Terpenes. The smell behind cannabis

Terpenes are a huge group of organic compounds produced by lots of plants and some animals or insects. They contribute to the smell of things like oranges, flowers, trees, and our favorite plant cannabis. There are many many different kinds of terpenes and when certain ones show up together they create a terpene profile. This profile is why everything smells different and why our plants can smell like anything from dirty feet to watermelons to gas. There is a company called blue river extracts ran by Tony Verzura that extracts cannabis terpene profiles. These have no cannabinoids in them so they are legal everywhere. These terpenes along with the cannabinoids are the reason each plant gives you a different feeling. They modify the effects of the cannabinoids. If you have tried isolates youll notice how weird pure cannabinoids are. But when mixed with terpenes and/or other cannabinoids they create a beautiful effect that we all have come to know and love. You can buy the terpene profiles at www.blueriverextracts.ca . I dont believe they are for retail in the states anymore. Only wholesale unfortunatly. But you can find them retailed at places.

Salutations Lotus710,

Just in case, is there a mix which can emulate the characteristic smell of burnt cannabis WITHOUT combustion?

I’m thinking of e-Cig/vapo applications for the nostalgic ex-smokers…

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

I feel that would be a degredation of terpenes. Seems like a good idea though!XD

You mean roach terps? LOL

I got addicted to those terpenes, then they stopped selling them in the states. I ordered one of the new trinity pens they keep hitting on Hash Church though.

Hi again Lotus710

I feel that would be a degredation of terpenes.

Indeed, over-heating ain’t magically turning our favourite noble molecules into something even better once abused. Which by the way urges me to point out the invention of a rolling paper machine was the seed of abuse on a planetary scale relatively to bigot anti-cannabic prohibition, because IMO this is what that is to burn cannabis when it could be consumed in so many superior ways which don’t actually vilify the plant and all things associated. I’ll push the argument as far as to commit the 1st admission as a vilifier of cannabis (!): as a smoker myself i’ve proven guilty of vilification, routinely for decades… I suppose the appropriate punishment for this crime shoulf be severe, instead our subsidized nicotine patches prefered by Canuck self-serving so-called “civil servants” who proved to be primary socio-toxic agents since at least 1923, as far as i’m concerned, euh…

But i’m shooting wild in all directions, apologies!

Anyway this is to illustrate how a succe$$ful invention of 1883 or a politic of 1923 transfering to Ottawa what used to be a provincial field of expertise between 1885 and 1923, in Québec that is, so no wonder the rest of Canada never heard of it, euh… To put all this briefly, sometimes new ain’t better, in those cases as mentioned in USA it happened to be socio-toxic enough for a police agent to throw an incapacitating grenade in the bed of a 2 yr-old baby, the century after. So James Bonsack and his 1881 patent were a disaster for today’s “stoners”/“droÿé” on planet Itnoc. Ouf! M’well, i’m suddenly worried if my scenario should eventually become reality it doesn’t necessarily mean this would be a long-term improvement worth the effort…

To close this long wandering i’d conclude even if i could have that magic ingredient that vaporizers presently lack i’ve got to wonder if it’s truly beneficial, reliable, etc. Otherwise that could just be a killer for the rolling paper industry! In other words a weapon of massive seduction capable of performing genuine good In The Name Of Children, by causing rolling paper inventories to shrink to zero, hence effectively resolving part of a very old public health problem where minors are vulnerable.

This present government wants to send people in prison for 10, maybe 15 years if they ever dare commit one of those “new crimes” so dear to Trudeau’s Liberals. So i figure should dad explain in a responsable manner to his son the truth about cannabis then junior ends up a victim of propaganda taking childs as hostages, since the dry flower then provides the bigots a way to frighten populations by destroying pro-cannabic families. And remember the law is hurting a full-grown man though it’s still a kid who’s going to be raised without a father.

Remove all vilification elements as rolling paper then the health threath is eventually resolved then there’s no sane motives to KILL a man in Canada over 8 oz. anymore, etc. Euh… Shooting wide again!

