This is gonna be a thread for my Dark Devil XL Red Automatic by Sweet Seeds. These seeds are supposed to give 80% purple/red phenos, so i guess we’ll see, i got 5 of them.
These ones will be transplanted to coco chips in one gallon hempy buckets. Wish me luck.
They are 12 days old.

Here they are in their hempy buckets, these are one gallon hempys with coco husks only, i separated all the pith and fibers from the husk chips and that’s what i used. They got 400mL of 5.7pH’d water with 1.1EC, lights running at 200W on 18/6 all the way.
When the roots reach the bottom of the pot, i will have to water very little and there will be no nute waste. Hopefully.

I’m watching to see how this goes.
I love running hempy buckets.
Good luck you mad man.

That’s how i did the challenge, so it should be good. We’ll see.
Coco husks instead of perlite, that’s the only change.

That and a bit more room for the roots.
LOL!

This is today. They got 400 mL of pH’d water @ 5.8 with 1.6EC, what the heck! We’ll see how they turn out to be.
Hempy buckets, will have to wait a week to pour the nutes to the bottom of the reservoir, will be using a funnel to make sure the coco on the top stays dry all the way, in order to avoid algae. If this hempy bucket method works, i might be sticking to it all the way, super easy to maintain, just pour nute water until the hole starts to drip and that’s it.
This is my real gain from the Cup Challenge.
Remember me with the perlite. I would have never dared to try this out if it wasn’t for the experience from the Challenge. WOOHOO!

At that rate you should get 4 plants with the purple/red pheno! Pretty good chance if you ask me.
I’ll be following along, I have been hearing good things from @Mr.Sparkle about Sweet Seeds and wanna try them some day.

I fed them 500mL of pH’d water @ 5.7, and EC 1.4. A little stream thru the stem all the way down to the reservoir, there was some run off and it was measured at 6.2pH. It had a day or two in there, so the coco chips are still changing the pH on the reservoir nute water, good to know. To make adjustments.

Hello everyone and thanks for tuning in.
I was giving them 650mL to make for some runoff during the first few days, to make the roots reach the reservoir. Now the plants are big and getting bigger by the minute, once they touch the nute water at the bottom their growth is exponential. There were 5 to begin with but only four made it in the tent with all the works. Here!
They are only getting 500mL of nute pH’d water every two or three days, it’s lovely. Barely no wasting nutes, controlling and monitorinf pH is easy and i am loving it. Their timer is set to 20/4.
These are one gallon hempy buckets!

EDIT, after taking the pics i removed the plants and got rid off excess water at the reservoir to feed them with 50% Veg-50% Bloom nutes in order to assist the already showing preflowers. I believe this is necessary for at least the first two weeks of flowering, the plants are still stretching and also need their PK. So yeah that is my thinking.
I cleaned everything real nice and neat too.

Looking good man
nice healthy colour
That might mean they need feeding as I tend to under feed everything
or so I used to get told on another forum
sure somebody more knowledgeable will say…

Thanks man! I will feed them every week with new pH’d nute water. Thanks for looking out bro!
I believe they are hungry when they drop a bit not when they are in a good hydrostatic pressure level. Anyway, i will keep a close eye on them and avoid any problems.

It wasnt a dig man, I honestly think they look exactly the right colour
as you say they look “perky”
I always went with under instead of over feeding and its a habit I have kept

1.9EC @5.9pH 500mL each. A mixture of 3mL Grow, 7mL Bloom & 4mL Cal-Mag in half gallon tap water.
TechnaFlora has my respect.
They are making me look good, the weed i got from the three little hydroponic ones from the challenge has got to be the best i have grown yet. So yeah man!
