The Autopot thread

I have 10 -3.9 gal pots, 4 have the airbases 6 I go with the clay balls. I get better root growth with the clay balls but I don’t see a lot of growth difference in my plants. I prefer the clay balls but they are a pain to clean up after a grow to recycle and reuse

Beautiful plants, the tops seem to be in a mad race to see who reaches the light first

I’m in my first indoor cultivation, I had only done guerrilla with pressed seeds, first time with autopots, with coconut and salts lol, oh and with automatics too, I’m having a lot of work with the snags that have been appearing but it seems that I’m managing to solve them little by little, I’m liking the result of them even though I made so many mistakes along the way, and I hope to get plants similar to yours.

I’ve been growing indoors 30+ years, with autopots about 4-5. I can’t see me going back now. I’ve had some nice grows while using them. I use a Promix style soil 60/40 perlite + a few additives Using a full line of General Hydroponics 3 part + 3-4 more

Are you using the airdomes?

I opted for the smaller (2.2) gallon pots to try and successfully grow more strains per run in my 5x5. 6 plants fill my 5x5 up nicely, but i feel like the 2.2 gal pots dont give enough of a buffer zone in the media to dry out. My media is literally saturated. Im doing one more run in these sized pots. Ive mixed together a much more aerated soil mix this round. I add 50% perlite to 50% coco loco, which already has perlite, so im probably sitting close to 70/30 perlite/ coco loco. Im also adding a 2" layer of straight perlite on top of my airbase. Im going to do a longer veg and only hand water until plants are fully mature and roots are healthy and well established. If none of this works ill be opting for bigger pots.

Yes, Home made using 4" net pots with the rim cut off. or a 6" fan grill Or ??? I found this one too small but it worked, just not as well

I’m trying split pots because I don’t think in a tent that we can fully take advantage of the 3.9 gal pots. We get such good growth once my plants start to feed from the trays I don’t think we need 3.9 gal soil mix. This is my 3rd run in split pots. I have 1 small plant out of 8 and I don’t think its the pot size that kept it short & smaller

I always just soaked, roasted in the oven, and then reused. They were the easiest medium to reuse.

Ya, I haven’t done that I soak and strain out the dirt and debris but it takes 3-4 washes to get them clean enough. I think I’ll be buying another 12.5kg bag, last me a long time as I lose a few every wash. I never reuse my soil, out to the garden it goes. 1-3.2 cu/ft compressed bales will last me a year when mixed with perlite& worm castings

T2G ftw. Zero fuss clone nursery

Clones don’t work for me. They get too big while waiting for space to put them into flower. I can have a cleaner perpetual grow using seeds. If I start seeds 4-5 weeks before harvest I have fresh new girls ready to flip after I harvest. I’d cut clones off mom, flip mom and raise the kids. When mom was flowered I had 2 Month old clones ready to flip but they all got so big I was crowded out of space in my veg tent and my 5x5 flower tent with plants too big to manage properly…for me any ways

Yea i see your point.
The nice thing about cuttings is you can make a bunch. I give them away to local growmies.

Tray2grow like a magnet for roots. Haven’t had anything go much more than 8-10 days

I bet those 4" rockwool cubes would work well on a T2G.

I did this and yes it does work. The only problem I found, was that the roots basically RAISE the block off the base. So there is no longer wicking taking place, the roots that touch are the only way it’s getting nutrients.

I ended up putting that block in a 3.9gal autopot pot with a wicking base insert and filled the bottom inch of that with coco so the roots could have a place to go, and the pot kept the plant from tipping all the way over.

Tipping over is a real problem when they get big, so a net or something is a good idea.

That is happening to me outdoors with the 8L pot had to prune roots couple of times to avoid this, just curious if you have the root control matrix on yours?

Broke the tray2grow back out after having cleaned 4 autopots with tray splitters. Such a pain to clean all of them compared to the t2g.
