I recently infused some MCT oil with my decarbed ice water hash from last season. This is the way I’m going to make tinctures and edibles from now on! It creates such a better product than using flower in my opinion… looks, tastes and smells so much cleaner. All terps & great colour.

I used an immersion circulator to hold a water bath to 185F and submerged the oil and hash in a mason jar for 6 hrs, stirring the oil every few hrs. Not sure if that’s necessary but it made me feel better about it lol.

The hash was made from a combination of 4 cultivars I grew last summer, including about 10-15% CBD. It’s a really mellow hash that makes me feel absolutely amazing when I smoke it. I believe it’s because it has a wide variety of Cannabinoids. I’d love to get it tested if I wasn’t so cheap

Made some edibles the east way using the Zen Zinger mix. You really need to simmer that stuff quite low. Turned out pretty well! Can’t wait to try them this wknd with some friends.

Flowers are really starting to bust out on the outdoor plants! I’ll get some more pics tmrw morning.

What percent hash to oil did you go? Sounds tasty might give that a try. Edibles look excellent.

Well, it’s slightly a crap shoot tbh bc I haven’t had the product lab tested but I put 1.5g into 80ml of oil. Concentrates generally have a potency of 70-80% THC so this is how I calculated after looking it up online.

Amount of concentrate in grams x potency x 1000 :heavy_division_sign: amount of oil in ml

1.5 x .80 x 1000 :heavy_division_sign: 80 = gives me an approximate potency of 15mg/ml (give or take)

I added 2 tsp or 10ml of oil to my gummy’s and made 15, so that would make them roughly…

15mg x 10ml = 150 :heavy_division_sign: 15 = 15mg of THC per gummy

I hope I did my math right, going to eat a quarter gummy and see what happens :joy:

Okay thanks I was thinking like a ounce of hash to a couple cups of oil might be way over kill . Lol

Ya that might be a slight over kill haha but some ppl like strong edibles! Whatever blows your hair back

Here’s a pic of Mendo P x Zkittles… it might be hard to tell but she’s throwing the earliest frost compared to the others.

The math checks out. Ice water hash is probably closer to 60% IME. To get to that 80% requires further refinement, such as pressing it into rosin or extracting it with a solvent.

Without testing, we can just estimate though.

How did the edibles go? Sure look tasty.

Ya makes sense, I just read a few sources online which said 80% so I took it with a grain of salt.

They were excellent! A lot more mellow than I hoped for which probably goes back to what Reiko said above. Either way they were good but I was expecting more of a punch… at least I can dial them in when I make them next!

So, an update on the plants! I took some nice shots in the morning sun today. All looking really good and healthy!

Mendo P x Zkittles is the fastest flowering and most developed, should be an early finisher compared to the rest.

Three Queens coming out of the gate nicely as well, she’s got a certain funk to her that I can’t place… she’s gonna stink for sure.

CBD 1 is a thin plant! Wylie almost…

Orange Sherbert coming along nicely, smells like actual Sherbert for real.

Orange Gasm, smelling like lemons at this point to me!

Starting to get fun around here… loving the stick fingers.

This Mendo P x Z is absolutely nuts. Smells EXACTLY like lime skittles, just intense! Definitely a Z leaner… I’ll be interested to see if Mendo P will lend to the colour at all in the end. She’s 10-14 days out I think, if that.

You’re not going to believe this shit…

Last night my neighbour casually mentions that they have a “magic plant” growing in their backyard… “No way” I say. They don’t know Jack about cannabis, so I ask them to show me and they oblige.

The magic plant :expressionless:

I almost tossed my cookies… they’re just letting this male grow and spread pollen throughout the community. They had zero idea about males and pollen, etc. I tried very much to hold it together and not panic and simply said that this is a male and you won’t get any “fun” buds on it, just pollen.

Funny thing is, this is exactly where my water hash runoff has been known to seep! So basically, it’s my own fault but isn’t that amazing?! Life finds a way. It grew between the fence with nothing but rain water. Unreal…

Considering this male is growing 25 feet from where my plants are on the roof, I can safely assume I’m going to have a seeded crop this year :grinning: :+1:

I guess it comes with the territory.

That is both amazing and nauseating at the same time. Did they let you chop it?

Absolutely… I carefully placed a large garbage over it and chopped!

Back to the plants on the roof!

The Three Queens (Wi-Fi 43 x Bubba) from CSI is crazy. Not a huge plant but each branch contains massive colas, the pics don’t do them justice. Terps are indescribable… I’m just waiting for it to develop a bit more before I fully comment.

The Orange Sherbert is a gorgeous plant with super frosty dank buds that glisten in the sunlight. Waiting for this one to just fill out at the end… hopefully. Smells like intoxicating orange sherbert for real.

CBD 1 from ACE Seeds is shaping up into something nice. Smells a bit similar to Orange Sherb but slightly muted with more earthy tones.

Orange Gasm is straight orange drink powder mix but I believe she has some sativa genetics inside her bc she’s taking her time to develop. I’m a bit nervous about this one finishing on time but if the awesome fall weather we’ve been having continues then I should be ok.

Lastly we have Mendo Purps x Zkittles. As mentioned in a previous post, she’s all lime skittles! Intense intense intense… shocking actually. Terps are so loud! I’m loving this plant.

Here’s a Mango Sunrise from Night Owl Seeds (Mango Smile x Cosmic Queen F4) that I randomly decided to grow. A nieghbour asked me for something sativa-ish so I popped him a seed and figured I’d try to grow one out as well. It was a very late seed pop too! Like, first week of August… I’m very reluctant that she’ll finish on time but we’ll see. If I have to drag her in my 2x2 in November, it’s not the end of the world. After reading the description I just had to try it. Mango haze sounds delightful.

Smelling DANK on the roof top these days. Everyone is complaining of skunks :joy: I find it so hilarious that people associate the smell of ripe plants with that… it kills me for some reason.

Anyway, some of these plants are really almost ready for the chop soon. Got my dry room all sorted out and ready. I’m thinking of bud washing this year with all those fires and smoke this summer. The weather here has been absolutely STELLAR! Like insanely good so these plants are finishing strong. I’ve been waiting for things to cool down so my dry room wouldn’t be so hot and it looks like I’ll get my wish after tmrw with temps dropping from feeling like 30C to 15C… nice and cool for these terps!

Here’s Mendo Purps x Zkittles… absolutely raging with colours and STRONG, beautiful smells. Still throwing intense lime candy smells, very very nice stuff!

I snipped off a callax or two and got them under the scope. I always freak out this time of year, especially if I start seeing amber but you can see here there’s still plenty of clear, mostly cloudy with some amber. In truth I’ll give her two more days and she’ll get the chop this Friday.

Let’s talk about CSI’s Three Queens… ohhhh brother this plant is gorgeous and I am super excited to sample this one!! Lemon, lime, dank basement, funk yet sweet and floral. She’s got it all. Buds are ROCK HARD boulders!! They’re ginormous. You can see some shots with my hand around the cola, it’s like a full fist size. I have spotted a few areas where PM has started and it’s making me really nervous. The good news is that the pistils are starting to die off rapidly with each day and I think she’ll be done within 10-14 days. I’m going to have to keep my eye closely peeled on this one. It PM starts proliferating I’ll chop her a bit early I think. I just want her to finish strong because I’ve never seen nugs like this in my life!

The Orange Sherbert from Barney’s is a nice plant also, nothing insane but she’s giving off nice smells of citrus, candy and sour. Bud structure is long but not overly thick and she’s also very frosty with lots of crystals! I think this will be good generic smoke but we’ll see. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.

CBD 1 from ACE Seeds is also finishing up rapidly. I think she’ll be the first round of harvest with the Orange Sherb and Mendo P x Z plants.

Orange Gasm from Irie Genetics is sauntering along. I feel like her sativa genetics are slowing her down but she’s fattening up nicely with great orange drink mix smells. Very leafy tho so I’m not looking forward to the trim job on this one. Either way I have faith she’ll finish strong!

That’s it for now! Busy but exciting times ahead!!!

It has been a busy but exciting few weeks! I’ve watched these plants finish up nicely with the exceptional fall weather we’ve been having. I used to like autumn a lot but growing my own cannabis brings it to a whole new level. As I climb up the ladder to greet the plants every morning I am welcomed with the sweet aroma of blossoming plants filling the air. It’s been a sensory overload and I’m loving every minute of it as it does wonders for my mood and mental wellbeing.

The first to come down were the Mendo Purps x Zkittlez and the Orange Sherbert.

The Mendo Zkittlez transformed into a beautiful plant when those Mendo Purple genes started kicking in at the end and imparting some nice colour to the mix. The smells is delicious lime skittles candy with a certain bit of sharp funk in the background.

Just look at this beauty!

The Orange Sherbert from Barney’s Farm finished up nicely as well. Long ass colas with bitter orange peel terps mixed with something smooth that rounds it out… almost creamy.

