SSH F2 (Fritillary), C99, "GMO"

I got the SSH F2 as a freebie on Seedbay in either '08 or '09. Decided to give them a whirl. Im also continuing my Bros Grimm Cinderella Pineapple and Barney’s Farm GMO from my 2025 vegetable diary here:

Super Silver Haze F2 Freebies - Fritillary.
This was a group project where a NL leaning male was used to pollinate females grown by different members of a collective. They grew out packs of SSH from MNS and GHS and selected 9 moms. The seeds were split, some donated to the med community, some given to Seedbay for freebies.

100% germination after all this time. I gave this pack to a friend who was considering an outdoor grow about 6 years ago. He gave them back recently after deciding against it. Hopefully I can get an F3 seed run in before I have to move into the new place completely. I have at most 6 months, but we’ll see how it goes.

I missed out on the original C99 and thought I’d give this version a go. Not having tried the original, I doubt I can be disappointed.

GMO - Barney’s Farm
This one is for the MS patient I grow for. The GMO offered in my area’s best hemp shop was one of her favorites for pain relief and getting a good night’s sleep. Terps arent important for this grow, just seeing if we can get in the ballpark medicine-wise.

After sprouting, they go into an organic peat mix containing compost and a few other things to get a good start. I have a tub of Jack’s classic I’m trying to use up, otherwise I grow with fish emulsion and seaweed. I may keep these on an organic diet for now.

Looks like a good line up. I’m most excited to watch the SSH.

Topped the Cinderella and GMO so i can get 2 cuts off each.

SSH F2 are all up.

First time using LED for vegging (or anything). A streetlight landed in my yard after a tree fell on my truck. Since my flower light is a converted 400HPS streetlight, I took it as a blessing. Truck only had one, skull-sized dent.

My second veg cab has two 250MH lights that used to be high bays or something. Free lights are great!

Not sure on distance of the LED but it seems to be doing well where it’s at.

SSH F2

Cindy P is almost ready to take cuts from.

Barney’s GMO had a mishap. About 5 days ago I lifted the pots before I went to bed and thought they were heavy enough to wait until morning for a feeding. They were very sad and wilted in the morning. A bit of damage was done to some fan leaves, but the new growth is looking good!

Group shot. SSH were topped, while Cindy and “gmo” had cuts taken. SSH looking a bit hungry so we’re feeding everything with Jack’s 20-20-20 plus epsom.

Cindy and “gmo” after cuts. I took 4 from Cindy and 2 each from “gmo”.

I clone in plain tapwater. I think it’s the best way. Fastest I ever saw a root (not root bump) was day 6 on a super vigorous Satori.

I need to get the SSH into flower ASAP and make F3s. When I can get some cuts off the seedlings, they are going to 12/12.

SSH F2s really wanted the nutes. I had to up the dosage a little. They are stretching more than Cindy and “gmo”. I’ve taken 2 cuts from each and put them under CFLs where they can be up close to the light.

Here they are after taking clones. I’m starting their first 12 hours of darkness in the morning and then lights back on at night. It gets hella hot in this space towards the summer days. Fingers crossed for at least one male and hopefully more than one female to choose from. I really want seeds from this first run.

Tomatoes are taking up all the space under the LEDs but I’ll move the SSH back under them when the tomatoes go outside, probably at the end of April.

Pineapple Cindy and “GMO”. I think I’m about to take more cuts and veg some more. I need to pump out a bit of volume before I pack everything in and complete the move to my new place.

SSH F2 getting too tall for my little CFL veg chamber so, into the LED chamber they go.

12 days after flip. Keeping them hydrated and fed with a little more than 1/4 strength nutes with every watering.

Can’t tell sex yet but I think I saw a male preflower forming. Fingers crossed for plenty o’ pollen.

SSH F2s outgrowing the little cab. Day 21 of 12/12.

We have 3 males (2 tall, 1 short), and 2 females (1 tall, 1 short)

The plan was to collect all the pollen together and use it on each female, then separate the seeds by mother.

Anyone think I should keep the pollen seperated by which male it comes from?

No real updates for Pineapple Cinderella or “GMO”. They are just being used as mother plants and kept short in veg for now.

I counted wrong. 3 males (1 tall, 2 short)

And 2 females (both pretty tall)

I think I’ll keep the tall stud pollen seperate and just combine the two smaller guys for another seed run later on.

The two short males in their new home. I’ll cut the branches and put them in a jar of water, leaning over pyrex dishes to catch.

The one on the left has fatter leaves with almost no stretching out from the nodes.
The right one has thin leaves and all the nodal branches are stretching out.
Maybe I got a NL leaner and a skunk leaner.

The tall male in the cab (maybe a haze leaner?) with the two ladies while he drops pre-flower pollen. I bent the ladies tops down to keep them in the light.

I’ll take his branches and lean them over dishes when he’s really starting to drop.

Looking hazy? Sure is tall.

Should have pollen to spare and I put a clone of him into 12/12 for a bit more to hang onto.

Looking good mate, will be an interesting grow with the ssh i like the diversity in the genetic make-up, its a quality strain especially breeding wise. Et ready for the long haul flowering time but the quality flowers will be well worth it!

Best of luck with it all man

Thanks!
I can’t wait to try a sensi run under the 400w HPS and in decent sized pots.

It will have to wait until I finish moving. Keeping them out of my main flower room because I have some herms in there now.

Feels good to make new generations from the old seeds I had.

SSH F2 females. Both have a heavy scent of black pepper. They are seeded up and still getting hit with pollen from the tallest stud.

I’ve collected pollen from all 3 males for further exploration in the future.

Cinderella Pineapple

Barney’s “GMO”

Those three are at day 15 of 12/12. They were the seed mothers I took a bunch of cuts from.

Here are some of the cuts. I don’t have time to really veg them out so I just put them into 12/12 in their cups.

And here’s a pic of the 400w HPS flower room. Still have some Nightmare OG finishing up in there that are lightly seeding themselves.

Now onto the little LED cab…

SSH F2

Opening the door to the cab, I’m still greeted with that black pepper scent.

They are on day 53 of 12/12 and let me know it’s passed time to stop feeding them extra nutes. They’ll get just water for a few days then lighter feedings as the seeds mature.

So far, I think solo cup seed runs are cool. As far as the new LEDs, I think the cabinet space would be rocking if I put the 150w HPS back in, between the LEDs.

How offten you have to feed SSH?
Cool project. You can play in all direction :slightly_smiling_face:

I usually use a “one-size-fits-all” feed of 1/4 strength nutes with every watering on all my plants. The SSH grew so fast and tall that they wanted a bit stronger than that through the stretch (maybe 1/3 strength).

If I’m reading the plants right, it looks like they are burning slightly (or locking out) so I’m backing off. I’ll probably not feed with every watering and see how they respond.

Here we are at exactly 10 weeks into 12/12. I don’t think they were being overfed as I first thought. I backed off the nutes and they immediately yellowed up. I now think the problem was double cupping the solo cups and overwatering. Such tall plants in little pots hasn’t come without challenge.

Other than that, they are packed with seed all the way down and have about 5% amber trichs. I’m still getting the black pepper scent, just maybe not as intense. I’ll let them go to 12 weeks or longer to get the beans ripened.

They aren’t the prettiest sight, but I’m really excited for this pheno.

Here is the first seed I picked that was trying to fall out of it’s pre-flower bract:
