Strain Tracking

Hey fellow OGer’s,
I’m currently making a template to track my pheno hunts. I want to create a document that can give me consistent data on each strain I grow and also each phenotype that I end up growing. So I’m here to ask you guys, what do you keep track of when growing your strains to rate them as keepers or not. I’ll list what characteristics i currently track and want to reach out to all of you in case I am missing something.

Strain Name
Root Vigor
Powdery Mildew Resistance
Leaf Shape
Growth Rate
Vegetative Stem Aroma strength
Nutrient Sensitive
PH Sensitive
Stem Color
Intermodal Spacing
Bud Structure
Bud Density
Trichome Density
Final Bud Aroma
Botrytis Resistance
Flowering Period

And then obviously overall effects after consuming.

Please let me know if I’m missing anything!

That is a long a winding bunny hole you are going down… :v:
I know 'cause I’ve been down there…

I’ll have a look for my notes for something presentable…

Root mass/density
As well as trichome shape, stalk height
Greasy or dry (sticky or not)
Age of sex maturity
Mutations
Just my 2 cents
Tbh I don’t go quite this deep but I do love your style

Not sure if this truly covers terp profile, but for many strains, it changes after curing.

No I agree, most veg stem odors change throughout their cycle and very different from the final bud aroma. But hopefully find some trends through recording this data

I like those, appreciate the feedback. Greasy vs dry bud is a sweet characteristics

How do you test for these?

Knowingly get part of your crop infected and see if the others get infected too?

Plant them outdoors close to vines or other disease magnet plant :slightly_smiling_face:

You can even plant the vines yourself in a guerrilla patch and throw willing participants in there lol

I ‘cribbed’ this together from one of Clarke’s books…
This is a earlier draft, I don’t know where I’ve filed the later version…

Actually it all needs to be further developed… but it’s a start…

Basically high humidity and high heat late flower will help see botrytis Resistance and powdery mildew resistance through humidity fluctuations through the grow cycle

for me it would be like:

tripping
flying
emotions
getting introvert/extrovert
feelings of:
love
luck (endorphines)
calmness
stress
energy
intensity
kindness

then for the physical side:

vigor/inbreeding depression, well just health

but i dont think i will make such notes- Ill just give a 1 to 100 rating, cause its like Phenos are different things? wich cant be compared (there are no universal words that fit) but i just can give a Rating? Plus ill take a photo. The photo will help attach the look to the smokesessions, i could actually write diary of the memories (mindtrips) i had of each pheno.

hmm, i guess its much more about effect for me, lol

some biologists make a drawing of their Phenos, so that way they can feel it better, whats inside, by carefully looking at details

Ya you definitely lean more towards feeling. I don’t find cannabis to be as psychedelic as you describe your effects. My effect characteristics are alot more broad. Calm/Energy, body vs head high and intensity

ok, ill add
-mystic
-“rollercoaster gut-feeling” for describing indica

I’m with you there!

50% of my final assessment is the smoke test.
