the rest wall to wall.
Yeah, of course I don’t exactly care how long others veg for, I was just wondering how they count it. I figured if they have a veg time they like to stick to, then that must mean they have some indicator that signals the start of veg for them, yknow?
Sort of. I figure the seedlings not vegging yet if its still working on a single taproot and the food stored in yhe cotyledon leaves.
Six weeks of veg time would make a sizable plant typically i would think.
Unless you’re me, and you can’t figure out how to stop picking at your girls and keep your hands to yourself. Stunting plants in early veg seems to be my specialty. LOL
Yeah, dont pull any leaves while it is in early veg unless doing specific training. Even then you need at least 4 good tier sets (nodes) of true leaves.
Oh, wow. Honestly I did top too much, I think, but a big part of the problem was very early veg, where I couldn’t get my temps or my humidity up. They kinda just stopped growing for a while and got pretty crunchy. 55 degree/25% RH basement was insurmountable without some new equipment. I’m well-prepared for next round now, though.