So if there’s no danger and cannabis is available in forms other than socio-toxic THC-only strains (another way to self-vilify promoted by Ottawa), etc. Well then dad stays home to fulfill his father duty instead, leaving the inocent child UNHARMED comparatively to causing permanent prejudice by cruel trauma, for ideologic reasons. Etc., etc.

Ultimately, do we want a terpene mix which will render all vapes equal to “joints” if that’s going to be yet another rolling paper machine kind of historical event??

Maybe once it’s been identified that would be great to get some serious research, no tricks, no hiding in a secret “exerts” convention in Montréal… Etc, etc.

Yet i’d certainly try my best to be among the 1st consumers to experiment it, of course. :innocent:

Seems like a good idea though!

Maybe, or maybe not. But i know someone somehere someday must do this in hope that just might contribute to save the lost children of planet Itnoc!.. E. G. The Saint-Graäl of cannabis consumers!!

Too bad Justin prefered to give our astronaut politician trains to play with instead of true science. We may never know how far terpene research could change planet Itnoc!

A pity Canuck voters allowed themselves to listen at the sirens, now it’s quite too late and that’s not as if the world didn’t get a hint when Hilary Geller was chosen in preparation of UNGASS 2016.

…

Wow, and i made a few circles around terpenes nonetheless. How do i score?

:yum:

Hummm… I never got access to roach terps, actually i’m not even sure what that would be like to sample it. Not to mention these days i still have to break the 50 ~ 60 tokes a day threashold (on 1 single gram)… While T-Breaks are a thing of the past.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

Salutations Scissor-Hanz,

You find me forced to admit i was never this short on goodies these few last years as a vaporist.

But i guess as an ex-smoker i got the idea just fine, though i seriously doubt that’s adequate for the task as explained, not even close i believe. Still, i have no 1st-hand experience, please feel free to share, eventually!

In any case it would require me to be a damn junkie addict in crisis to consider trying that, correct?

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

Ya, man.
Don’t do it! I was just kidding ya.
I’ll admit, I tried it as a young man. :persevere:

Yuk!!

High again Scissor-Hanz7m,

M’well, a bit of humor doesn’t hurt. Seriously, i’ve had less-than-perfect hashish in the good old days - one good reason to prefer dry flowers today, by the way, unless it’s direct from a trustable fellow of course, euh…

But gee! That must be genuinely, euh… Awful!..

So it supports what i’ve come to conclude, that it all started with Liberals in 1923 and now i read from a fellow consumer who admits being desperate enough to try what you suggested. It’s all too clear, i’m sure this was prejudice that left lasting trauma traces, in the name of children as imagined by Henri-Sévérin Béland and his numerous followers!

To condemn to total abstaining with no alternative but to make young men smoke “roaches” is most certainly the ultimate form of bigot anti-cannabic vilification i could have imagined. As members of sacrified generations i propose that we need to sue Ottawa up to the supreme court dude!!

That was a joke too, with some founding in my usual line of thinking. Thanks for taking no offence.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

@LemonadeJoe can you split this topic please?? Everyone got off topic and needs to be posted in the rosin tech topic

interesting, I’ve gone “vaporist” like Egzo. the only time I smoke is blazing big joints with a group before a show or something. Once you’ve gone over to the vapor side, smoke starts to taste awful.

I’m surprised that some friends insist on smoking, even when hitting huge bags of dense vapor out of the Volcano. A lot of people like the taste of smoke, the feeling of heat and pressure in the lungs, the extra headrush from carbon monoxide & other stuff. It’s cool though, the best studies we have say that even heavy smoking for 30 years doesn’t increase chances of cancer.

IMO the Volcano rules over all the other vapes. Even Storz and Bickel’s own portable vapes do not have the vapor quality of the Volcano. The terpene flavor is incredible, especially if you run the first few bags at lower temps. I do a final run at 390 degrees to get all the medical ingredients out.

I’ve often challenged people doing dabs to take a couple balloons of dense vapor and see what it does. The Volcano vapor stream is very pure cannabinoid oils and terpenes, virtually nothing else.
