Sour Diesel Thread

Yeah so I’ve heard. I’ve grown out Ethos’s Sour D that was SourD x (SourD x i95) Dont know what Sour was used in this. But it was so loud and nice effect that got me going thru the day. Diesel/citrus smelling and lingering after taste.
Then Katsu’s Double Dose Diesel that was more Skunky and Garlicy. Flowered 14 weeks the best pheno and it was huge. Posted a pic in Katsu thread from the 14th week. I’ll add pic of that in the end from the end of 8th week.
Now I’m growing the Karma Sour D Bx2’s that are from Rez’s work I believe.

Here’s the 8 weeker DDD from Katsu.

That’s fine. But nothing I posted was exaggerated. Did it reek? Well, I had to wash my hands after rolling a joint and friends would tell you they could smell it outside of your room when I never had more than 2 grams EVER. You could smell it on someone from feet away. That’s my point, it’s not just how I remember the actual bud, it’s situations around the bud. My dad following my friend upstairs when all he did was walk by for a second. That’s not basic bud, literally nothing like it

Hey oh shit! it was not even your post I meant abt the definition of nostalgia. Sorry buddy!
I believe you and these cookie smelling buds are not so “invasive” kinda smells than old hazes and skunks or sour. That is just facts.
But still when I break up the buds today Black Triangle for example or gmo crosses - better to wash my hands when going to public transport.

edit. but still it’s hard to get that WOW! effect just like when being 15yrs old compared to now 25yrs later.

I like to use carbon filter covered bags and double bagged bud for transport. Keeps the smells out for most of the time pretty nice.
Joints are bit harder. They tend to smell from some old blunt wrap tube.

I generally keep mine in a film can, in a small case and then into a waterproof, smell proof container to keep the smell down.

I’m glad you found good things in the DDD…I found nothing but shit…a waste of 5 months

Yeah most of the females were pretty mids. Had one good and that one fire one. Both were big producers.

Absolutely. I don’t claim to know it all, and you are correct that things are murky, on many genetic lines. A lot of that has to do with it being illegal for so long. Now that legality is hitting in a lot of places, more and more back stories are coming out. That’s why I finally came out from the shadows after 30 years.

By connecting the dots, and taking everything into account, we can see the full picture and make an educated guess. If there’s little to no data on these things, or a group of people are all speaking collective untruths or contradicting stories, then it’s much harder to verify.

I believe the back story of G13 due to multiple reference points corroborated, that is credence to me.

In the case of Sour Diesel, I dont believe that to be the case at all, or believe the “real” backstory behind it. There’s some truth in what happened, but look at where and how the stories got changed, or info was purposely omitted. The info is still coming out, like that talk about Weasel popping seeds every year.

The consensus nowadays: there were multiple cuts of "sour"going around, S1 seeds being popped, “as close as possible to Sour Diesel” being grown to supply the demand.

AJ and a couple upstate friends couldn’t supply the entire city, or Upstate, or NY state as a whole, or the east coast, or the country. Plus he couldn’t even get a cut of any Diesel. His cuts aren’t the Sour of old, just attempts at reproductions. Just my $.02 and imo…

I was growing Sour in NY during the Sour Diesel craze. I have an extremely long history since the late 90s with Sour Diesel, to say the least.

Aj was known to be giving fake cuts.

Here’s a Sour Diesel (Rez Cut) that I’ve held for the last 5 years. This flower was grown under HPS lighting. She’s a good 60/40 sativa leaning type of smoke, initially catch some sour notes but overall gas dominant.

Has anyone tried the wing wang cut from aficionado?

I think I mentioned this further up in the thread but I grew up in the north east and we were always told you’ll know when it’s real sour d if it hits your tongue like sour patch kids and lingers. I definitely experienced that more then once and this was before all the terp sprays and shit

Uncle Doobies Sour Diesel BX uses the Wing Wang cut to make his back cross…it’s (Sour Diesel “A” cut x (Wing-Wang x Chem Fuego)) - I believe there’s still some packs available on Aficionado’s website.

Also, just finishing up some Aficionado Alderpoint Sour Diesel: pheno #1 just came down - BUNK. The plant turned color from green, to maroon-pupleish buds…and it has a “gassy front end, with a fruity, grape back end”. Yeah, it’s a stinky plant - but not the right kind of stink - if you know what I mean. It doesn’t have anything “skunky, dank” like old school Sour Diesel should have. Have not done a smoke report yet, but I feel compelled to at least give it a try… He might have used some of his Magnum Opus, Royal Kush in Alderpoint SD (just guessing) because it fits those descriptions.

“Real” diesel doesn’t purple, that’s a tale tale sign it’s not legit. My guess is that he indeed used Magnum Opus, it would explain the purple and terps.

I remember a couple of decades ago coming across some NY diesel lovely stuff folks lime green buzz right behind the eye sockets heavy relentless haha something to be proud of. Really the big golf ball structure and interesting almost highlighter neon green color separated it from the pack. Would love to know who’s got that type of phenotype from seed?

Mine is more dark green with orange hairs. Mine is also not the sour, but the original Diesel. It’s more round/less spear shaped balls. Of course I haven’t found the best way to run it without it drying out super fast, or go to completion without having some form of stupid happen. It’s so strange. Mega crystally, but more citrus forward, but mainly gas station leftover on the hand dank. FUNK.

Seed or a cut?

Its a cut. Kinda funky way of getting it. Cut from what I was told was older than the story AJ talked about on fsotd.

Mine would look closer to yours if I could get the temps right and the correct dry backs.

The one i posted was somas/nycd which i believe is what they’re looking for. I used to get it from someone that got it from the city and they’re describing what i remember. Yours looks like wing wang/daywrecker, i used to have a cut of it.
