They have 3 payment tiers for sellers, $30, $100, and $300 a month. Only the $100 plan is required to sell clones, tissue cultures, and spores, still way too much in my opinion.

I finally listed to realize I need to use bitcoin and am unsubscribing and looking for another site to spend another 4 years wasting my time and making sure itā€™s a safe place , what can you recommend?

Good luck. I have had mostly favorable experiences with Strainly.

Hi everyone!

First, thanks for all the feedback. While it may seem like we take ages to take your feedback into account, it is always useful and seriously considered. Indeed, addressing your points can sometimes take a lot more time than we want. We donā€™t want to create more problems when solving oneā€¦

To answer some of the above points:

  • It has always been free to create an account, and will always be. Our number mission is to empower the ā€œsmallā€ guys. The more diversity of offerings, the better for everyone. If we put barriers to entry, our raison dā€™etre no longer exists.
  • We offer paid plans / subscriptions to SELLERS (you will never need to subscribe nor pay any access fee to BUY on Strainly). Those plans are optional for sellers.
  • You can post your items / create listings for FREE on Strainly, with no limitation. Subscription plans are optional if you want more features (run auctions) or exposure.
  • However, in order to filter out potentially opportunistic sellers, we require vendors to be on our Pro plan to offer Clones and TCs. You can have as many Seeds listings as you want, while remaining on the FREE plan.
  • There is no limitation to the number of transactions you can make (we tried limiting based on some usersā€™ feedback in the past but it was too constraining and we removed that limit after a couple of months).
  • We review all listings manually to ensure quality, accuracy and clarity. It can take up to 24 hours to get your listings approved. We understand this can be annoying but believe it is necessary to ensure a certain level of quality and to avoid prohibited items to be listed (this is what kept us alive for all these years). Thanks for your understanding.
  • That said, once you reach 50 positive reviews, the approval process is much faster (a couple of minutes).
  • We will never control prices on Strainly. It is a free market, and if someone wants to look silly by posting a pack for a $100kā€¦ so be it. It is simply impossible for us to draw a line and arbitrarily dictate what something is worth to someone.
  • We NEVER censor anyone who leaves a legitimate review. We are actually 110% for people leaving NEGATIVE reviews, when they are deserved. We often recommend people to leave negative reviews when they say they want to avoid the drama.
  • That said, there are always 2 sides to a story and people rarely (never?) give the full story when complaining. There are all kinds of shady behaviours with people claiming things that never happened, or threatening othersā€¦ When you leave a negative review pretending you never received the item but tracking says you did, and then you flip the story claiming it is not as described but refuse to send photos or pretend you already threw it to the garbageā€¦ A negative review can be removed for not being substantial enough. As you can imagine, there are occurrences of people throwing shades on other vendors to kill their competitorsā€¦ Also, when you threaten someone, you are banned permanently. We cannot afford to have that on Strainly.
  • Now, we want to be VERY CLEAR that subscribed / paid members will NEVER get a free pass to cut corners and get away with only positive reviews. When you think about it, do you believe itā€™s worth $100 of monthly revenue for us to let someone rip off members for hundreds? NO. It destroys our reputation. We are very quick to ban scammers. We have banned paid members. We have used the proceeds of their subscriptions to refund a few people who had been ripped off. We tightened the verification process over the years and have been ever quicker to ban bad vendors.
  • Another way to get banned quickly is to game our review system to get 3 fake reviews and be able to post immediately. This is what happened to a couple of people on this thread. Assuming most of you will understand why we would ban someone who just signed up and asks everyone to ā€œleave them a positive review so that they can start postingā€ when no transaction is actually happening and this new member could obviously be a scammer. If the first thing you do after signing up is to game our system and violate our terms of use, expect to be banned. Hopefully it sounds reasonable.
  • Regarding payments, we have spent most of the past 5 years looking for payment processing options. We spoke to dozens of payment processors, supposedly 420-friendly. The fine prints and/or the fees were always unacceptable to us (and our users).
  • Moreover, we take privacy VERY seriously. We do not KYC (require your ID) to use Strainly and never will. We just wonā€™t cross that line. In order to provide fiat (USD, CAD, EURā€¦) payment processing, KYC is required. It means that your transactions and your ID are tied. Many online stores and apps in this industry do not worry too much about this topic. If they happen to be subpoenaed (for whatever reason), their clientsā€™ IDs may end up being leaked to all kinds of agencies/parties. The best way to mitigate that risk for our users is to NEVER collect that info in the first place.
  • Traditional payments with credit/debit cards appear on bank/card statements. All deposits and transfers can be traced. Again, this is something we aim to avoid for our users. Privacy is key in our opinion.
  • Cash payments (cash in mail) are just not an option for many reasons. It can easily be seized/stollen. It is hard to confirm that the correct amount was sent. It is not fit for larger amounts. In case of a dispute, it makes it impossible for us to confirm whether the correct amount was sent and received, etc.
  • After years of benchmarking and brainstorming, we came to the conclusion that Bitcoin payments were the best tradeoff. Yes Bitcoin payments are visible on the Bitcoin blockchain, but no ID is tied to any payment. The purpose of the transaction does not appear on the blockchain. It is just a string of characters.
  • Without going into the details, our system ensures maximum privacy, using best practices. We have worked on its development for 10 months now.
  • In terms of fraud/chargebacks, we also wanted to avoid having a payment system that allowed vendors to experience chargebacks after successful delivery. Bitcoin payments are irreversible. Fraud is impossible.
  • Regarding fees, our Bitcoin payment system is configured to minimize fees for all parties. We developed our own system. The payments are not processed by a third-party.
  • We appreciate that some of you may find using Bitcoin overwhelming. However, options really improved over the past year. A lot of you already use CashApp. CashApp now allows you to buy/sell and send/receive Bitcoin easily. Paypal and Venmo also allow to buy and send Bitcoin. We provide all the necessary guidance in our How it works section as well as on our blog. We will take all the time necessary to walk you through making your first Bitcoin transactions, never hesitate to reach out. Once you make your first Bitcoin transaction, you will be amazed by how trivial and fast it is! It really is.
  • We are about to implement Bitcoin payments between parties (likely this week). It allows us to offer buyers protection (something many of you have asked for a long time). The other payment options were simply too costly to allow us to provide such a service. The fees would have added up to almost 20% of transactions and expose your ID to third parties.
  • With our Bitcoin payment system, you can create your own wallet, which we have no control nor any visibility on (it is called ā€œnoncustodial walletā€) and receive payments instantly. We will take a reasonable fee (% of transaction) to afford the buyersā€™ protection that was long awaited.
  • As a buyer you can simply pay Bitcoin invoices directly from CashApp. As a vendor, you will be able to transfer your Bitcoin balance back (immediately) to CashApp or the exchange of your choice, to convert back into USD, EUR, etc.
  • We are working on a partnership to allow vendors to directly use their Bitcoin balance to instantly buy prepaid Visa cards anonymously. This will allow vendors to directly spend their proceeds however they want, online or in physical stores. All of this is 100% legal, legit and compliant.

