The Apothecarium - Outdoors / Organic / Medical

Hey Til, since you understand the walipini, (I love them) you may find interest in this YouTube, for information gathering, really.
I’m very close to a huge Amish community.
They are very intelligent about crafting, without electricity, and their green houses are brilliant.

If you paint your buckets, you may want to consider using a camper/trailer roof paint, as it deflects heat.

great minds…

i have actually researched the amish greenhouses. they have some really cool ideas about passive heating/cooling inside the greenhouse. i love how they frame stuff. all old school chiseled joints. stuff looks amazing / sturdy.
REAL carpentry.

roof paint. good idea. thanks.

Real talk. The Dutch don’t mess around when it comes to building or gardening. Great source of information.

The price of lumber on the other hand… Yikes, boys. :grimacing:

this is why i represent the scrapwood clan and my stuff looks like frankenstein sh^t until i paint it. lol.
prices for lumber are still trying to ride the covid price jack…(such horsesh^t) the “supply chain” issues are long gone fellas…

i dunno about you, but i find myself watching build videos on youtube. done with work hit the bong and click on a build video. all sorts of different techniques out there. the old school carpentry always catches my eye.

Outdoor 2025 - Update

mold. mold on bubba. mold on NL#2. bubba is completely f^cked. NL#2 i believe is salvageable. i have already lopped off a bunch of top colas from both plants, but it is far worse and spread on bubba. total bummer. abuela’s stash ran out well over a year ago. this one was needed. i don’t know how much is still salvageable. i will know better this week when i have time. in the meantime my old friends the spidermites have returned with the sun and hot weather.
joy
i will be spraying tonight. f^ck bugs. the mold i have to accept. insects i do not. they shall feel my wrath this evening.

on to the photogs

found these shed husks on the gelato plant.

stuff is a bit droopy. late afternoon water. back was f^cked up this morning. didn’t want to move.

lots of nice young colas appearing on the rails to the left

red skunk auto lookin’ pretty and gettin real close. was not nearly as skunky as i was worried about. smells like weed. good weed.

red skunk bud pron

look at all these young colas. i need to get in here this week and trim off the larf and get them top dressed and maybe put some stakes in now before too late in flower.

freaking mold. bubba is totally porked. :frowning:

the mold is on EVERY cola branch. uppers and lowers.

looks healthy on outside but each branch’s central stem is covered with the rot. F^CK.

even the lowers are covered in the rot.

Sorry to see man. Shit is heartbreaking when it takes over. Hope you save the rest of NL2, that’s some great smoke.

NL#2 is in better shape i think. can salvage more of that one.
i dunno about bubba. even the lowers have the rot.

i needed that stash for abuela. contemplating taking some cuts from the spots it re-vegged for 2 weeks before flipping itself back to flower. they are strong and healthy (good root system).

contemplating…

That really sucks!

I get lower back pain (muscle not nerve) and laying down on a cold pack for 20 min a few times a day helps reduce my pain.
Along w taking ibuprofen ? or another anti-inflamation pill.

I gotta sample the AC GDP and others i have curing. See what strain helps muscle pain best.

And i am very sorry to read about all the bud rot!

Thanks for that knowledge ! Something to grow bye !

Outdoor 2025 - Update

got in there and did some much needed defoliation and larf removal.
bubba got stripped. pulled off almost all the old dense colas full of botrytis and left the branches that had new growth on them. what a major disappointment.
looks like i have to do the same with NL#2. :frowning:
thankfully, gelato has escaped the botrytis as has OG Kush. however, the entire garden is under assault by insects. i have been at war for the last 2 weeks. pockets of resistance remain. they shall fall like the rest. i have been rotating the spray between spinosad, BT and pyrethrin. every 3 days for the last 10. they are due for another shot tomorrow night. will keep up this every 3 day spray pace until end of aug. after that will have to do water and cirtic acid. don’t want the other stuff sticking around on the flower close(er) to harvest (despite the fact i wash everything before drying)

mold and bugs aside, today is chop day for red skunk auto. turned out quite nice. it is stinky, but not as bad as i thought it would be. perhaps when it’s drying it’ll make the house reek? we shall see.

onto the photogs

defoliated most this week

some real nice colas developing on the rails

OG Kush still out of control

bubba stripped down

botrytis on NL#2 now. gotta strip this one also… f^cking bummer

OG Kush… pushing the ceiling again.

