Please surprise me!
Also what makes them not- a dehydrator?

Haha in the early days I nuked a harvest in my mom’s fruit dehydrator.
Basically making ABV. Do not cure with heat under any circumstances. I’m fairly certain this does not need to be said and most know the importance of cool slow cure.

Absolutely LOVE my HerbsNow Dryer! Got one last season and I’ll be using it again this year.
I’m not one of those people that has a place with an AC running to bring temps down. I’m someone who typically has at least partially seeded plants, grown outdoors.
I was pleasantly surprised by how consistently the device performed and the results it gave. I was especially happy to not be picking seeds up off the floor of the drying area… but rather collecting them from the tray in the HerbsNOW dryer.
Is this the Porsche of drying methods, I wouldn’t say that, but it’s a solid Honda. Practical, always gets the job done with little cost/maintenance.

I must admit I have been skeptical about this machine but was holding back judgment until I got more info. It’s great to hear from a user of the machine. So, how did it work? How long did the process take?

So, how did it work?
Like a toaster. Simple. Set it and forget it. I’ve tried it with the buds standing up, with the buds broken into chicken nugget sized bits and laid flat, and buds not broken up and laid flat with every other tray level removed. Each time, it wasn’t quite done in 3 days, but was in four days (machine defaults to 96 hours runtime).
In terms of my environment, the ambient temps are typically 70-100F when I’m drying. In other words, my low end is the upper range for craft/slow drying… as well as the temperature range the product maker’s website suggests to use the product in. My ambient humidity is typically 40-50%. So I’m not working with ideal conditions, but have found good results.
I’m not sure what the temperature is that the machine operates at, and their website states “the unit stays within the optimal temperature range for drying herbs”. If I hold my hand above the machine with the top off, it feels like a fan blowing in the ambient temperature I have in my environment.
One thing to note here is that I do lose some nose on the flower after it’s done drying. I assume that’s due to the elevated temperature. If I just hang the plants with a box fan in the room, it takes 7ish days and I lose a little less scent on the flower. However, in both cases, two weeks in a glass jar with a 62% humidity pack and that nose is back with a vengeance.
Speaking of smell, the carbon filter tray they offer helps keep the smell down a bit, but it’s not going to keep apartment neighbors unaware, so if you need to dry in secret, plan on putting this unit in a tent with a professional carbon filter and air system.

I don’t think it says the temp anywhere on the website that I can find. This is something I would need to know. “Optimal temp” means nothing I want hard numbers.

Nothing against the product/company but my experience with it is I borrowed my buddies awhile back since he doesn’t use it to try before deciding if I wanted to buy one and glad I did. I tried with a couple plants and it dried them for sure but at the end they had no smell and no taste. Could’ve been user error, but I tried more than once and got the same results every time even used the shot glass of water to help keep from drying so fast to no avail. I gave it back to him and went back to hanging the whole plant. Like I said could’ve been me or my ambient conditions but it didn’t work as well as hanging for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience! You’re right—user technique and ambient conditions can impact results. HerbsNOW dries buds while preserving their natural plant smell, which differs from traditional hanging. Some users adjust their curing process to enhance aroma and flavor. We appreciate you giving it a shot, and if you ever try again, we’re happy to offer tips! Too bad you never reached out.

If speed and consistency is what you are after I could see this filling that need.

We have spoken before on higher temp curing… i lean to it is helpful within careful guidlines.
But heres my issue… if the herbsnow dries at 80 f … then whats so different from doing this in a whole room as 80 F consistently isnt hard to achieve… nor is a particular humidity controlled at that temp.
So why buy an herbs now vs use a closet or room with temp/humidity control ? Seems like its achievable without it. Am i missing something?

Yes, the drying chamber is hard to mimic. You can not do the same thing in a large room. You can not keep the air consistent. That is what you are mising👍 Scott
What is the temp range on this machine?
The dryer is set to a temp range that retains max terps and pontency from the strain you grew. Depending on the room environment dryer will stay in the high 70’s to low 80’s. This is the temp range that beat multi times in lab testing side by side slow and low temp drying.
If my conditions are already warm and dry, then how does this differ from just putting the cannabis on a table and air drying?
