I dont doubt that you could be right. My info on that one is from Gage Green Genetics, who called it the original wacky weed. ( llanera) i got his Colombian Black Bastards, thinking it was a landrace. Sucks it isn’t.
@Instg8ter fingers crossed for some ladies! Nice line up!
I hope I didn’t come off the wrong way, I wasn’t trying to correct anyone or anything, I was just making a point of saying I believe the Chocolate Colombian is different from the Black. Personally, I think you might be on to something with the theory of there being Thai in there somewhere… Either a Chocolate or Purple Thai crossed to a Colombian gold or maybe Punto Rojo might make dark Chocolate colored buds… I think it would be worth trying of anyone has both thai and colombian genetics readily available… Just to see what happens.
@SF0…Oh no. I didn’t think anything of it. Must have been an Old Post cuz I don’t remember what I was saying… I’ll have to look… Where was it in the thread? South America is definitely not my strong point as far as knowledge goes. There is much likelihood that I will learn something from you…was I talking about United States pharmaceutical companies?or BOEL?
You have to save it then. Now I understand what you were saying. I never forget a smell either
@Upstate they look outstanding great job
Looking forward to seeing that one!
I don’t think you were talking about pharma… I think you were replying to someone who mentioned Chocolate Colombian, and Choco Chiba was brought up, along with the possibility of BOEL crossing Asian strains with South Americans. It was an older post… towards the top… I’m still pretty new to OG, and just found this thread, and thought I’d chime in on the subject. I’ve been searching for years trying to get that true Wacky Weed… (Also looking for what some old heads I know refer to as “cartoon weed”, which is believed to be a rare Vietnamese, but that’s a whole other thing…)
Thanks for stopping in.
Its OK to correct anything on OG. That’s how we learn. I found that old post. I’d love to find that wacky/cartoon weed myself.
A guy on IG says he had a mushroom type experience on some Peruvian pot, possibly related to Colombian, so maybe something from the border regions would hold those wacky traits
I’ve got to read a book on BOEL. They were all over the place, breeding hybrids. Chocolate taste is quite unique.
That Chocolate Thai thought seems likely. You might be right about that dark weed…dipped in hash oil or opium. On IG a guy was saying Colombian red was just that way from dipping it in Red Lebanese hash oil, and while I think the red varieties are red without dipping, i don’t doubt it was done.
I think you are right. Choco Chiba is probably different from Colombian Black, which has a very dark purple pheno… I’d love to try both😁
We used to get the black tar opium and black hash with the tax stamps on the pallets…, loved the floral taste of the opium a little shmear on the paper of a joint was just enough.
Cartoon weed… yep, thats an actual thing.
The oaxacan are beginning to show sex after 2 weeks of 12/12… and the Panama are coming along nicely. The oaxacan are showing magnesium deficiency, so I guess that black gold soil is not going to cut the mustard. I should have known. I have added some Lobster compost, which is high in calcium and magnesium, and I will be transplanting into a 1-gallon container this week. Looks like five boys and four girls, or possibly even 6 and 3. So, the rough treatment they received in their early life is now showing. So, I suppose if you were looking to get some males out of a highly female line, start them in a window in the winter, and then blast them with neem oil for a week LOL. First pictures are oaxacan, followed by Panama plants, one of which has an interesting Leaf mutation.
tLittle update. The jagged Leaf Panama are the 1974 Panama pheno, the others are BCO Panama… not sure what that stands for. And there is one odd ball with narrower leaves than the others…
Oaxacan males are spilling pollen, which I have been collecting…one female has early resin.
Oaxacan males are in a window in the house , enjoying some sunlight these last couple days.
I think it stands for Breeders Choice Organization.
Looks great in here, oaxacan is on my growing bucket list for sure, can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Which one is your Oaxaca again? Cryptic?
Its Cryptic Labs. From the early 70’s. They look 100% sativa. No signs, that I can tell, of any contamination. I’ll get a full plant shot when they look better lol. That black gold soil isn’t so good. I transplanted into 1 gallon a few days ago. Hope they look better soon. Magnesium deficiency mainly. Panama in same soil originally ( beer cup), but I transplanted them early into 1/2 gallon pots with seafood compost and castings mixed with ocean forest/perlite and they are happy. The soil i planned on using for this grow has mite eggs in the mulch, and i can’t risk using it until i can heat it up ( solarize) and kill the eggs.
@Guitarzan, thanks. Ill see if i can find more info on BCO Panama. Apparently a very colorful Panama line.
Nice I’d be in for a little pollen swap, collecting now on Zach Tribute (reproduction), Chapita De Michoacán , Purple Hair Sensi, and Kona Gold. Plants are all small this first run, I plan on pollinating the small bunch first and growing second out with a bit more veg time.