CBD 1, Three Queens and Orange Gasm would need awhile longer. I planned it like this at the start by selecting different genetics with varying predicted finish times because it’s nice to stagger harvests. It’s less stress in my life and doesn’t crowd my dry & cure space. I was able to remove my exhaust cover from the window to allow for some fresh cool air to enter the space. I really lucked out with the weather this year as I harvested my first set of plants on a day that the weather dipped down to 15C from 24C. This was a huge advantage and I was able to hold the dry room at a pretty steady 60F/15C with roughly 60% RH since the weather pretty much just stayed constant from this moment onward.

In all honesty, I don’t know why I didn’t think of opening the window before but this was the first year where the weather was just perfect and the timing could not have been more ideal.

I’ll post more shots of the processed buds at another time but I can say that this is my BEST year for drying… the buds came out exceptional! More on that later…

Here’s Three Queens with about 5-7 days left in her. You can see in the first pic this is the first sign of her fading as her large fans began to lime out. She had stayed a dark, deep green up until about Oct 7th or so and I knew that she was on the home stretch.

This is the time when I started noticing PM spots on her as well as at least one area with bud rot! Ahhhh…

it took everything not to harvest at that moment but I had faith she would pull through. With daily monitoring, I could see that the PM & rot was not proliferating rapidly, therefore I knew I could let her come to full maturity. I was also very careful not to jostle or disturb the plant so that the mold spores could spread. When it came to the bud rot, I very carefully cut the bud off the plant to remove the infected area.

Here are some shots of the main cola with my microscope for size reference.

Here’s the Mango Sunrise auto I threw outside and basically forgot about :joy:

Smelling like straight up mangoes! Can’t wait for this one. I took this one down on Oct 10th, was really surprised she finished so quickly! But trichomes don’t lie and there were a lot amber going on. Hoping I didn’t leave her too long.

Here’s CBD 1 a few days before chop.

Mendo Zkittlez and Orange Sherbert have been trimmed and placed in grove bags, more on that later. They hung for 11 and 12 days respectively. I picked up a moisture meter from Aliexpress and used it to determine when they should be processed.

I pulled the buds with 0.62 water activity (close enough). They’ve been processed and sitting in grove bags for a few days now and honestly the buds look and smell impeccable!!! It only took me 5 yrs but I think I may have finally figure out this dry & cure thing.

Anyway, that’s it for now. Happy harvest to all my outdoor growmies out there!

Very nice grow. Those all look amazing.

Three Queens got the chop on October 12th and has since hung to dry for 12 days. She was a real beaut!

All plants have been dried and processed and the grove bag cure is going well.

The trim job on these plants went pretty smoothly and wasn’t as time consuming as last year. I think a June 1st seed pop and July 1st transfer to outdoor worked out very well this year. Plants stayed manageable and each yielded nicely. I didn’t weigh any of it for the simple fact that it’s more than I could ever consume in a season so the numbers really don’t matter to me but roughly though, I’d say a little over half pound per plant with Mendo P x Zkittlez being the largest yielder.

I separated the small buds into a small fresh frozen clear terploc bag. These bags hold roughly 2lbs and I filled that badboy up nicely. I don’t really care about the lack of head space and proper curing since I’ll be freezing these buds for a hash run. I did let them dry out and cure a bit though since I’m looking for a larger yield.

A game changer for me was this idea I had to pour a bottle of ISO alcohol into a sealable package of unscented baby wipes!

You’ve got to try this! It made clean up an absolute breeze and they always come in handy when you’re around flowering plants. The entire bottle was a bit of an over kill so maybe next time I’d try half a bottle.

I also splurged this year and picked up a pair of Chickamasa shears…

$30 for these. Honestly I’m not sure if they’re worth it. They’re great, don’t get me wrong but I was expecting to be blown away. I’ve had just as good results with $5 shears. I will say this tho… talk to me in 5 yrs when (hopefully!) these things are still going strong. I guess if you spend $5-$7 a year on cheap shears that after 5 years these things start to make sense.

Anyway, back to the buds.

First to trim was the Mendo Purple x Zkittlez which is an absolutely beautiful plant. Not to be confused with CSI’s Little Red Riding Hood strain which has the parents switched where the Mendo Purps is the pollen donor in that cross. The smells on these buds are just dripping with rich lime skittles candy, lemon/lime & grapefruit zest terps which I’m guessing is from the Zkittlez. The trichome coverage was excellent, covering a lot of the outer fans making it a hard choice not to shave it too close. You’ll notice that from the shots below that I left a lot of them on, the beautiful purple colouration helps the bag appeal on these nicely. Smoking a joint of this lip smacking weed is a pleasurable experience, holds the flavour down to the roach providing a nice stoney buzz… more on that later.

