Small roots explained

Howdy,
I harvested my special queen, bad yeld, tiny colas and buds, after harvesting I pulled the plant off the pot and tought that after 2 months vegging I would have roots all over the pot and the soil would come in one block.
Instead the roots just came off the soil and I was amazed how small the root system got, smaller than the palm of my hand.

I think it isn’t from insufficient light, the plants grow well, my question is could it be from vegging in lower temperatures like 12-20?

Or should I blame the frequent watering?
Here is a picture of it:

What you think about this?
I didn’t want to make the same mistake again.

Probably both things were the cause

Half way I got heaters to keep the room at 25-26C, less one problem.
About watering, I am getting there… As I check daily and some times I may over water or water too frequently so nothing is short on the plants but had the opposite effect.

Those are super stunted. 12 is cold. Overwater bad.
