Love it @OriginalDankmaster96 lookin forward to your feedbacks , thankyou for susing this out for us , appreciated
: )
From a purely arm-chair perspective, I’ve noticed vaping can last longer (effects in duration), but it also takes longer to get to that same place compared to a joint. (Ie: I can smoke a 1g joint in 5 minutes, but it might take 10-15minutes to vape that same amount.)
I also notice I cough up a lot more when I’m vaping versus smoking - I wonder if this is some kind of bronchodilator effect? Maybe within certain terpenes being heated at lower temperatures, versus when you burn them in a joint.
Anyways, the best smoking investment I’ve made (beside growing) was getting a Volcano vaporizer.
they do make an actual product for that; Herb Iron
It’s basically an expensive soldering iron, with a specific tip, and some auto off safety features for us stoners.
You could also try lighting your joints without inhaling the lighter fluid (the way you would light a cigar.)
Yes, I’ve seen it. To me this is cost prohibitive to buy a $60 glorified soldering iron after getting $60 adapter. People with money to burn and no brains do this
After buying a $275 glass on glass Super Silver vape, and still gave me coffee like taste, and enormous amount of toasted ground up bud, frankly I see vaping as a waste. I actually noticed my usage going way up in grams. When you spend that much and it still doesn’t give true flavor and using more material, I don’t care what health fanatics think, I’m over wasting more money. I’ve had vape bong hits before, slightly roasting the top, I’m not a fan. I prefer true flavor over anything.
Yeah, I would be on the fence about a $100 soldering iron too lol.
Maybe you just have a bad experience with a bad product?
The Volcano is a absolute work-horse of a device and worth every penny.
I’ve also tried their handheld mighty vape and I was seriously impressed.
With vaping it’s important to get the temp’s right. But the device makes a huge difference. My first device was an ariizer solo (or one of those models, the top one), and it’s nothing compared to the Volcano.
I will say this though… and I would get this often from people who would use my Volcano - The high is DIFFERENT. It’s not quite as “heavy” and deep (which I would attribute to lower temperature heating). This is something I’d hear often from heavy joint smokers (who did not consume via other methods.)
Don’t think so brother, I saw a Grafix dome vaporizer in 1996 at a Baltimore headshop and bought it. Didn’t like the roasted taste after trying. Waited to see if technology improved taste, did my research around 2012, found the SSV glass heating element and tube. Glass on glass, the BEST, and when it arrived, the only improvement I got was a stronger stream I could feel, but the roasted taste didn’t change using different varieties. Maybe hit like 3 pulls off full tube, I empty it in my hand I’m like this is 3 joints worth totally brown. Tried to like it, but used far too much up. Someone once offered me a hit of their vape pen and left a strange aftertaste. First vape hit is cool but I don’t get flavor, then it’ becomes more roasted with every pull until it’s brown. If there’s a vape that delivers full true flavor I may try again, but not this toasted/roasted coffee.
ahh I see what you mean. It’s definitely roasting it. How brown depends on how long you go. Usually when it’s starting to brown I call that finished. I find vaping on a lower temp allows you to experience the flavour more without the “toasted” taste.
In my 'cano I can go 4-5 bags in before it starts turning brown, on a decently filled chamber. My first three bags are usually heavily flavourful. I don’t get “burnt weed” flavour unless I go 6-7 bags deep, or unless I’m vaping at a really hot temp. But if you are used to smoking, it does take a bit to get used to the change.
I love my herbiron : ) if it broke I would buy another
Long time Storz and Bickle fan girl. Have the Volcano analog for ~6yrs now. Have the Migthy and just got the Mighty +.
what i’ve noted.
Vape is easier on my throat. no cough. the Mighty+ batteries do not last as long as the Mighty did.
Taste is AMAZING at 175-185C.
Pretty happy with them. I definitely can see a diff when I light up.
I run just a hair past 6 on heat settings and only go one bag per bowl. The second bag flavor aint there for me.
you and me both .
The first time someone handed me a mighty I was seriously impressed.
I got the analog one too (because less parts and cheaper), and I’ve had mine 10 years. Amazing device. Absolute workhorse.
(Also the only vaporizer that some insurance companies actually recognize as a medical device. Not sure if that has changed, but that was once a thing.)
I usually vape between #5-6 (that’s 350-374F / 178-190C). Just because it’s easier on my lungs. If you turn it up all the way it gets really harsh, but those bags really hittt ahah.
ouch, just one? Well I guess it would depend on how much bud and what kind of bud you’re using.
I find the second bag hits the best. First bag is more flavourful but it’s a bit light, second bag you get deeper flavours and more umphhh lol.
Like, I can put a good 0.3-0.5 in there and press it down. The first two bags barely do anything to the flower, gotta mix it up and then go in another two bags lol. And they’re all good on the flavour profile (no burnt/vaped bud taste).
I fill the bowl with fresh ground bud without pressing down/compressing. I let the machine fully heat up, put the bowl on, and let the bowl sit there for ~15 seconds first to heat before turning the blower on
Always freshly ground!
I’ve always compressed the bud in the bowl at least a little bit. I’m going to try your method in a very few minutes. Thanks for mentioning that.
So now I have to wonder, who’s a compressor and who’s not? How do you treat the weed in your bowls?
Alright, everything has just arrived. We’ll start the time at 12:00 EST. After 10 bowls I will check the carbon. This time I’m using the aquatic, not coconut. The electric lighter works, but it’s cumbersome to hold it.
Bowl 1 begins NOW
On your marks , get set ……. and GOooo : )
Well that’s IT! This is now conclusive…after 3 bowls, I wanted to see if the electric lighter made difference to the aquatic charcoal…fucking ammonia smell right at the lip, so NO butane or charcoal doesn’t prevent this. As far as nitrogen is concerned, there is NO BIGGER proponent of flushing before harvest, and I make sure to flush all excess out w sugar concentrates… I don’t have green leaves at harvest, so nitrogen is definitely not it. The fact I smell this, makes me wonder if I’m inhaling the vapors cause I smell the ammonia in the bottom chamber and that I don’t like. I even wonder now if delayed reactions are the cause of my throat soreness. I was going to postpone because my throat hasn’t fully recovered but my mind wonders too much, and I’m like, let’s see after 3 what I get, and shit hits my nose and I’m like I have to report this. Now I have $80 invested in this…what next ? Spend more to try something else ? Looks like it’s back to blunts. No ammonia, just tar resin through a smoky glass filter/holder.
Does the bong water smell of Ammonia ?
The bottom chamber has ammonia odor, not strong but it’s there for certain.
Is traces of ammonia fine in a fish tank ?