Hoping that answers most of the questions and comments above. If you have more questions, please do not hesitate to reach out via our platform.

Thanks for your patience (we have limited means) and understanding.

If you want to use other payment payments on the side, parties will not be able to dispute nor to enjoy buyers protection.
We explain why we made this decision in details above. If you use CashApp, it is trivial to send Bitcoin.
Thanks!

If your reason for using Bitcoin is privacy thatā€™s not how the technology works. In fact itā€™s quite the opposite as all transactions are visible via the block chain.

Bitcoin is just as traceable as a credit card if not more so. Here is one of many block explores https://blockstream.info/

Hi there,

You probably know that no ID data is linked on the blockchain, as we can all see on https://blockstream.info/ . As explained above (sorry for the long post), we do not require any ID to use Strainly and our system generates a unique address for each transaction. A single user has an endless number of addresses, a unique one for each transaction.

Also, all transactions below $200, go through the Lightning Network, which is also called ā€œoff-chainā€. It means NONE of these transactions are on the bitcoin blockchain.

In these conditions, it is impossible to tie an individual (and therefore an ID) to a Bitcoin transaction made via Strainly.

Compared to what people have mostly been using (i.e Paypal, CashApp and Venmo), it is a significant improvement in terms of privacy.

Hoping that answers your concerns.

I appreciate the update and know how to use bitcoin and am grateful. Itā€™s great policy and will make transactions on the site faster and easier. I donā€™t think anyone has ever been tracked down using bitcoin to buy seeds. Maybe this site could use a tutorial of how to use the non kyc exchanges?

Thanks for your feedback.

All vendors receive guidance on how to remain private and use non-KYC exchanges.
Bull Bitcoin in Canada (no KYC under $1000).
Relai in Europe (no KYC under EUR 90K per year)
The Bitcoin Company sells you VISA cards no-KYC up to $1000, worldwide.

All 100% legal and legit.

No one is tripping about getting a pack of seeds anymore

Iā€™m a lot more concerned about the tax man hitting me over the head somehow for using bitcoin than I am the DEA man coming after me for seeds. Bitcoin, under the current American tax rules, is cancer.

So just to be clear I donā€™t think anyone would go through the trouble of connecting the transactions.

The fact that its on the lighting network is cool and all but it doesnā€™t make it anonymous. The weak point will always be going from bank account to BTC and BTC to cash. So unless your using cash to buy Bitcoin I would call it obfuscation not anonymity.

IMHO just use prepaid visas bought with cash. There will be less fees and a higher level of anonymity. Also the technical barrier will be lower for using them.

@logangrowgan2020 is on point with the tax man. I would fear him over buying any seeds or clones.

If you sell clones and seeds as a side hustle, Paypal, CashApp and Venmo could soon communicate your revenue above $600 to the IRS. This requirement has only been delayed.

The prepaid VISA bought with Cash is interesting, but you still need a payment processor to make your payment. And no payment processor accepts our industry with acceptable terms/fees. The execs of Eaze lied to their payment processor pretending to be another business in order to get better terms. They sleep in jail now.

Also, as a seller, when you get paid with that prepaid no-KYC card, you receive it somewhere your ID is tied (Paypal, bank accountā€¦)

As a buyer, you can pay a BTC invoice with your USD balance on Strike. Watch how it works.. You do not touch BTC.
As a seller you receive your BTC and can instantly convert your BTC balance from your Strainly wallet to your Strike USD cash balance, as if it was coming from a third-party.
