I know ive probably already said it to you but im gonna say it again Thank You :blush: I am not a perosn who asks for help and i mean never. With the way my back has been lately i cant afford to smoke dispensary crap because the quality isnt on par with normal bud so i buy more and i cant do it. It doesnt help my pocket or my back much so i came here in search of some guidance on how to get started again and maybe a little help. What i got was an overflow of knowledge and people willing to take the time to talk with me about issues and listen to my story. I got people to help me get this journey going again strong after a few years :blush: So i just wanted to really say thank you i was expecting maybe a few packs or seeds to help me out and this community has helped me get a nice assortment going :grinning:. The last letter i received kind of caught me off guard i stood there for awhile thinking maybe i got it on accident/ almost crapped my pants/ and just had no words smh i dont ask for help much if at all and as such i didnt expect much out of respect so i was totally dumbdounded :heart: Im a man blah blah blah you can make fun of me if you want i probably would too :blush: But im sitting here tearing up writing this cause it means alot

If you sent me something i truly appreciate it and know it will be used well. Ive already spoken to 2 people who saw items on the post i just made of packs they were looking for. Gonna send off today or Friday and told them if they wanna send something back sweet cause they offered otherwise dont worry about it :blush: So i will do what i can to give back just like you helped me…I make mistakes sometimes like everyone else but i never forget who helped me along the way :blue_heart::blue_heart::blue_heart: Love You Growmies

To the man that sent the last letter and you know who you are i truly appreciate tour generosity. I been stuck in a bad place for a long time besides my absolutely precious daughter nothing makes me smile and today i may have found a good chunk more decency left in this world. I may not ask for help any more than i do now lol but i definetely am glad to know theres still good people out there like everyone here. Not everyone agrees with thc use and growth but in my 33 years being on this earth ive only found a few bad eggs out of stoners. Other groups and walks of people i definetely cant say the same haha :upside_down_face: We are a comeback breed and we will overgrow this place one day and the world will see the true happiness again

wtf is “normal bud”?

I’ve been stuck buying dispo weed for the past 8 years. Have not had a good high off of it in all that time. I’ve sampled way over 200 phenos and NOTHING stands out, other than the amount of damn money i spent on that worthless, mid-high, harsh shit. While i appreciate growers, not everybody is a grower, so that lets me out. :frowning:

Yeah, i knew wot u meant by normal bud. I started smoking this shit in 1967, so i know what “normal” is. Dispo is all hybridized so that any element in it that had any kind of psychoactive or euphoria (aka, a “high”) has been bred out in favor of pretty nugs, smelly nugs, harsh tokes and mid-high. Our old standby in the 70s was Mexican Dirt Weed, is wot we called it. Now they tend to call it brick weed. It was cheap, always available and pretty much everybody’s (and i mean everybody) go-to smoke. Ain’t had dispo yet that was half as good as that dirt weed. And then plus that, there was the good stuff. Heh.

At your “40% thc” comment, yeah that was funny. They do, they’re constantly trying to get the highest thc content rating they can. And i’m not sure, considering the entourage effect theory, that thc content is all that important, and may be a negative quality in many instances.

I am saying the same thing. And again, i go to dispo and buy small quantities to sample many different varieties. NOTHING STANDS OUT! WTF would I like? Jeeze. When it was legalized, i thot, “yay, finally i can get high again!” In a hog’s eye i got high again. U’d think one out of ten buys would be some memorable smoke. NADA! Fuck i’m pissed off!

I been thinking at my age, yeah i fried my cannabinoid receptors. But comparing with you at age 33 and me at age 76, our fucking receptors are just fine. It’s the shitty fucking weed they’re foisting on us to make a fucking dollah. I quit in 1991, cold not a hit until 2017, when i thot yippee, legal weed finally. BAH! :frowning:

I’ve been in OG close to 3 yrs now, and other grow boards, reading, learning, and i really can appreciate wot growers do. I just wish i’d see more landrace and heirlooms and less hybridization.

I definitely dont like the dispensary stuff either and by normal bud i mean homegrown crafted and catered to with love and cut at the right time. Not stuff thats cut too soon and they slap a label on that says 40% thca

From what i understand blah blah blah thca is grown differently and regulated more okay i get that. What i dont get is how one bud gets me stoney like always has and dispensary bud the same plant doesnt smh :unamused: They say thca conversion is .877 so 35% thca is roughly 30% thc yet doesnt even compare remotely to a nice bag of bud youd get off the street which prolly aint close to 30% :thinking: Maybe i fried my receptors or something or maybe im nuts but i know plenty of people who agree says dispo stuff is way hit or miss and most has the same exact taste :person_shrugging:

I got a couple buds off a buddy near me who grows a few plants lol I was more stoney than ive been in 8 months :joy::rofl::sweat_smile:

Yeah its fucking ridiculous :roll_eyes: Charge an arm n a leg for some garbage and do the same to let us grow our own PLANTS. Its ass backwards by a landslide lol :laughing: Im happy with whatever they put off as it is my own grown stuff you know ill get better as i grow more. I dont really like the hybrids either dont get me wrong i like trying all the different stuff and excited to see some grow but the landrace and preservation strains im very much excited about. Crossing stuff is decent but qe have to find the old og startinf strains all over again and stock them then run more cross or maybe im wrong thats just me we all have our own opinions :blush::grin:

Im actually in the process of making space for a greenhouse so i can run more. I got the frame for a carport 12×20 gonna use 6mil 4yr uv greenhouse sheet for cover make a door and vent n stuff. Stick my 4x8 tent in there and crank some babies out just looking for someone to help me set up the plastic. Its like $115 so dont wanna mess it up when i cut the door and vents and fan holes

Might have to run a heater or solar panel to run a heater but hoping i can run through winter well see if mother nature has other plans :thinking:

In South Mississippi we called it “Reggie” and that’s the seed I started out growing and when I realized a thing about genetics and started me trying to figure out why and then lead me to Landraces and why a 12% hits way harder than any 40% on the market :grin:

sure, opinions are like assholes, everybody’s got one. But i say they’re just overdoing the hybridization way too much, and that’s what is weakening the strains that you and i both agree were better 20 years ago. Altho if you’re 33, you were 13 back then and…well, i never had a toke until i was 18. I often wondered what those kinda psychoactive drugs would do to a younger mind. They say Dr. Grinspoon cannabis is a cross of i think it was Afghan and Thai stick. So that’s probably one of the best varietals available, altho i wouldn’t know, having never even seen it IRL. But my biggest bitch about crosses/hybrids is, if it works, don’t fix it. duh?

I don’t recall reading how long you’ve been a grower, or how old your current crop is. A bit of info on that would be interesting to me. :slight_smile:

@3bombedmice :face_with_monocle: I concur and it’s this line of thought that brought me to the inevitable conclusion of trashing those old breeding projects sure preserve the great ones but get off a sinking ship , I feel it’s time to start over and have adjusted accordingly :wink: PS 4 years into it now 6 really if you count the years of research (r and d)

I havent been growing long i did 2 outdoor photo runs a few years back and just getting started again right now running 7 autos and 1 photos. The autos are about 20 days into flower 59 days old and one idk because it got snapped outside and still hasnt started flowering but popped at the same time. The photo is about 70 days into veg im gonna flip it here before next week
