It looks a week further along!

6000 Kelvin Strips

6500 Kelvin Strips 12V

8000 Kelvin Strips

The 12 Volt 6500K strips are still a head, bigger flowers and more resin. Tho the 8000K still seem to smell the strongest, the buds and plants them self are the smallest of the lot.

Seems like a common trend, the higher spectrum generally makes for smaller leaves and less stretch. Interesting to see the final weight, ie bigger less dense buds vs smaller dense buds.

@ReikoX indeed, I find it very interresting to see the difference even tho it’s very low wattage.

Anyway figured it was time, to take a peak at how Team Putin is doing!

Putin himself is clearly, looking forward to the harvest as well!

They are 23 days into flower, and trichomes are staring to show.
Been pumping them with nutrients, running a high feedshedual for them this round.
Changed the res at 21 days, but lowered the Ec just a little. From 2nd to 3rd week they where running at 1.8 Ec, most the plants took it fine. A few loved it and started to outgrow the rest, and others didn’t love it at all.
To accommodate the smaller plants, I will give them a week at 1.6 Ec and then next week I will kick em back up to 1.8 - 1.9 or 2.0 Ec.

pH is kept around 5.8, but I let it drift between 5.6 and 6.2 pH

This pic is a few days old, from day 21 and resembles the avarage plant.

The buds are about as big as the buds in the LED closet, but these are under 55W sqft. Compared to the 25 W sqft, it’s no wonder the HID flowers grow faster and bigger. So half the wattage is not gonna cut it for flower, at least not these cheap China chips.
On the other side, the LED buds are looking great, if we don’t take size in mind.
Thricome production starts a little earlyer, not much but noticeable faster.

I have never really done defoiling, but did it as an experiment with the LED plants.
Also everybody growing LED have told me, it was the best way to get enough light to lower buds.

Did an experiment in the HPS room, with the Sk#1 hacks I moved from the LED side.
Defoiled two and didn’t defoil the 3rd, but there is a huge difference in the plants.
The defoiled once, are clearly faling behind. Less trichomes, smaller buds and both planst are now at least an inch shorter. Compared to the sister that kept all her “photosynthetic factorys”, and makes me think. I should maybe try and do a LED test more, running the LEDs at a much higher watt sqft ratio. And maybe not defoil them all, and get something to compare it to.

Team Putin 23 days 12/12

I love these early flowers, such a beautifull plant!

The 12 Volt dual row 6500K strips, is still looking like they are winning. But the 8000K strips, clearly smell more and much sweeter then the rest.

Another 4 weeks to harvest!

New shipment of strips, gonna up the sq/ft wattage.

Dual row 12 Volt 6500K , but came two strips together.

Taking them apart … I removed all the resistors.

Smoke break, while bridging all the gabs.

Mounted on a single heatsink for testing

144 chips on each “bar”

What are those “bars” you are using? Are they Hardware store stuff?

It’s all LED strips from E-bay, free shipping from china.

Around here we don’t have anything like this at the hardware store, got to order everything online.

I meant the aluminum channels you are using for heatsinks. You got those from china?

No it’s curtin hanger track, you would be able to read this if you just read my posts.

I get it at a warehouse store selling curtains, drapes, pillows and house deco stuff.
If not, IKEA have something like this.

46 Watt shared on the 3 Quad bars, powerd by two cheap china 70W drivers.

I DID read your posts and the reason I asked is because it is totally different from what you casually mention in ONE previous post and I thought this might work out for me. Sorry I asked.

My bad if I didn’t preveus mention poprely it’s curtin hanger profile, I was sure I did.
Sometimes we forget that it’s not the same everywhere.
This is the most common used, and cheapest curtin hanger system around here.

If IKEA is around your part of the world try to look at their VIDGA Rail system, if I need to upgrade my alu rails I will try this next.

Hey Palindrome, great thread man… loved the pics from your boat trip, and your experiments! Can’t wait to see the cab when it’s finished

Thank you, me either.
For now there will be a bit more testing, before I start building the six cab flower closet.

Talking about testing, it’s 7 weeks into the Spectrum test and thing are looking all right.

Right side

Left side

Come to think about it, it might not be the dual row 12 Volt stips, making the difference in the left side.
Maybe it’s the Garden gnome, thats having a positive effect on the plants. no? okay…

Let’s take a look at the different plants and buds

6000 Kelvin Strips

6500 Kelvin 12V Strips

8000 Kelvin Strips

The Ec have been reduced down around 1.6 ec at 5.8 pH, for the 8th week.
It’s the last week, before I start flushing these little ladys.
Or so is the plan, I will be looking for ambers in the end.
