When cookies first chowed up in the san francisco dispensary scene I was given some s1’s that a dealer called durban pie or pre-cookies. The dealer said they got it as bagseed from the initial dispensary batch that berner bought from a supplier and labeled as girl scout cookies. Supposedly the same bagseed that berner started the cookies line with.
Without speculating on legitimacy, I know the dealer had this when cookies was only available from that dispensary that berner worked at. It grew like cookies but more vigorous with four branches at every node. Incredible structure, I have never seen 4 branches on each node before or since. Loaded with buds.
Better resin production on the leaves, and smoked like cookies with a more complex high and more intense flavor. It smelled like gasoline and something rotten, kind of like dark chocolate but nasty, and when you handled the buds you could smell hints of mint and sweetness.
Here’s a few photos of that one:
This early s1 dealer line was the only cookies line I really loved the high from.
I can’t confirm anything about its origins but it was definitely very early like around 2011, and definitely related to cookies in some way.
Has anybody heard of this stuff? The dealer wasn’t large scale, this line may be an “isolated incident” I’m not sure how many people smoked this stuff and don’t know if he gave it to anyone else.
the line lives on in a polyhybrid. I crossed it to another old black market / prop 215 collective line called Surf’s Up (thai x canadian 50 day indica), and then a few years later I mixed the line with bodhi’s blue dream hashplant.
durban pie x surf’s up x sc blue dream hashplant
I call that line surfin’ blue durban.
It’s amazing for outdoor growing here in the rainy pnw. finishes early, dark color, big colas, good bud rot resistance. I gave that line to a friend because I feel like the genepool is saturated with cookies genetics and I didn’t have an interest in working with cookies genetics long term.
But now I am asking him to give me back a handful of seeds so I can take another look at that line next outdoor season. Will be useful for outdoor yields.
If anyone is interested I have some photos of the durban pie x surf’s up mother plant as well. It was an interesting plant, I grew that as a clone and indoors it showed a thai expression but outdoors it showed mostly the durban pie characteristics.
That totally makes sense. I’ve never been big on cookies because the smell and flavor was sweet not dank. But Green Door had the best strongest cookies bud around 2010-12. It totally makes sense that it was actually a different cut. That bud turned you into a retard, and had that really sweet smell.
The forum cut and hybrids I have tried since then were like poor imitations of what green door had.
and man, I still want grapes. I never stopped craving that purple.
