Temperature for clone propagation vs. Seed starting

What temps do you smart folks set a heat mat for to root snips??
My seed starting game is fire but i think my heat mat may be hotter than cuttings like to root in.
Is 79° at the root zone too much? Internet seems to think closer to 70° for snips.

I’m pretty sure I have mine set to 75°F for both my clones and seedlings, clones particularly I think don’t want it much beyond room temperature.

'Preciate it thanks. Ill try and cool it down. Figured as long as there was plenty of humidity id be ok. I need a thermostat equiped mat.

Just use a temperature controller if ya got one.
Put the probe between the mat and the tray.

OK, I’ll bite…

I use a crappy old unregulated heat mat, with two layers of bath towels between it and the bottom of the germination tray.

The water in the tray reaches 75 degrees Fahrenheit, 23.9 Celsius.

With the dome on and the vents closed the rooter cubes reach 77 degrees F, 25 C.

I treat seeds and cuts the same way, opening and closing the vents to control humifdity, and adding water when I want the roots to search downward. Lots of misting with SuperThrive too.

mine is set to 24c. With the LED lights above the dome it averages 23-25c.

Seeds are the same; just they are scuffed, then floating in h20/h202 in the dark at these temps and in 18-36hrs I have tails or: 1: seed was dead, 2: shell is tough.

I just popped 4x queen mother sativa this way and 3 were all good off the start with the 4th no tail after 36 hours. I tried popping it by hand and it’s solid. So I scuffed it for 3min as serious overkill and re-floated it.

24 hours later there was a tail but sadly it helmet headed itself to death cause the casing was just that fucking beefy!

(24c is the bulk of the world’s translation of 75f  )

… but can you actually call them that anymore with the situation going on?

Horrible joke but all the information streams not hammered down does not bring that particular “f word” to mind anymore. So many good people suffering for stupid reasons.

But yeah! hopefully soon again but someones gotta pickup their bootstraps and do something cause no one is coming to the rescue.

(Brought to you by a Canuck that can see the border across the lake and like the bulk of the rest of us up here am both saddened and in total confusion why things are happening the way they are.)

But yes: 75.2f is what I’d set it for!

I’m not confused.

Clones definitely dont like the temperature to be close to 80 i have found.
I think 70-75 is ideal

Bro-ham, im right there with you. It was more of a wry joke these days.
And coming from a yank thats seen alot of administrations come and go…sorry.(spoken with canuck accent)
You know this aint who we are, at least i hope it isnt.

100%!

My confusion stems from knowing so many fine people in the states and yet this!

I used to do batches of 15-1800 clones every few weeks, and I can attest once youre pushin 80, a lot of issues can arise. I used to keep the temps at 68-72 for 95%+ rooting rates. And if it got up to 78, Id assume Id lose half of em.

Imagine how confused (and deeply disappointed) some of us are… I want nothing to did with all this simple minded nonsense, yet here I am.

On topic, I gave up with the heat mats long ago. Especially for seedlings. They’re usually lucky if I’m not purposely torturing them.:joy:

The local weather all around the lab’ should decide the right temps imho.

By example i have a solid 50% RH all the year. A bro in AZ have these stats only at night ^^, then half the day.

He had hard time with chelated nutes, each watering in mediums finished the cycle quite salty-nasty. Making hydro a game-changer option in term of grade of the weed for him. I’m in the reverse shit. He run after the water that is flying faster than nutes, i run after the nutes that are flying faster than water ^^

So yeah sometimes, the terroir is just the key of adaptation more than optimal parameters.

My local weather is perfect now. Not too hot not too humid.
My plants usually suffer from too much love in the forecast.

Much ado about a couple of degrees. I pop seeds and clone at room temp which I keep chilly.
