Crippy Smoke Report
I managed to get a nice slow drying process lasting 9 days before the buds were ready for the jar (amb. = 65F, 64% RH).
They were carefully removed from the stalks, transferred to amber mason jars and stored at 65F for a month to cure.
As I indicated earlier, I had concerns in regards to Crippy Xmas A2 x BX2 #3 when I harvested. It was displaying what looked like seeds at the apex of half a dozen buds and had a couple late flower nanners stashed in the ‘under buds’ (no signs of pollen). The seeds were hollow with the pistils coming out of the top. I haven’t seen that before, she really really wanted to reproduce but was thwarted in the end…
I found two bud structures; the CXA2 x BX2 buds were a more open structure, more reminiscent of a Sativa to my mind. The CXB x BX2 buds were somewhat larger and denser.
Over the last couple weeks I cracked a new jar each night and sampled the wares.
A word of caution, I’d say my taste buds are somewhat beat up and I found it a challenge at times to describe what I was tasting…
My judgment of strength… My tolerance is ‘high’ as in my normal daily fare is a 50mg edible then followed later by vaping a gram of flower and possibly a dab or two of bubble hash even later in the evening…
For this sampling, no edibles or bubble, just the Crippy bud.
To my thinking, all of the Crippys are around 1 to 2 Sigma above average strength, not a creeper high either, more like a glider gently lifting off and it builds at a good pace. If you are prone to anxiety, be careful, this probably isn’t the weed for you. Interestingly I could feel the body stone long after the high had passed. In fact I slept like the dead. This may have some medical benefits for a few folks in that regard.
CXA x BX2 plants (3)
I’d describe them as sour pine, now the pine ran from “yup, that’s pine” to a subdued pine aftertaste. #3 (see above) was a sour ‘something’ and it was stronger than her sisters. There was a definite spectrum of the flavours with these girls.
CXB x CXA plants (2)
The buds are similar structure to the CXA plants
I found a fruity ‘not pine’ and a notably strong “not pine” that was a little rough on the end note (this may improve with further aging)
CXB x BX plants (2)
The 1st girl was fruity and OK. The 2nd very nice menthol pine… so nice it was hard to put the jar away… The pine was loud but the menthol was ‘blast your hair back’ If you find one of these… this is what you want to have for a ‘mother’. It will be interesting to see how this jar ages (#1 favorite).
TCA x BX
“Grumpy” turned out to be a notably nice menthol pine (not as loud menthol as the above but quite quite well balanced, (#2 fav)).
Notes on the Crippy crosses:
The combination of strength, quick flowering time and size makes me think there should be commercial interest in these crosses.
The only weaknesses are the current seed production and germination issues but I think that would improve with working the line a bit.
All in all, I don’t see these issues as serious impediments.
I’d say job well done @OriginalDankmaster96 !!

Cheers
