Thanks @anon20530495 ! This was actually my first time running this [my] selection to flower, since picking her as my keeper a couple runs previous of course. But, all in all our relationship is just beginning!!
Currently, I’ve got two of her clones in an earthbox that are around day 32/33 of flower— I planted these under 12/12 on same day they shot roots in the aerocloner. I was curious how they’d handle the crazy stress and how much they’d grow/stretch overall; and, holy shit did they come back and stretch/flower with a vengeance!
The clone were maybe 4” tall, almost comically small snips. Now, I’ve got two 12-14 inch baby leg colas that are still stacking and yet to even start showing signs of swelling. Just producing more and more calyxes.
The sour notes come on the inhale when smelling herb from either on the plant or freshly chopped. Then when you smoke it the rubber/chem is on the inhale but the sour eucalyptus is on the exhale and finish, respectively.
The first round because it was more for selection (and my choice was already made clear to me) she went 70 days on the button. The trichs were 90% milky, 7% clear, 3% amber id say. I know this came down early but with my lack of space and needing to flip tents I did what I had to do. Back to these clones in the earthbox, the main reason I’m growing these so small and quickly is to see how long they truly need to take and then get ready to veg and flower a couple big cyclones for my new year headstash
Growing out some (blue dream x green crack ) x Sour diesel (stoneys male) first time running anything sour . She reeks ! But deff has a sweet undertone
Here’s a question that I haven’t seen asked or answered… but I’ve never searched out the answer before because I’ve never asked the question…but
What makes Sour? Is it from a terpene? Cannabinoid? Some other chemical? I used to mix my own nicotine vape juices and would add malic acid if I wanted something sour…but that’s different…so what’s makes the “Sour” in sour types?
The smells and tastes that come from cannabis are a very complex thing that is a combination of terpenes, theols and other volatile organic compounds and the interactions between them.
I remember Sour Diesel actually tasted sour in comparison to everything else that was available at the time. It has been a long time though, and that was many, many moons ago.
I am so happy to have received the Albany / Weasel cut. If you haven’t heard the story, it was on Adam Dunn’s show years ago. He detailed how it came to be.
It didn’t produce the terpenes when run in my extreme outdoor environment, but I’ve heard reports from others that it is 100% headstash grade with the original flavor and effects. Different than a number of other sours like AJ, ECSD, etc.
I’m looking forward to running it more. I am currently crossing it to a 1979 Grandfather Skunk #1 precursor that I’m preserving.
Yes I listened right after I asked the question!..which didn’t answer my question at all…rather it created more questions for me.
According to them, it’s not Sour in smell/flavour. It was a name mix up…“our diesel”.
I’ve never grown SD as of yet, the closest I’ve grown was a Headbanger cross which I’m told is actually a sour og. But that headbanger cross had a definite sour note in the jar. So much so that I thought I had an ahah moment…“so this is what sour is”.
So I guess my next question for all of you that have grown sours…is there an actual sour note to the flower in your experience?
I’m not even sure how to describe what I perceived as sour because when you think of it, sour doesn’t have a smell…its a taste sensation.
Never had Sour Diesel but I have tried flower on multiple occasions that has sour smell and taste. Makes me think of limes. It’s unforgettable. I’d assume Sour Diesel would be similar but with some gassy-ness to it. “Pucker” was one of those flowers.
I’m hoping to pick up a ecsd soon and a aj sour diesal also I’m determined to find the sour diesal from the early club days that had the sour candy flavor that was super strong terp wise.
