I want to grow again.
But it needs to be stealth.
I have been looking at 18"x36"x72" metal cabinets.
I’ve been wondering if you can run a viparspectra p2500 in one without ventilation.
Maybe even using a piece of glass to separate the light from the plants and light.
I don’t know how hot a p2500 gets though or how hot a cabinet would get with one in it and no vent. If I kept my apartment low 70s and it only got in the 90s in the cabinet I would be happy.
If not, how much would a cheap piece of glass hurt the light output of the p2500. The cabinets have adjustable shelves sh I could adjust height that way and use like 2 computer fans to cool light space.
I know I could easily work in a 6" online with a can filter but I’m trying to go noiseless.

Your gonna need ventilation regardless in order to circulate air in for the plants don’t consider you will get away without doing so, plus smell will be leaking unless forcefully filtered not making it very stealth, say you pickup an adjustable fan like an ac infinity t6 consider you can run bigger fans slower for less noise, i run mine on setting 2 of 10 and it exhausts 3 smaller cabinets about equal to what your thinking, and you can only hear the fan if standing within 5 feet and thats for people knowing what they’re listening for.
Also a p2500 will be over kill for the space well depending on hang height but a p2000 would work as well.

i am also trying to stealth grow as much as possible. there are certain things i can get away with, like taking up a surprising amount of space with my 3x3 tent. but other things, like noise and smell are a big concern for me and i try to handle them as best as possible.
those ac infinity fans are pretty damn quiet when you run them at the lower settings. i have a 4" inline duct fan that at it’s lowest 1 setting is very difficult to hear, although my room does get occasional passing traffic noise.
there are a few things you could do if you wanted to mask any fan noise. you could either run a fan in your room and just tell people it helps keep you cool or you like the white noise. a small fish tank should make enough ambient noise/bubbling that it should cover your grow noise, but that could be more work to maintain and you might not have the space. if you’re playing music or have a tv show on or something similar, that should be more than enough to cover any noise from your grow area.
when i’m not around, i also try to surround my tent with things that make getting to it harder and also help block more sound. it helps that my room is somewhat messy.

This is very clever advice.
Stealth is relative.
You are going to have fan noise. I had a 12vdc computer fan running at 3/4 speed that was relatively noiseless.
You are going to have smell.
You are going to need ventilation.
Not familiar with that light model so I can’t help there.
Best of luck.
Airflow, airflow, airflow. I grew for years in a Supercloset, $3000 for two metal cabinets with all kinds of plumbing to get the heat out. It never worked well with the doors closed. To much heat to remove with a 600 hps (recommended)
$3500 for this one

idk if you supplemented co2 air exchange isn’t necessary as long as heat is kept in order
Like one of these?
That’s a VIPARSPECTRA XS2000 in the picture (waaaaay overkill). Can’t emphasize enough though how important ventilation (VPD really) is.

Thanks for responding.
I guess Im just going to have to put in a fan and 2 can filters. Another reason I wanted to see if anyone was doing a closed cabinet with LEDs was because I don’t want the plants acting as an air filter. Been there before too. Makes nasty bud soaking up dust and smells. So need one on intake and one on exhaust.
The fish tank thing was already an idea I had. I don’t think anyone will be bothering me but I just moved in so don’t know the landlord real well. Seems like the kind of place not to worry about it but you never know.
What bums me out is it will be November or December before I harvest. Been smoking CBD weed and it’s just not enough.
And if the p2500 is too much it’s dimmable. But I might be mean to the plants. They respond with more resin IME.
Thanks everyone.

My advice is… Do things right.
Smell, you can have the minimum smell with carbon filter but will always need venting.
Noise is a bummer so I would go big on the extractor so you could dimm it down in order to have good airflow and the most discrete ammount of noise, a box for the extractor is a must too.
Unless you can do things right, you will have the risk but not the yeld.
Good luck

Do you have a backyard? Some of these hybridised abc plants are extremely stealth.
The thing about my supercloset carbon filter was it only worked with the doors closed, which, of course, raised temps over 100f in the flowering space. I know nothing about heat with LEDs, still using my old school dimmable 600MH/HPS. If the heat is less now, compensations can be made.
you should consider switching if the budget allows its worth it and you actually tend to need to run hotter with leds as you have alot less IR heat generation, so a 78f under hps is like a 86f under leds, when you actually consider leaf temp and not air, and that also means less fan is needed for cooling.
