The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 2)

I’ll give them more time. I was just trying for some “get up and go” smoke as opposed to the couch lock I’m usually looking for. No the pictures were taken the day before I posted them. They are all about 7 feet tall.

How can you tell when sting of pearls is ready? Are white pistils common when harvesting long flowers?

 that’s my man, thinking smart. I Just harvested a couple of vietnam black plants at week seven ( 6 weeks early) last week and the high is amazing. That led to me snipping an early Oaxaca bud just a couple days ago. I was a little disappointed but I will try it again in another couple weeks when the flowers are a little more mature.
As long as you don’t wait for amber resin, They should have a great uppity high. The only ones that have that deeper high are the twenty weekers. Your plans are so old I have actually No idea at all how long they would have flowered for flipped to 12/12 from seed… But so far the twenty week phenotypes have all had chunky buds, with the pearls finished around week 16.
When I re read my reply to you that I’d made about those plants of yours, in my mind i sounded snotty. Sorry about that if it read the same way to you. I just wanted to make sure that after such a long grow, you harvest these at their peak. I’d sure hate for you to be disappointed. Sorry for sounding preachy if I did😇

It kind of is hard to tell. Harvest when older flowers are going bad quicker than new flowers are getting good if that makes sense.
When the resin turns cloudy, it’s time for me.

Leave a porch light on at night, and there is no telling what will show up. It works really well here (sub tropical), so a tropical region…damn. Just be careful if you ever do. Some of those critters pack quite a punch.

Which trics? The ones on the bracts or the ones on the few pistils popping out? Sucks I can’t get a good pic. The slightest breeze and they are so thin can’t take a clear pic.lol

Oaxacan x red snake should I follow pistils and trics like usual?

She has cannibalized herself pretty well on a few fan leaves left.lol

Oh I’ve had encounters…I got stung by a scorpion …in Colombia…and stung by a ray in Costa Rica when I stepped on one in the sand.
most painful thing I’ve had happen, learned to wear plastic croc type sandals when in the water,or shuffle the sand as you wade out…

Thanks

1 or 2 more weeks. She’s close.
The Oaxaca still has good sized clumps of fresh flowers. Basically first some Pearl’s form. The finale is the clump of Pearls at the tips of each shoot. When these are ripe, pick it. The pearls can be pulled off with tweezers anytime now. They look ripe. Once calyxes swell in size, they are done.
She’s in full flower atm. Several weeks left.

Cool wait you mean the calyx are gonna swell more :exploding_head:.lol. The red snake I kinda figured just by the pistils are browning on the tips even if all the fan leaves fall of it’ll still finish right? There is enough green in sugar leaves for photosynthesis I hope. The pearls have to form actual little buds from pistils before it’s close ok thanks! The Oaxacan clone outside is farther along than it’s mother inside :rofl::rofl: damn light leaks! Indoor Oaxacan has white poof balls all over so should start looking like buds soon and the Peshawar is still throwing more pistils before forming any bud structure. I’ll get these damn wonderful plants to finish flowering one way or another!:rofl::rofl:

Going by the clumps of fresh stigmas I see in your photo, yes. Not all Pearls do this. The best do. Smell like Pine/ cedar? I think I know momma. She’s a good one. Tiny buds, but it doesn’t take much to do the job.

No, what I mean is you can harvest the calyxes that have already swollen for a small taste.
These can flower strangely. In some phenos, A finished calyx often eventually bursts open to reveal a new clump of flowers from inside of it, (Like the second mouth of the Aliens in the Aliens movies) so only pull the calyxes with no stigmas attached.

For sure. No problem.
