The Wife and the Mistress, a tale of two loves

Hey everyone,

Well, its been a while since I’ve had some plants going due to the CA fires as well as having to relocate due to life and changing grad programs. But now I’m up and running again, and trying out a few new things. First thing, I’ve completely switched my nutrient line from organic bottle nutes to a combo of organic bottle nutes (as supplement and support) while running GLNs “Vegan” 2 part hydro line along with their sweet candy. Thing 2, instead of running in a “pure” hydro set up, I’ve switched over to recirculating coco as my set up. Thing 3, originally I started running some of BOGs sour grapes and germed 6 and cloned the same 6. With the plan being on keeping those as my seed mothers and flowering out the clones so I can sex them and see who the lucky girl is that im gonna end up keeping (and possibly if I find a stud male saving some pollen). I was recently reading on another forum and one of my favorite breeders, Useful Seeds, dropped some packs of Chocolate Skunk #2 [American Skunk Selection (bodhis cut) x Chocolate D], so I picked one up and soaked 2 beans. Saturday they went in some coco.

As for the Sour Grapes clones, when I checked on em this morning I only saw 1 that had legit roots (ill post a pic of it tonight when the lights come on); but when more of em start showing ill start adding more pics…

Heres the 6 moms and their respective clones in the clone dome. Currently, I’m noticing there might be 2 or 3 potential phenos based on leaf shape and overall plant structure. But we’re gonna find out! So, with the grapey goodness strains being so close to my heart, BOGs Sour Grapes is truly gonna be the one I appreciate to come home to… But that delicious temptation of having that stanky sweet goodness waiting for me whenever I want, truly makes this grow a wife and a mistress… I hope you all like this grow log, and as soon as the clones start shooting more roots and the 2 chocolate skunks pop above ground ill post some more pics.
Stay frosty everyone!

A quick little update…

Looks like one of the Chocolate Skunks decided to join the party!

And here is a beefy root shot of one of the clones. Hopefully, the others catch up to this one!

Awesome, finally got roots on all the clones so they went into some coco last night!

I fucked up and got a little lazy and dunked em in a 1.0-1.1 EC nute solution (that I was feeding the moms) and it burned em a little bit. Interestingly, the seedlings also looked burned but just have been getting water? I wonder if it has to do with the high levels of humidity? None the less, we’ll keep pushing onward! Once the clones recover (I assume ~2 weeks max), they’ll go in 1 gal pots before their final resting place of 5 gal fabric pots…

I’ve got some bogglegum to grow next! I’ll be watching your sour grapes grow!

I was considering doing the same as you, clone them all to choose a favorite… then make more

Wow, looking great! Can’t wait to see your grow

Started feeding the seedling about two days ago at ~0.6 EC and they seem to be taking to it nicely!

Heres a shot of one of the BOGs Sour Grape’s main stems…

I feel like this plan is gonna be an absolute unit when I get her clone into flower… Almost the size of a white board marker!

The seedlings and clones are coming along nicely!

The seedlings & clones are being fed 2x a day (about to be bumped up to 3x) at an EC of 0.8. And the all of the Sour Grape clones are ready to be put into their 1 gal pots before being put into their final resting place (5 gal fabric pots).

This is what the bottoms of these solo cups look like on average (roots coming out the bottom)!

The “moms” are also doing really well, I was having a bit of an Mg deficiency there for a minute due to my RH levels being WAY to high (was getting up to 90% sometimes…). But it appears to be all cleared up and they’re doing fantastic! I included a leaf shot of one of them to show just how hardy BOGs SG is! Doing some stem rubs, a few of them have the “classic” weed smell. Others have a musky sweet, and 1 of them has a very sweet/sour smell to it, its hard to put my finger on, but the smell is almost like the flavor of when you’re eating sour patch kids. Has that kinda sharp sour note, but also overall sweet. Im hoping that one is a female cause the terps on her I figure are impressive!

Hey hey everyone! So the ladies need a bit taken off of the top today…

All of them have a pretty uniform smell (sweet and musky), but one of them just has this incredibly “sour patch kid” smell to it. Similar to how sour patch kids taste is how this lady smells… Its has a sour smell on the front end, like the taste of citric acid, but then it goes into a really candy sweetness. Im truly hoping its a female cause the flavor that would come out of that would be absolutely incredible (as long as she holds those terps throughout flower).

The clones and the Choc. Skunks are also doing fantastic! I topped them off so they by the time theyre transplanted into their flower pots I might decide to top em one more time or just let em do their thing. BOG recommended to top them at least once…

So I am going to follow the masters guidance!
The Choc. Skunks both are already at their first 3-set after only a week and a half (~11 days), and theyre plugging along nicely!

Ahhh there we go! A bit of breathing room as well as removing apical dominance to allow for better bushy growth for future cloning!

And heres a pic of the clones that have been topped as well.

So being that everything is more or less just vegging and getting bigger, my next update is going to be at the beginning of March when I am ready to clone the Choc. Skunks, and also transplant the Sour Grapes into their final resting place (5-gal fabrics). Ill also include some root porn on everything… Side note, I’m REALLY enjoying going back to coco… I forgot how explosive the root growth is as well as how much the plants seem the flourish in it. I cant wait to test my theory out on whether or not I can run coco like “live soil” but feed it like you would a standard hydro set up. Currently, they’re only being fed 3x a day. In flower, I plan on having them be fed 6x a day. Hopefully, everyone’s year is going great, and Ill see you all in March!

Lets get this back on track! Had to do some pretty massive defoliations as the person who was taking care of my plants didnt really know what they were doing… So I am gonna let them recover a bit and then start taking more vanity shots! But for a quick update, both of the Chocolate Skunks (along with everything else) became fucking massive. So I cloned both of them along with put them in some 1 gal pots. Next up is to wait for the weather here to warm up juuuust a bit more so i can move the mothers into a non heated area, and start the flowering process… Im hoping in another 2 or 3 weeks.

So I picked up a couple of clones from the club with plans to make them mothers and expand my genetic library. Unfortionetly, both had pests and one had PM… And that really bummed me out. So, to cheer me up, I popped some beans!
Going into coco+perlite today is 2 of Useful Seeds Double Dipped Strawberries (Chocolate Covered Strawberries F2 from Exotic Genetics x Chocolate Diesel reversed)

The one on the right was having a bit of issue’s with germing so I assisted it via the sharpie method and this is the result of the next day!
And the other 2 varietals I popped, was again some Useful Seeds, Kosher Tangie (Kosher Kush x Tangie)

Gonna throw em in the veg tent with some humidity bags and see how long they take to come above ground!

Transplant day is here!

Pulled the ladies (hopefully) out of their 1gal pots and put them into their final resting place 5 gal fabric pots!

Currently im waiting for some more coco to expand so once everything is said and done, I can get some final transplant shots for ya!
