Sun Clone May Community Chat

Happy May Day, all!

Okay, straight to business… I’d genuinely appreciate all constructive feedback!

I want to hear from you what makes you trust a company you purchase from. Is it responsiveness, social media presence, plant quality, transparency, something else?

And how does Sun Clone fare against your needs? What can we do that would instill more trust in us?

I look forward to starting a conversation with you and we shirk the cold weather!

Hi @Sun-Clone I can’t give a ton of relevant conversation here because I’ve not purchased a clone before (from anyone). I think though that if I enter that market I will likely look for folks who are doing some documenting of their plants they’re selling. I know that isn’t the most common practice, but we are talking about instilling trust. I think if I saw someone or a company that sold clones documenting life cycles of their mothers and how they flower out I would be way more trusting when it came to purchasing.

It’s similar to seed sellers some get my interest because they’re showing me what to expect, others, not so much.

I find it very refreshing that you, as a “social media rep”(OG Sponsor), appear to showing genuine concern about the image of this company you are part of.
That says alot about you…not SunClone.

I get the feeling that you know where most of these comments will be directed towards. HLVD testing and public test results. The same flack you’ve been getting from our members for months.
And with good reason.

For me to trust a company at all, communication and transparency are of the utmost importance. Responses to phone calls, text, or email in a timely manner. Answering questions intelligently.
Speaking with confidence…not arrogance.

I think you are doin great with what ya got. Opening this discussion should yield some great feedback. Best wishes!

Full disclosure: I do not take in clones.

Looks like a nice collection of genetics. And the prices are very reasonable. I’ve been searching for a good Bruce Banner clone.

I wish you had the verified cut of clones like Triangle Kush. The one I got from you wasn’t legit. That being said I have ordered 4-5 times and they always come in looking great. Some cuts are legit like Pure Kush which I really liked. I never had a delivery that wasn’t clean or had any issues with the quality of the clones. I will definitely keep ordering

Thanks for your feedback! We have weekly documentation of our most previous flower round, however, that doesn’t include all of our strains because it was a couple years ago and some of our strains were added to our library after that.

From my understanding, we won’t be doing a flower round this summer.

I did, however, go say hi to our cloners yesterday in our Mom House and they are looking big and bushy (our Moms, not our Cloners haha)! I’m not super well-versed in the growing process, but our cloners have said our Moms are in pretty good shape.

But, if it sounds like something our community would be interested in, I can look into the feasibility of publishing something like a monthly “Mom Check-In”. Thoughts?

The need for public testing results is completely fair, and I want that too! I’m a huge fan of transparency, so I think even less than ideal test results and a plan of action to fix the issue is the best course of action.

However, and I mentioned this yesterday on another post of ours, I’m not sure of the status of our testing effort. The last I heard we had some of our strains tested and that batch came back all negative, but I can’t speak to specific strains since I wasn’t on the team that managed the testing. I’ll keep bugging the powers that be about it

As for customer service, we do our best to answer phone calls, chats, and emails quickly and intelligently, and when we are unavailable there are a couple places on our website that have educational material for growers!

Thanks for the feedback!

I like the way you think. As a sponsor you could do a thread on OG and post at least some occasional shots for us to see. Even without a flower round you’d be showing growth and structure for the uninitiated like me. I’d follow that.

Thank you for your response it’s good business for sponsors to interact more. Seems most do the whole “hello, how is everyone, and ghost” approach to marketing.

I’ve never bought clones, but I’ve looked at your store a few times and considered it. I already posted about testing for HLVD and other viroids/diseases/pests in your earlier thread, so I won’t belabor it here, but it is the main thing keeping me from buying. I like your prices and I like your website, especially the clones where you show week by week examples. I think that would be even better if you had lab results for cannabinoids and terpene levels for those grows. Even if you are not flowering this summer, I bet you could get lots of pictures and test results from your customers.

I’m very interested in the Motorbreath 15, is there any specifics on the authenticity?

I wish all clone sellers would disclose the chain of custody from their plants. It’s not that hard to do and it would help the customer and the community keep better track of things

Do you mean like a paper trail for the genetics are sourced from? (i.e. I got it from Joe, who got it from Frank, who got it from Sue?)

I’d imagine that could potentially be difficult, depending on how long the next previous source has had the genetics, similar to how it’s difficult to map a person’s family tree if the paperwork isn’t solid.

Most of our cuts we get directly from a breeder, or are one degree of separation away from the breeder. A couple others we pheno-hunted in-house.

I know it’s not practical to list every hand that’s passed it on but maybe just a quick story on how far you’ve traced it back. Like a few people down the line got it from this person everyone knows is legit or a known nursery or distributor. The bottom line is it helps the seller if the potential customers are reassured that it’s a legitimate cutting and has some type of history that can be followed back. Unfortunately there’s a lot of misrepresentations of popular clones and it’s really hard to know who to trust. Also once a good reputation is established people will be more likely to buy with confidence.

I’d like to inform you that the current @Sun-Clone pre-paid campaign has expired, and I’ve decided not to continue our partnership.
