Tips on growing in a wet, humid climate

Reminder…copper collars for slug/snail protection. Had plants out one night without them and the slugs and snails had started to hone in. Yet again, 2 seeds planted directly in the ground had no slug or snail damage, while those in cups were hit just feet away. One seed planted in the ground is a Pulga parvati . Another one overwintered and came up on its own around Easter . The wild sprout is from a purple malawi ( best guess). Not sure why, but seeds planted directly into the ground are not attacked by snails and slugs. Maybe the connection to soil microbes is key? Tougher stalk? I’m not saying a snail or slug won’t take a bite eventually, but the seedlings have not been bothered in my experience and I don’t recall putting copper collars around plants that sprout wild. They don’t need it. Anyone else notice this? Are yr slugs less picky? I encourage anyone with some extra seeds to experiment. Plant 10 in the ground and let them germinate on their own. Then take 10 and plant them indoors and put them outside when they are 4 inches tall and place them next to the other plants and see what happens. Interested to see if anyone else has the same experience or if it’s only the particular varieties I’ve grown

Bob. How are you? Good news if yr looking for the quicker malawis. A guy on instagram says his purple malawi f2s were indeed purple and finished between 9 and 11 weeks. I was apparently mistaken in my belief that this trait was not yet fixed in the line and was very rare. Most of his f2s were purple and some green. Very good mold resistance on the slightly looser buds ( still real nice) and goid resistance on the tighter nug pheno.

I’m good man, my seeds are so close to being done but not quite there but I’m the home stretch now! That sounds excellent about the purple malawi I’ll be popping a few photos soon so a few of the ones I have will be included. How are you doing? Jobs and everything are starting to open up round here and we are having record numbers going to beaches and public places so it looks like it’s all getting going again.

Almost done with those plants already? Boy time flies. Glad to hear you’ll pop a few purp malawis. Yeah things are getting back to normal around here too. Its Memorial Day weekend here so people are everywhere. Happy to see it. Hopefully things get back to normal for everyone. I decided to be done with covid a week and a half ago. I dont watch or listen to anything about it on the news. Too fake. Once you wake up to their fakeness there isno going back. Glad to hear people are getting back to their routines.

These are the snails I got off one plant in my location. They were put in this spot a day earlier. Copper collars work as an effective, permanent barrier. Next time I’ll show slugs… lol. Wet spot for sure!

I grew in the tops of trees one year, stealth of course was a pain. grew in fields of corn but al;wasy a few rows in

worst thing i did was it was a real dry year, i was growing outside and lugging water was getting to be a bit much so i xplanted a plant in the bottom of a deep dry ditch, everything was fine it grew real well in august it started to flower and then we got this huge rain, was kinda funny looking down and seeing my 5 foot plant under 3 feet of water, the water lasted to long the plant held out for awhile but then died.

Ah the trials and tribulations of a gorilla grower.
Way too many memories, a crapshoot at best.
