Sour Diesel Thread

it’s from a friend’s work… i think i mentioned it in here before… he took an old tired Sour D cut, crossed it to one of Karma’s SD BX’s and then crossed that to one of Top Dawg’s SD BX’s.

it’s pretty close imo. sour loudness, good taste (not exactly mouth coat) with that soaring edgy sour onset that we all love lol. i smoked a few samples and the “C” was the best. i believe he widdled it down from nearly 50 females.

i also smoked some dabs of just that straight tired sour d mom one night while having to many IPA’s so i ripped a huge dab and i damn near felt like i was about to start tripping on some mushrooms or something. was crazy lol i felt like a virgin lunged smoker again.

i’ve been wondering how radio ridge nursery/haze valley nursery’s copy of ECSD is performing. haven’t been able to reconnect with them to score anything lol but i’m pretty sure they TC’d the “Chaco” ECSD. coming up on the forums in the late 2000’s there was basically only the ECSD, and AJ cuts floating about, and then the confusion (which i’m still confused about lol) amongst Original Diesel/Daywrecker/etc etc.

Confusion :rofl::rofl::rofl: that may be the understatement of the century

I just picked up a Sour Diesel “Crunchy cut” and when I asked the nursery about it they told me:

“the cut we have was the one that was very popular in the early 2000 on the east coast. It’s similar to ecsd but crunchy cut is who made it popular.”

I can’t find anything on Crunchy Cut but we’ll see how it does.

I’ve got those Sour Diesel “Sowahh” F2s as part of my Sour Diesel hunt…and I also have another pack a friend made - from an original pack he bought from Karma, the most recent Bx4 version…

From the looks of them, they appear legit (and I’ve had buddies run other ApeOrigin gear with fantastic results, for example a friend ran the DJ Short Blueberry F2s, and they were identical to DJ’s Blueberry).

Bottom line with the Sour Diesel ApeOrigin F2 repro: it’s legitimate Karma Genetics F2, and it will take at least a half a pack to find a keeper, and if you’re very particular - run a full pack of them, and I’m sure you’ll find a few keepers.

First time grower of Karma Genetics, and the pictures I’ve seen, look exactly like the ApeOrigin F2s… And I will say, they definitely have a sour diesel aroma to them too (a couple of the other Sour Diesels are lacking in aroma in early flower… but I’ve heard people say that it really starts to develop later in flower).

I have two (2) phenos - one is very “sativa” looking, and the other is looking like it’s leaning towards the “biker kush”. Both have a nice aroma. The only thing that’s lacking for me is bud density - the sativa looking Sour Diesel pheno #1 is reminding me of a “haze” plant (thin buds). But it still has a way to go for flowering.

Out of all the Sour Diesel I’ve popped, at this moment - The Sour Diesel RiRi Cut takes 1st place. She’s big, frosty, and stinky buds - perfect structure, and getting nicer by the day. She was a “nice plant” right from sprout - the kind of sprout that catches your attention. (also, kept a short runt pheno as well, just for kicks - but just goes to show how much variability you get with seeds - pheno hunting).

Thanks! Maybe I will try the ape in the future, still got the original karma in the freezer. Will try the riri too someday.

Which one lol, he had like 3. The one i grew which was the first one on the site he called the original looked alot different.

So hows everyone feel about the notso cut? Still pretty good cut of sour?

From what i know it’s different with more skunk influence rather than a true diesel. If you’re looking for a cut the original/day wrecker and original sour diesel which i believe is daywrecker crossed with headband can be had with some looking.

I lost a really nice cut of turbo diesel and she was imo some of the closest I’ve found to old school sour.

I’m curious what the lineage was and if it was crossed with chem.

Someone did the breakdown and said Notso Sour is on top. Equally as important is how it’s grown, very little conversation about that in general. Notso said the bat guanos gives it better flavor in general but he doesn’t use it anymore.

I would be cool to have few people grow the same cut in different environments and lighting to see the subtle differences

Yeah, it’s considered one of the best cuts that i know of. It would be interesting to compare flower from different states grown with native soils.

Was listening to breeders syndicate podcast that notso was apart of and apparently the have split ways. Notso was selling clones to members and not shipping for almost a year even after collecting money immediately and also alot of the clones he sent were infected with dieses/pests. so i would be wary of where you try to aquire the notso cut.
