The Canadian Contingent (Part 1)

Excellent links and explanation @Oldtimerunderground
plant count definitely has to be within reason but it’s nice to have wiggle room.

Pretty sure that a pre-requisite for all non-Canadians in this thread is a minimum of 3-seasons of “Letterkenny.”

The way it worked for me was that I told my doctor that I wanted to explore using cannabis to treat some of my medical conditions. She referred me to a dr at a cannabis clinic and I got assigned a dr that was a real stickler. I requested a new doc, stating that I just didn’t feel like my current dr was listening or empathising with my issues. The new dr is amazing… He prescribed 5g/day at first then upped to 7g at my request.

All of this is to say that you need to be firm with your doctor and speak confidently. No gimmicks… ask to be referred to a cannabis doctor and they should oblige your request as long as you state that you believe it will help your medical conditions, whatever they may be. Tell the cannabis doctor you would like to grow your own medicine and they will prescribe you a certain amount per day. That will determine how many plants you’re allowed to grow. You can download the ACMPR application online, its very easy to fill out. OR the cannabis clinic will print it out to you and mail it to you along with the signed medical document. FIll it out and send it to Ottawa… it couldn’t be easier. Just make sure that you tell your doctors what you want… they have to listen to you. All they can do is recommend alternative means to deal with your ailments. If youre not satisfied, tell them. Find a new doctor if your current one won’t listen to you. Ultimately you get to decide on your own health.

Best of luck!

This.

I had a sinus infection. I went to a walk-in. He told me he was going to prescribe a saline rinse. I told him I didn’t come here for a saline rinse I can do that on my own. I have an infection and I want antibiotics.

I got my antibiotics but I had to be really firm about it.

the government gives us plant counts to protect their. monopoly on the cannabis industry, they should just charge way way less take the money out of the black market, full legislation and be done with it, vs trying to control stock to keep prices inflated, it should cost a few dollars a pound like any other crop

Isn’t it insane? I think when I did mine they said the maximum for the ACMPR was 483 plants or something just absurd. 25 definitely isn’t the minimum either.

The good news is, once you’ve got your ACMPR the plant count really doesn’t matter at all.

It was the lowest I could get through the place that gave me my prescription.

I am in the process of moving into my gfs home. She owns the house, but its a oart of a condo board type thing and has specific rules prohibiting the growing of cannabis.

Obviously i will still grow, but wondering if having a prescription and the go ahead to grow my own medicine would allow me to bypass that rule? I have a prescription and can get the paper work filed to grow pretty easily.

My thoughts are they cant stop me from growing medicine, whereas they may be able to stop me from growing the 4 plant per household rule.

No, it won’t help. They can stop you from growing for whatever reason as your GF accepted those conditions when moving in. Getting a grow license will not circumvent the rules agreed upon.

Seconding Doug’s opinion. Your GF agreed to those terms (not growing cannabis) when she bought the place, and I don’t think there would be a way around that.

If it’s worth it to you, you could always get in touch with a lawyer for their opinion, I just don’t think it’s going to get you anywhere unfortunately.

Well the secrecy does make it funner to do. So secret gardens it is

My doctor was very hesitant to prescribe me anything, so I went the pay for play route for my ACMPR, and it was really streamlined and although morally I object to profiteering off of medical users, it was a drop in the bucket compared to what I was paying for flower annually. The ACMPR has been helpful for me to grow outdoors too, as it allows me to work around the rules in the municipality that prohibit anyone from growing outdoors if they are on city water.

“But the pH is perfect guys!”

plant count is so irrelevant to yield I don’t know why they even bother trying to regulate it that way.

If you want the easiest solution I found,

Licencetogrow.ca

I got my medical grow license through this service and have referred other OG’ers who have used it.

One email, one phone call with their doctor and I had my prescription. They even email a link to the government forms and to a video walkthrough on filling them out properly.

It cost me $140 or so and IMO was worth every penny.

Thats what I used! It was quick and painless, so much so, my geriatric mother was able to get hers through them with ease.

I agree :100: with @Yetigrows , I used them after his reccomendation and they were super easy

I only want to grow like 14 plants medically, so I don’t think I’ll be putting up any :triangular_flag_on_post:red flags. :grimacing:

Perhaps I will just go the licensetogrow.ca route, thanks for that link @Yetigrows :+1:t2:
