Yeah I talked about this before. Not only that but it processes better than purt near all in the last couple decade none carry over better.
Or or or, it’s not as big a deal to me as it is to you
Do you grow sour @minitiger ? It’s a tough plant to nail, I certainly haven’t yet. I agree with you on the sour we used to get back in the day. It was always killer and ultra loud and unmistakable. IMO it takes more than just acquiring “the real sour” in order to get that flavor. A fussy lady for sure but I’m being patient with her trying to get back that loud sour.I’m getting a little closer each run but it’s not there yet.
I’ve grown a few hybrids, never straight Sour. And they’ve all turned out disappointing haha, as far as the flavor is concerned, which is all I care about when it comes to anything Sour.
The most recent one I grew was Doc D’s Sour Diesel x Dragon Energy. It looked pretty “Sour” whilst growing, I had high hopes for her, but the flavor was not there at all. Great high, though. And I still have like 30+ seeds of that cross, along with multiple other Sour hybrids to look through, as well. I’m not done yet haha.
Yeah, somebody on OG who has a cut was telling me that temps and humidity levels are super-important in bringing out that real Sour Diesel flavor; if they’re not dialed in, the flavor’s lacking.
Yeah, a real Sour Diesel-tasting plant is for sure my Holy Grail, but I haven’t found one yet…
You absolutely need cooler temperature for sour to really bang. My best batches always were winter grows. My night temperature would be low.
Looks nice
Notso’s Sour in the groove at 8 weeks
Now that is one hell of a sea of green. Very very nice
i’d love to take a dip in this ocean of buds, great work @TomHill
So who has the best sour d seeds to buy? You guys should make like a top 5 list. I really want to grow something authentic. Doesn’t have to be perfect but still strong sour resemblance.
Shoreline Genetics Sour D BX (or ECSD). He worked with the Skunktek/Chaco cut and I think it’s probably got some stanky skunk from Texas Shoreline buried in there too because it’s just got that extra funk.
wait what. shoreline’s sour d work with the ECSD is using skunktek’s “sour diesel” and not Weasel’s?
Are you also saying skunktek’s cut and the chaco cut are the same thing?
@Jinglepot did a seed increase for the co-op box last fall. You might want to see if you can trade for them instead of buying. He used top dog bx3 for it
It’s the general consensus that they are the same (Skunktek ECSD / Chaco cut).
Albany is completely different. I believe that is what they used to call “Original Diesel”. It is not Sour like everyone thinks, but Cloney Soprano got it from someone else in Albany who still monocrops it today, so I guess is happy with it. The Albany is 91 Chemdog x MSS / Sensi Northern Lights.
After growing the Albany/Weasel cut myself for a few years, it does not resemble the sour I remember from a few decades ago. That was more like Sour Patch kids kinda sour with a stank to it also. The Albany is just diesel, resembles the 91 Chemdog (which I also grow) but not as good. It’s also super finicky to grow and get right. Not worth it IMO, but some people want to try… Some claim to get better results from using certain hydroponics.
Well that’s depressing. Sounds like all of it is bunk or fake then. Skunktek’s isn’t sour either so that makes me feel better about not jumping on the chaco stuff
@Spitfire is running the Shoreline Sour D from seed. He’s also ran Top Dawgs Sour D for comparison.
…
Well that certainly looks and sounds great! but not like the Sour Diesel I remember
He does seem to like what he’s found in your stuff better than what he’s found in top dawgs stuff so far though.
Im really interested in the Top Dawg SD i got robbed 500 bucks trying to get a pack of them.Running both Sowahh from Karma and Shoreline SD via @spitfire now. Would trade some of my seeds or my keeper clones for a cut or f2 seeds etc. LmK !
