Read most “gorilla style methods. Intrigued by 70’s high times article doing this with buried water
source. Then wicked the top of buried water.
I’ll have a back hoe soon. Can’t hurt.
My get by is gallon milk/juice containers with holes drilled.burried.
wicks, wicking of deliverable water. What wicks best for 8’ plants
In 100+ heat for a couple or three months. Feed, water, mulch, management of growth.
Girls use lots of and much much more to come.
Water that is…
I’m giving my memory a shot. Starting for next yr, I remember the article. Just don’t know how to find out capillary
Any outdoor unattended success in this matter?

The backhoe + guerilla has me confused.
Planting on the back 60 acres.
Have to do your due diligence with uninvited deer hunters.
Wrong time of the year to have strangers or friends around sensitive
areas. So i put out plants in different areas. To much work hauling
water, daily soon. The back 60 is untilled and wild. No reason but me to be down there.
I would like to have 10’s of more 3x5’ holes.
The ht article had a 3x5’ hole per plant. Not diggin ditches much less
3x5’ holes. Now the backhoe… it can dig 3x5’ holes. Manage soils, tree
Shit. Plus they are just plain fun/cool. I need one as well…
So there might be many hoes…lol
Cameras, drones, scary territorial animals plus cameras, did I say cameras?
So I will be wintertime digging holes this winter.
The place is very pretty. Secluded, one older neighbor w 30.06 Winchester.
Choice place for seclusion.
Any help with wick capacity as multiple wicks were used in High Times article
Trans High publication ala 1977-81? Idk…I remember the article. Don’t think it really said. I’m thinking
20ish wicks to root zones. Sub surfaced wicks.
Gophers? Wire wrap wicks to a certain point. 1” cotton rope seems most logical. Water socks very $$
Rope works, idk about cotton water absorbing sock (for floods)
Not much mainstream info Wicking large plants. Not advised but no whitepaper documentation. The negative information could have been, Larry,Larry and Daryl…
So by gosh if it was in High Times you know it’s true!
But I’ve always remembered that article. I Just think you need multiple wicks and emergency 6” diameter “pipe” into root zones for nutes and emergencies, I’m thinking it’s good. I have a well and aquifer. Work is the issue.
Never change…

Do some googlefu for the term Olla, they are a traditional unglazed ceramic pots that will slowly release water over time. It’s what you are looking for only in a more modern plastic version.

And check out SIP techniques from Israel
How far down is the water table? (in summer)
Would running buried irrigation lines work easier?
The plants can’t get enough water other as subsurface irrigation goes. Aguaholics…
Thus reason for capillary action of cotton rope, homemade wicks capacity…
Ollas couldn’t keep up. Buckets and multiple milk ctgs… Want better system.
Thanks. Anyone know how to measure max capillary capacity?
I’ll figure out. Might email ht’s? Always good to network.

Will probably use 55 gallon plastic trash containers. Water in Shaded area.
/control/manifold deep drip this season.
Waterlines, water well sub pump, deep drip install in winter.
Back up to buried wicked water source.