GG4 super healthy

Chop day for red skunk

some real nice colas forming

Hey @Ibegeekdup - here is the godfather pheno i have been running for the last 2yrs. it responded better to spartexas sun (part of why i selected it). it is also the mom that was crossed with GDX. so yeah, play with your light. increase in slow increments. a little bit per day. see how it responds.

Now let’s take a closer look at red skunk. nice structure. interesting colas. most of them crush the CANparison test. foxtails on foxtails in tight formations. pretty

i bet it is going to be stanky and greasy in the wash.

Outdoor 2025 - Update

not much change. hot weather, strong sun. watering 2x per day. Dogs knocked some of the rail plants over chasing rats that ate my potato experiment so i had some broken branches i needed to lop off and some dog a$$es to kick. (hey @Golfnutt - you wanna lend me your bobcat? he will eat well in this neighborhood with all the rabbits and rats AND there is a running water source (stone creek) close by.)

Other than that, OG Kush is still being a pain in the balls and pushing the roof up despite being topped x100.

despite being knocked over by the dogs, the rail plants are doing really nice and have some lovely colas forming. kinda bummed with the insect damage, but their asses are pretty much kicked. two plants left with some pockets of resistance. i will defoliate again and continue to spray til end of aug. after that hose water and citric acid if any bugs remain. i doubt it. i f^cked them up good these last 2 weeks.

last, i think i’m going to lop off the top colas on gelato. there was a lot of leaf browning after the last spray with the antifungal. i can’t really see up in there as they are taller than me, but just going to assume the worst. considering what i saw with bubba and NL#2. those tops have been maturing for a VERY long time. pulling the flowers down and back to look inside shows pistils changed color like they are harvest ready. will contemplate this and see how much time i have to mess with it this coming week.

anyways… on to the photogs.

The rail plants getting some impressive colas. i need to get some trellis in there. i can see them getting bent over heavy at the end.

Bubba kinda bouncing back…

NL#2 kinda bouncing back

OG Kush being defiant and pushing the roof up AGAIN.

Outdoor 2025 - Update

had some rain. going to have some more today. weather is cooling off a little bit.

Did a bit of work, got some trellis put in for the rail plants. too many large colas fixin to break branches. had to do something. been raining and weighing them down.

Rail plants are kicking ass and flowering hard. godfather og is stealing the show this year with some CANparison crushing colas.

NL#2 decided to go full botrytis and needs to have more hacked off. the colas are SUPER dense. they just trap any water inside the colas and start to rot despite the hot and dry climate. all it takes is a rain storm or two. not sure how much if any i will be able to salvage from NL#2. disappointing.

Bubba on the other hand responded well to having all the lowers stripped. it’s flowering nice now and getting frosty again.

been a weird and difficult outdoor season. combination of weird weather and 80% of the seed i tried to start were duds (seed shelf life is real people… pop those seeds. don’t sit on them) those first 4 plants i got started at the beginning of season flowering prematurely and had nothing but hard times since. :\
my hopes remain in bubba and OG Kush producing something decent from the first 4. unsure how gelato will roll and unknown if i will have to scrap NL#2 at this point. more rain coming… and the antifungal clearly isnt working that deep… it’s already rotten.

I also had to strip a lot of lowers off gelato. i was able to harvest a bit of the stuff i had to cut off. it’s been drying. probably crispy by now. i haven’t had time (or inclination) to trim. life is very busy.

Fuel D.OG is starting to shape up nicely. good colas and frost forming.

on to the photogs…

trellis up on the rails

trellis helping to keep up some big colas

Godfather CANparison
@Ibegeekdup

There are SEVERAL of these CANparison crushers…

Oh NL#2… why? … why?

The rot is spreading on NL#2. not sure if i can salvage. it need to stop raining / dry out so i can see the extent of damage.

Bubba making a NICE comeback … gimmie something to work with please.
