I can’t recommend making a seed vacuum enough.

Let’s look like a freak, but it’s 100% sincere.

For a farm maybe, but I’ve tested a bunch of sorters and … i’m faster with hands (ok i must confess that i’m a real 100% ambidextrous to be fair ^^) than a machine. In one gesture of around 500ms to 1500ms :

  • i calibrate (seed diameter, depth, lenght)
  • i gauge maturity (mature little seeds are grade B, lost with machines)
  • i gauge the oily/watery ratio of each seed and the texture of their cellulose
  • i’m placing each calibration in its own stock

A machine is messy, even just a vacuum cleaner, will be an useless intermediate step.
And it asking a second pass to sort the seeds manually, again …

Matter of scale that change the logic. But i think that even if i was owning a brick & mortar label, i will hire people just for this. Not joking.

Sounds like you have a nice system, I’m definitely not fully ambidextrous.

I hand-pick most of the time too. I’m going to end up pinching every seed anyway, so I might as well. But I haven’t had any massive seed harvests - yet. That might change things for me.

Is Mass Super Skunk still around? Might be interesting to hunt a male and pollinate some of the diesel cuts if that’s where people think the Sour originally came from.

it is for-sure still around.

Been really enjoying this thread and lots of information to parse through. Some of this seems to be clear as mud at times. I have access to most of the cuts of SD but does anyone have a recommendation for a legit clean notsodog cut? Any of the cuts easier to grow than others, as I have most of my experience with hazes?

Breeders Direct Seed Company is selling clones from Staten Island aka Gaby. He is selling Original Sour Diesel and Aj Sour Diesel snips for $210 + Shipping.

And add more confusion….aj says his is the sour diesel so where does the original fit in :flushed::exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but Cali connection released a strain called original sour diesel that was a sour diesal backcross.

So much confusion in the clone game
So many people change names to appear like they have something unique that nobody else does.
Recent test showed 4 of 5 sour cuts were the same

Also people not supplying info about if it was from say cali connection seed or the clone

There have been people putting out there own worked version for many many years now , I have a sour d going atm , I have no idea what cut it just came as sour d from a place that has held it sense the early medical days in California . I had a verified aj sour d and grew it once was not happy and ditched it , was good weed just not the sour I remember , maybe the one I have now is diff might be the same who freakin knows lol
When I first saw clones years ago there was New York sour diesal and ecsd and not everybody growing those bothered to call it anything but sour or sour d but all three are different.

That is exactly what I I’m talking for confusion.
Grew sour in nyc for years. It came labeled sour. We also had an nyc sour which was a better yielder but not as good.

The New York City diesel is a line from soma seeds , sour diesel is what I saw first and then could only find cuts of ecsd which is supposed to have been bred from sour diesal but sour d cuts going around could be any one of those or any seed somebody grew that looked and smelled the part.
Same issues with most long standing coveted lines like the chems , kushes, sours and now cookies gelato etc

Very true unfortunately

I just pressed some 90 micron fresh frozen ice water hash for rosin from an outdoor AJ Sour sourced though all star clones. It’s got some of that sharp stank you expect/want from a sour D and of course it’s a lovely rip.

I won’t say it’s the high watermark for that really racy chem smell, though, I’d give that to a Donny burger water hash a friend made that took my face off.
