And the Blackwater/Apollo dometops shaping up:

You can do it at home. The more money you can spend on equipment the lower % of contamination you’ll get. It helps to use the right tools for the job.

You can store stuff indefinitely but don’t think it’s set it and forget it. Once a plant goes into culture you’re on the clock and you’ve got timed tasks to complete.

That NS x Goji is unmistakable. Now you can see why it was so easy to ID visually.

And that Blackwater x Apollo…she is looking A LOT like her mother. How dense are those domes? Dense enough to choke off seeds?

My Blackwater is very difficult to pollinate since the flowers get so dense the inner seeds get choked off and only the outermost seeds mature fully.

Not super dense, I gave them a squeeze last night. About the same as all the others in the tent so far

Wow, thanks for the new rabbit hole to jump down, fascinating stuff! I have a base knowledge in agar/tissue culture and avoiding contamination. Do you have any recommended reading or a good stepping off point for a beginner looking to get in to plant tissue culture?

Day 53, Nigerian Sunshine x Goji and Blackwater x Apollo:

That Nigerian x Goji is fattening up nicely and it looks like some of the Apollo is beginning to present itself in the color and trichome coverage of the BW x Apollo.

Fantastic job growing these two gems out!

Here’s day 63, everything is starting to cloud up and finish, probably a week left on both of these, but I might let the NS/Goji go longer.

I’d let her get some amber another 7/10 days .

I bet that blackwater Apollo finishes first. Blackwater is really about 55 days. That purple pheno of Nigerian Sunshine is 70-ish.

Great job my friend. Thank you for taking us along on the journey and don’t forget about us as she cures into a smoke report!

Beautiful plants @Dirt_Wizard. I’m happy those are in my stash.
@SCJedi Do you like the NSxGoji or the NSxGranny Skunk better? Why?

I prefer the NSxGoji both aesthetically and smoke-wise.

Aesthetically it is hard to beat the contrast of the white pistils and purple-colored calyx and leaves.
Smoking the NSxGoji is a lot nicer than that of the NS x Granny Skunk.

Out of the Granny Skunk phenos that hunted I really only found one that played nice and it was all pine. The others were eucalyptus and sage and grew pretty funky.

We have reached the end of the line here, and it’s looking pretty damn good! Can’t wait to get a good cure on these tops while I smoke the sparkly bottoms:
