This strain is one of my all time favorites and has a crazy back story on how it was discovered and the fact she’s still around is a miracle.
The mother —- Mint Bubbakush :
In 2001/02 back in the c-bay auction days, I used to grab all types of seeds off c-bay. - I was watching these Bubbakush seeds heavily and finally ended up bidding on orgnkids Bubbakush s1s. I won the pack and when it arrived I didn’t waste any time - I popped them all right away. Out of the 10 bubba seeds, one of them really stuck out. Hugest leaves I’ve ever seen, baseball glove size or bigger, dark green almost black leaves(these were the notorious green bubba phenos).
This was the Whitest Bubbakush I’ve ever seen, just covered in resin. It started to get noticeable at 2 weeks. Not a great yielder, but had the best Terp Profile, nose, appearance and the high was magical and worlds better than the others. It was Minty, and menthol up front, coffee, earthiness - The typical coffee backend was still there like other bubbas much more minty and menthol with a backend of the best black afghan I hash. 70 days mint pheno, can be taken at 60 days for a less couchy high.
The father —— Chocolate Diesel:
Maphial aka Santasmoke made these using the chocolate trip mother from Dutch flowers and the sour diesel v1.5. He sent me the original f1s and I used a chocolate trip dominant male for the cross.
I only got about 40 seeds, and I sent a few around to a few friends. One of packs I sent was
to a buddy who worked as the breeder for Brothel Bros Seed bank. He disappeared off the forums for awhile after I sent them out so I thought they were gone….
Fast forward to about 3 years later, I see him posting some pics of new gear he was running. One of the posts had something called sour mint chocolate - I messaged him and he told me these were the seeds I sent him. Another forum buddy of mine in his circle of friends also was running this for quite awhile and apparently it was a huge hit in certain areas of ATL and was fetching 550/zip!! I was stoked, and he sent me a few clones of her. I lost her in 2006, 2012 and again in 2019. Finally got her back in 2021 and have had her ever since….
