out of all the afghan types, profiles youve found…what’s been the most unique longlasting effects that stand out to you out of it all? obviously id like to know what you felt was the strongest haha
It was radically different than anything around today. My pre 88 G13HP has that roadkill skunk smell but back then the intensity of that skunk… not imagination and that is for sure.
Definitely not imagination lol that skunkiness would hang in the air like humidity. Up north as kids we smoked alot in the woods because people just expected skunk smells to come from there anyway ![]()
Definitely not imagination, we were also growing NL and Blueberry and Skunk was very, very different from anything then or now. The Afghan may have contributed some of the funk, but the fresh skunk spray is what I haven’t seen in decades and likely from whatever sativa was in it as it also had “sativa leaning hybrid” leaves, not the fat maple leaf leaves we see all over in Affies today (at least what we were growing outdoors).

The most unique terps is definitely not in foul realm, but I’ve found plants that smell exactly like Thai fried chicken with sweet chili sauce. When you cracked the yar it just filled the room. Maybe not what you hoped for, but I’ve never smelled cannabis like it, especially that have such an exact and complex aroma.
The strongest Afghans was from seeds I got from an Afghan family who wanted me to produce traditional hash for them and it was 100% sativa individuals which was just mind melting. They were suuuper secretive with what area the seeds was from, but my best guess is that it’s from the Nuristan area.

My friend grew a few plants on her windowsill. They were teeny tiny and one of them was male. The seeds came from her son who previously lived in Humboldt Ca . Anyways I rubbed the pollen and it was skunky Af. Also lemony with Eucalyptus. Of course I took home some pollen. Ill use a dab of the daddy powder to make a few testers and see what might happen. If I end up with something good , Ill let yall know in about 1 year.

It seems most Afghan varaties are physical highs so its interesting that somehow there are pure cerebral varaties that served the region, and it seems theres only one last region in which they still may be.
There is alot of talks of this cut from PNW called DogShit. it seems theres a sativa nammed electric boogaloo, but there is also an indica variety known as Dogshit that apparently does smell like a turd when placed on the table, to your experience would you say this is a pure afghani such as lets say garlic bud?
did you ever come across some Afghan varaties that were pure from region and smoked in flower amazing as oppose to hash, or both?
That is a terpene called skatole, it’s rather uncommon in large enough amounts to smell of puppy poo but is possible in the right plants.
The garlic smelling strains most def have this in them.
I posted somewhere on this site the genetics of the various dogshit plants or what is at least commonly accepted to be.
yes Skatole usually contributes to the savoury, or enhancing other profiles in small amounts, but to find it as a dominate profile leaning to its turd smell only I was wondering if that exists and is the high cerebral as DMT as skatole shares the same molecular struccture.
I think of Garlic as the Skatole Lite. not its dominant chemo
It can smell fruity or like poo depending on the mix of other things going on but the garlic strains do test positive for it in small amounts.

I’ve tried a wet ferment with a quick dry and found it worked real well.
Back when Skunk bud was a thing, weed was getting harvested and placed anywhere to dry.
Neighbor’s car, barn, basement, anywhere, and usually never dried and cured like today’s weed.
I cut. Dried for a few days in sheets and cloths so they weren’t wet wet, but still far from dry.
Then into garbage bags for a day or two, sealed, to let them start fermenting.
Then dried in the sun.
Then tote cured.
Insanely skinny.
Best in the valley.
Held like that for half a year til I lost the rest in a fire.
But, between the propane tanks and the bullets going off in the fire, I couldn’t get close enough to the fire to enjoy all my hard work going up in flames.
…it was damned tempting to reach into the fire to save even just one of the jars of rare seeds I had.
But, people with more sense pulled me away.
I’m curious if any of the people who have been sobbing (Malawi fermenting) have come across skunky along the way.
I haven’t done any cobbing attempts yet, so I’m not sure if that’s a valid route for skunkiness.
But that wet ferment I did definitely did the trick. Most of the genetics were Diesels - hybrids, backcrosses, and increases.

While growing and drying yes but the finished product is complex and ranges from puppy breath/poo to a old school greenbud flavor with a hint of lemon cleaner , almost like you ground up a couple different strains together and the smells are fighting each other.
Also has a strong camphene profile when it’s fresh.
That’s wild stuff! I’ve done the Tangwena (sic I’m sure, it’s been a while) method of vacuum sealing and heat on a schedule and it was all cocoa and a soft spice that was the smoothest smoke ever, but after a year in the cob I didn’t notice any difference in potency from the same flower I cured in jars when I tested them side by side. Makes the smoke smoother for sure but lost all trace of the Zipolite Oaxacan x Acapulco Gold that it started as in terms of smell and flavor. Just my one experience, @DragonflyCoyoteSmoke is a total ninja with these curing styles and makes me want to try it again ![]()
