Well heading into fall girls are getting big here’s a toilet paper tube reference for trunk girth!
one girl in box 1Girl in box 2
Today the girls are going to get the spa treatments a good soaking of a molasses/ mung bean tea 5 gallons per box
I used a bit over 2 cups of molasses for 15 gallons of brew… then I’ll split the bean tea as evenly as possible between the buckets
Next will be the remainder of earlier compost bin goodies as well as the last of the comfrey cuttings that will be all top dressed and watered in !
How long will this molasses/bean tea last on a shelf?
Good Stuff @Tinytuttle. Thanks
Do you dry the comfrey out before use or just chop it and drop it? Too many questions? Thanks!
No need to shelve it sprout your beans 3 days grind them up in a blender and adding it to the molasses water, all immediatel use items freshness is important!
Not at all questions are great it’s a chop and drop type thing ! Comfrey breaks down very easily and is one of the best quick compost items to use a perfect C:N ratio .
What do mung beans do? Oh and is your comfrey a complete water whore like mine? Man, I flood that bed and a day or two later she’s wilting.
My comfrey is in the north side of my house in the shade most of the day in really good soil Iv only watered it a few times this year… is yours in pots or the ground ? Mung bean provides phosphorus or potassium or both might have to look that one up bit I’m leaning phosphorus on this one.
@Meesh it could’ve that the comfrey roots may not be well established and deep enough yet.
The one I put in the ground. She gets a lot of sun. Didn’t know she was a shade plant
Ya mine get few hours in the morning then a few towards late afternoon but for the most part their in shade for Like 8 hrs a day.
Howdy, I guess you have another thread, too! heh.
My comfrey was moved to the mostly shade because they would dry out fast if I missed it… One is in the ground in the center of a tire planer. The other two are in pots and are actually doing better. The chickens got in the tire planter and kept digging it out until I put a barrier up around it. So, that one is slow to get back with the others. I read where they like being moist but not wet. It’s so dry here that the shade is the only way for me. Boy, they look great now, too.
I’m tagged for this thread now, too @Tinytuttle. I’m really digging all of the rejuvenation gardening info on OG and I’m trying to soak it all in. I was slow to getting into make your own brews and fertilizers, but I’m getting closer. It’s really fun stuff to me. Thanks for sharing yours!
Ya I have a 2018 thread also I start a new one every year with every upcoming grow season outdoors it’s fun there’s always new things I like to dabble in here and there, this year was centered around a few KNF inputs … the homemade liquid soap I picked up is something that’s going to stay with me from here on out though!
Early frost warnings are setting in for Colorado this year! … I’m going to be gone for a week watering schedule will be left up to the wife will get back to you fine folks next week with some pics to share!
Is the soap making thing in this thread? I’d love to check that out. I’ve always loved knowing how to make and do things myself.
Those fans are huge! Looking massive. RESPECT…
Have a great time away Tiny.
