Hello I was wondering im mainly growing indoors and want to give a try outdoors and before wasting seeds and having plants die out or get stupidly stunted what would everyone recommended the outdoor temps to be maybe in F/c?
Focus on the proper strain for your area. Harvest has to happen before the cold of fall/winter hits. If your strain is not finished by then you will get nothing in return. Putting them outside at the proper time also depends on your local climate. Putting them OD when the night time temps do not fall below 50 degrees is ideal but once again it is all relative to finish time also. If humidity is high in your area there is the matter of PM/mold so density of bud will be important to factor in.
Do some research and you will figure it out to a degree. Good luck and grow hard!
Are you planning on controlling mother nature? Haha I would focus on finding a good spot with plenty of sun but not blazing hot all day. If not in ground then bigger containers are the way to go and prepare for critters to take an interest
Just like old joints mentioned, finding the right genetics for your area is the key to outdoor. I’ve ran outdoor grows that stayed super mild, but Ive also seen a lotttt of farms that would get 110+ every day for months. I ran one spot that would be 115-125 in the day, and get below freezing every night, and the plants did great. They just drink a ton of water.
All of the above… plus give some thought to the hours of daylight available at your latitude. Ideally you’d want to start a plant so that it’s getting a decreasing number of hours of daylight around the time it’s trying to finish. Therefore avoiding a scenario of getting frosts when it’s still got three weeks to go.
Soil min 55f. You will need night time air temps above 40f but they can survive lower. Planting reg seeds early will Not make them finish sooner.
I usually plant my first clones outside right when i see my first white guy in shorts, at the earliest.
thanks everyone for the ideas and tips I will take everything in for this grow and will give it a try and like someone said above choosing the right culitvars will help the best
Was going to say have some of them white guys wearing shorts and sweaters right now temps are 60-80 during the days at nights we in the mid 40’s right now thought so im hoping at the end of the month latest half way into next month the plants will be going from indoors too outdoors! They will be maybe 1-3 weeks old by the time they go outside and start growing as i always get my girls started indoors and out of the danger zone of seedling stage
That was one thing I was looking at/ thinking about at the same time because the temp above the soil is warm, I’m sure the soil around maybe 1 foot down will be still cold if not the top soil/layer
In So. Cal we never get freezing temps. So pretty much all year works. In Jan, Feb and part of March your plants can turn purple in the colder temps.
