(Sour Dubb)
RIP BOG!
Best tasting flower on the planet
And the older guys who brought me in had a cut that the dude who brought it down from Brooklyn called NYC Diesel well before Soma released a seed line. Then he brought down Sour D after that NYC Diesel cut.
I think that was the true original sour from our conversations. Just never be able to confirm anything especially since the story changes so much from the original group
People naming seed lines after clone only strains has screwed things up more than I can even explain in one short comment.
People not understanding genetics and calling s1 seeds the same as the clone it came from when it’s related but not the same is another big one.
I can’t even keep track of how many people call things og kush that are from s1s or hybrids probably made with s1s.
Sour diesel is another that has fallen victim to this more times then anybody can count.
Maybe the plant you saw as nyc diesel was diesal aka daywrecker and sour diesal would have been what gets called ecsd bred from diesel idk it’s hard to keep track of all the stories around these plants sometimes
Ten characters
Seemingly the most accepted story is that Greg gave the Chemdog to Weasel, who made the Diesel (by crossing to the Sensi Seeds NL, iirc)
Then either cuts or bagseeds of the Diesel made their way out to albany where they were outcrossed again to create the Sour Diesel. The research I did suggests this cross was done with the MassSuperSkunk.
Then the sour became so famous and expensive that more cuts emerged, likely from bag seeds.
The rumor is that there were 2 albany Diesel plants, and AJ says they came from bagseed of the Weasel Diesel.
An array of SD S1s just for you
I don’t disagree with you for the core of the problematic. But more on drifting in considerations that avoid the timeline.
This cut, this weed, its enormous galaxy of not less renowned hybrids … we are talking about a continuous presence in the scene and the streets since over three decades.
As for the usual sophism about the “most legit” holders and cuts : skunkVA, Katsu, Weasel, AJ … just where are the stabilized lines or even the hyped hybrids ? Stoner’s stories i’m all for it, with the SD it’s 90% of the legacy that keep it constantly alive lol, but at the moment it’s not hiding the crude facts.
The same way, the number of legit cuts of SD is for me legit considering the incredible time that had lasted what we can no longer consider as a hype. I mean it’s not the last chem/cookie of the month that no one will remember in 2034 ^^
For the clone’s sellers that are selling S1s and outcrosses viciously labeled well … it always existed. And this kind of thread is the best vaccine against frauds, if you think twice.
More importance to the plants, less to just memories that are a minimalist portion of the incredible story of this cut and its legendary hybrids (try to make a list someday, just the renowned ones). None of these crosses are from the original holders, i must add ^^
An idiot sometimes was saying me “dude, just buy them all and keep the one you searching. stop questions.”, while i was hunting one. It still a stupid advise lol, but not fundamentally wrong after all.
I think about this sometimes. The people who have been around long enough, know better. The new people have to search through tons of bullshit.
Nothing frustrates me more than this. I’d like a cut of TK, but then get asked which one and told Farmer Joe’s is the best. Why are there multiple TK cuts??? It’s moronic.
To add to the confusion;
Weasel made and kept two Diesel’s, #1 and #2
And weasel lost both.
Oh interesting, so it was Weasel who had the two diesel plants. That makes sense to me, the albany crew breeding with a diesel clone is a lot more believable than all of these elite genetics coming from a sequence of bag seeds.
Can anyone confirm my memory that the Diesel was made with Chem x NL? I’m pretty sure it was Notso who theorized the Sour was Diesel x MassSuperSkunk.
as an aside, AJ is the least reliable source of information from this mess IMO considering he passes off the current AJ sour cut as the original. I give Weasel a lot more credit because he moved onto glassblowing and has less to gain by lying. I hope the albany guys come forward publicly some day to give their side of the story.
I absolutely agree with the aj sediment. He’s heavily invested in his version of reality
Now I recall, it was skunkVA who suggested the MSS connection, and Notso agreed. Here are some polaroids from skunkVAs skunk grow circa 1995
My understanding is Weasel was in Staten Island and had a run herm and sold the seeded bud to the Albany crew. They found the seeds and popped the sour d (and god knows how many others that were kept). I believe that is correct.
For clarification, here’s a pack of NYC Deisel that we bought a couple yrs after the turn of the century.
Mexican sativa over Afghan.
Soma just used the name to move seed. It had nothing to do with the original Deisel plants in any way, other then sharing the name. Confirmed by Adam Dunn, who was there at the time the beans were made, that he told Soma it was a bad idea. Also backed up by JJ from Top Dawg, who went as far as to release a batch of seed called NYC Chem, as a rub towards Soma and an acknowledgement (from his point of view anyway) that the first "Deisel " that grew the name in NYC was in fact Chem.
They are biologically grown tho.
If im looking for a nice uppity soaring high is the ecsd the best cut for me? The notsodog one looks great and ive heard awesome reviews of it but not sure how those two compare.
As an aside i got some weasel diesel from the dispo and it was not at all what I was expecting. Very muted smell and kind of a really blah effect. Was really dissapointing.
Out of curiosity, what state was this?
Also everyone forgets that part of the story. Chem finally gives the nyc crew the chem and they promptly change the name to diesel. Didn’t think the customers in N.Y. would be interested in a plant called chem
Up in Michigan, at Olswell dispo in Adrian. Packaging says old school organics on it.
I’m in ny. Was curious. Unfamiliar with the company