The Orange Sherbert from Barney’s Farm was next, buds are super long and skinny but she throws down on the frost! Between this one and the Mendo Zkittlez were the most intoxicating during trim. Terps were super loud giving me a bit of a headache and slight euphoria. The terps on the Organge Sherb are like sweet orange juice with this unique liquorice/anise thing on the back end. I would say it’s more like a sweet black liquorice thing… combined with the orange juice smells it’s quite nice.

Three Queens from CSI was up next and sadly to say, I lost at least a few ounces due to bud rot. These colas were just too fat!! It was heartbreaking to discover that the mold had proliferated during the drying phase even though I had washed these buds with a hydrogen peroxide mix and air dried them before putting them in the dry room. No other issues with any other plant, just this one.

I almost cried when I found the main cola with mold all up inside. Such a beautiful specimen at chop… flushed down the toilet :sob: :sob: :sob:

From what I was able to salvage I was quite impressed. Giant fat buds that have this hashy, lime drink powder thing going on… Like lime gatorade mix or something. Delicious tbh! Check out these nugs!!

Orange Gasm from Irie Genetics was the last to come down on October 16th. This girl is a strong contender for toughest plant. She held up to a lot of cold and rain in the last wk without batting an eye. Not a spot of PM or bud rot to be found. She was the slowest to mature and I just had to let her finish.

Here she is at chop.

Nothing crazy to look at but she developed nicely. She’s got these intense orange peel terps but nothing overly intoxicating. Buds are super long and a bit chunkier than the Orange Sherbert. I like the orange hairs… buds look appealing to me!

I’ll do my best to post some smoke reports asap. So far I’ve sampled the Mendo Zkittlez and Three Queens. Both are nice in their own regard for sure. I’ll go into more details later for sure.

CBD 1 from Ace Seeds also came down shortly after Three Queens around the 14th of December. For some reason I didn’t take any pics of the buds but they turned out nicely. I’ll look forward to making some good meds with that.

A few key takeaways from my outdoor grow this season:

  • June 1st seed pop and July 1st transplant to outside worked very nicely for me compared to last year where the plants grew too large and were hammered by the wind and elements near the end of the season
  • Incorporating the JADAM technique of cultivating indigenous micro organisms weekly called JMS (JADAM microbial solution) was successful and will be carried forward for soil drench and foliar next season
  • I did not incorporate any topping or HST techniques into my grow this year, I believe that was a bit of a missed opportunity
  • Selecting genetics with varying finish times was very beneficial for me personally, allowing me to stagger harvest and processing times
  • The half pound terploc bag cures for my outdoor plants will be my go to in the future because so far it’s going well
  • I believe I came very close to providing optimal nutrition for the plants this season, seeing less deficiencies than last year. I believe I doubled the amount of craft blend at topping events in the summer
  • Barely any pests were observed on my larger photoperiod plants, I’m not sure if this had to do with the JADAM microbial solution (JMS) or what but these plants were pretty clean!
  • a weekly foliar spray of TM7, aloe and Zumsil (monosilicic acid) worked out well in veg. Silica is a crazy important mineral when growing plants in general but definitely for outdoors because it strengthens cell walls, making the plants more resilient to the elements and pests. Not only that it helps with nutrient uptake in general and I’ve noticed a huge difference when I used it compared to when I didn’t! This foliar is just another way to introduce it to the plants but I also used it in a soil drench once a week as well
  • Front loading the plants with extra calcium beginning in mid July was also very beneficial. I did this by making WCA, a water soluble calcium solution using brown rice vinegar and baked eggshells and also watering in plenty of water soluble gypsum and wollastonite rock dust. These were also heavily top dressed along with oyster shell flour.
  • SST! sprouted seed teas for enzymes… get into it!
  • my homemade insect frass and alfalfa ferments were also key in the grow and I think everyone reading this should attempt making their own nutrients and JMS by collecting microbes using the potato and leaf mold soil method! This is the easiest, cheapest and best way to add microbes to your soil that will improve nutrient uptake and help bolster the plant’s immune system to fight off pests and diseases! Stop spending hundreds of dollars on bottled microbes, all you need are potatoes, sea salt and top soil from a local forest. This shit works!
  • After harvest last season I top dressed my soil with a bunch of rock dusts and believe this was very beneficial for the plants this season. I added equal parts wollastonite, sulfate of potash, gypsum, basalt, azomite, bentonite clay and soft rock phosphate together, mixed them and added a 1-2 cups to each pot. Before the snow comes in a few weeks, I’ll do this again, remove any remaining cover crop and cover the pots with hay and leaves to leave them for the winter

I’ll be back with some smoke reports on these strains and I need to start my indoor stuff. I might pop some crosses I made last summer!

Hope everyone’s harvest went great this year!
