From personal experience I would concur plant diversity in the diet is beneficial.
Since my diet consists mainly of Spinach, Swiss Chard, Kale and other leafy greens
with sweet potatoes, I mix up the spices/cuisine flavors. Chinese, Thai, Mexican,
Ethiopian etc. Keeps my spice cabinet full too.
