SquirtleSquads adventures in DWC

Seeds are slow growing. Not sure why I always struggle.

They are getting about 0.5EC in distilled water so this is all feed.

Should be enough. Maybe they are just working on roots before they put off foliage. They have cotyledons, single bladed leaves and starting now to put off the 3 fingered set.

About 4-5 days from sprout.

The screen is full aside from the two corners and I’ll start the flip today and do a res change.

I feed my plants on first day with EC 0,8. I raise it to 1,2 after one week and then to 1,8 on week Four. Pure coco and RO water. Advanced nutrients.

Yeah my plants can never take that.

Then I wonder maybe that’s why I get slow growth. But in my experience I get slow growth pumping them heavy with nutes.

These are just in rapid rooters.

The order I put in through attitude will arrive tomorrow. Their shipping service is top notch. Shipped out Friday evening.

Had to get more dark star kush since it did so well. Bought 5 seeds and getting 14 due to promos. Then I’m done with seeds until LED Seeds puts some of his unicorns out to us common folk

in rdwc I fed at 1.4ec max or I burned.

In coco Im in week 6 flw and tonight just fed at 2.4ec

Not sure if you have a dome – I usually put my rapid rooters in a humidity dome with a heat mat, and transplant them as soon as the taproot comes out the bottom. They might go faster if you give them a little heat and humidity. They don’t need any nutrients until they start working on their first set of leaves… at least I never feed anything until after I transplant them into coco.

I have a dome on them but it’s pretty dry looking on the inside. Perhaps because no heat mat? I’ll put a mat under them.

Today a see slight burn at the tips. It’s so weird others do 1.5EC on seeds and mines burning at 0.5EC

Yeah, gotta keep the nutes down on DWC.

@SquirtleSquad - I find it hard with seeds also. I find putting the heat mat under them and put on a dome and they start growing again. They exist fine without them but they hardly grow. It would be good to find out why so I dont have to use the heatmat and dome as it encourages mold, fungus etc.

Show us some pictures of the little ones. I Think that 0,5 is really low and they are hungry. Not overfed…

From back to front 1-5 number 1 and 4 you can see some burn on the tip

Well I dont Think its burned. Id say they are Hungry. Exact same thing happend to a friend of mine because they hesitated to feed their plants more…

I see signs of tip burn on all of them. They dont look hungry to me at all - nice color other than the very tips of some leaves.

Im with @SquirtleSquad. Ive had issues when feeding at higher doses than about EC 1.2-1.4.

Just thinking of reasons why. Are my plants not going through as much photosynthesis as everyone else’s who can do 1.5EC at same stage?

My temps are good. Root temps are about 66F. Room is 76F with lights on and 70F off. Hotter at the leaf surface lights on I’m sure. Though I don’t measure canopy temps. CO2? I don’t ever exchange my air with outside air. I exchange the air from the room to the rest of the basement and figure there’s enough leakage. But maybe not? I’ve been giving CO2 a lot of thought recently as being the culprit.

I want to supplement CO2 in my flower room so I will soon have a means of testing room CO2 levels.

In the winters it just doesn’t make sense to bring in outside air since it’s like 20F out. And the summers it’s like 80-95F out.

Yes, but 0,5 seems too low. 0,8 might solve the problem? Or just LITFA? :joy:

Hey ur scrog filled out nicely

Buds got big under the solstrips.

Chocolate chunk (one that’s purpling and yellowing) is living up to the chunk part. Be great in a SOG setup. Not so much a scrog setup.

Just flipped my veg a couple days ago but they are already 8" taller than this batch in flower.

I was thinking of cutting some clones of #3-#5 since they look the best. But I have too many seeds to run to waste too much more time with this strain.

Going to set the perpetual back a month but I need variety. I need solid results. Most of all these ended up hermiing and don’t got room in my garden for that. I like TH Seeds but I got strawberry glue from them in my seed/clone closet and I have chicle waiting to run and bringing back dark star kush. Hopefully I can find that 2gpw pheno and scrog it more to reduce bud size and hopefully avoid bud rot and push that towards 3gpw.

Aftering feed increases and drops on the hungry veg they have stabilized finally starting telling me theyve had enough i’m now at 1.5EC down from 1.8EC. Beautiful green color. No Mg deficiencies. Jack’s 321 watered down a bit.

They filled nicely bro, if u can find a 2gpw pheno u gotta keep it around - I’m sure it would be a monster.

I know what u mean by variety, I’m been smoking the same two strains for a year. Got some new stuff in line but it’s gotta wait another cycle.

Can’t wait to see urs dried and weighed up!

For about the first month of flower I had only 780w so probably not as good as it could have been and would be tough to figure a gpw #. If I pull 2# I’ll be happy. Hoping for closer to 3 which would be 1.25gpw. something I’ve been doing consistently. But id say 34-36oz most likely. No larf on these. Even the bottom most bud that’s a good foot under the screen that somehow made it past trimming is ping pong ball sized

Moving forward I’ll have 1200w over a 6x4. Should pull 3.5# per harvest at a minimum. With that dark star big bud pheno should pull 5# easy.

Going to do some mods to the flower room once I harvest and add some shades to keep the light contained. (My closet is lined with white poly and it’s so bright in there) and seal up the room and add CO2. This should boost yields 25%.

Veg area. Screen will for sure be filled. Going to supplement the solstrip in place of one of the 315w CMH once I chop and try and get more w/sf. Right now only at 26. This will put me at 42w/sf.

Sitting at 1.3EC 6.1pH. Brought down to 5.6

Here’s a bud on the #4 seed of critical hog (the one I was contemplating keeping) that somehow survived lollipopping.

Huge. About the size of a golf ball. Maybe slightly bigger.

Not bad for 6" above the medium on a 42" plant.

Looking to chop tomorrow. Not sure what to do with this bud though. Doesn’t look ready, but would be stupid to leave just that to finish.

Do trichomes mature from top to bottom?
