Specializing in hot peppers

I’ve planted some pepper seeds again this year, hopefully they grow well for me. My son started them and now they are just seedlings :seedling:.

I think this is a ghost pepper in hydroponics. I just give them 18/6 lighting and bloom formula nutrients. If the conditions will veg a cannabis plant, the pepper plant will thrive. RH 45%, 20C etc.

Lol I got pepper guys telling me I need a mulch top layer and a bunch of other crazy stuff. I’m going to start with upping my nutrients cause I’ve been going light on them out of fear of over feeding… ill wait n see

I treat my pepper seedlings just like weed seedlings. Feed/soil and all.

You could try smoking it.

Peppers LIKE being rootbound from what I read.

I think you’re on the right track. It definitely needs a nutrient dose!

Isn’t that always the way haha.

Anyone have some Carolina Reaper seeds. I wouldn’t mind making some hot sauce this fall.

I gave it a full strength dose and upped my air flow, I’m seeing some improvement! Now I’m debating if I should pluck all the flowers to let it re grow new foliage or just leave it be

I’d pluck the flowers. They may drop anyway, but the plant needs the nutes for new foliage right now.

It seems to be in recovery, hard to tell by the pics but over night the newer foliage has perked up and gotten more vibrant! So im going to see how it looks in a few days before I decide if I pluck em.

I put a bunch out doors too but supposidly I did it too early for my area so they’re taking a beating. Lol damn learning curve. I’ve started more just incase seeds as back ups

Peppers are pretty resilient. As long as they don’t freeze they should recover. They may stall for a bit if they got really beat up, or sun burned, etc. I have had peppers nearly stripped from aphids return once properly treated.

I hardened them off on whats considered normal temp days… then 4 days after it kicked up to like 25c out of nowhere lol so a bit of stress. Today’s nice and cloudy though so they seem to be recovering. Ive also put up a sun shade for added protection.

Now if I need to figure out a way to keep cars from shitting in my potatoes lol ffs shoulda stuck to buying vegetables lol

I just stumbled across this thread and, I must say, it’s fired me up! :fire: Great info and pics - very inspiring.

I tried germinating some habanero and pepperoncini seeds to grow indoors back in January but had no luck. Only 1 of 4 seeds germinated after almost 2 weeks (is that expected? seems long) I ended up destroying the one seedling I had by trying to transplant it too soon. Damn my giant gorilla hands :gorilla: I shall try again - or just buy some seedlings from the garden centre.

I’m also a big fan of making my own hot sauce. I’ve recently taken to throwing a lot of the ingredients I use for my sauces into my smoker: the peppers, onions, garlic, pineapple, bananas, etc. My most recent batch featured scotch bonnets, jalapeños, green chilis, poblanos, and sweet peppers as the base and I made both a pineapple and smoked banana variation. It has a medium heat and both are very delicious - if I do say so myself

Power to the pepper! :fist::hot_pepper:

Hot Peppers take a long time to germinate, I find the hotter they are the longer they take. Some up to a month. Homemade hot sauce is the best!

Same here. Fresh seed germinate faster as always, but it seems the hotter the pepper the longer. I have had peppers germinate in 2-3 days and 2-3 weeks. I remember having several pop in a tray of seeds, then 2 weeks later more pop from the same seeds… like WOW you were slow!

I am guessing you meant cat shit, not car shit. But, that is an interesting mental image! And it reminds me I need to put some potatoes in the ground.

Hahaha oops. Ya stupid cats… I keep all my car shit in a different part of the yard lol
