I like them.. the pineapple I'm doing right now was planted straight into the soil when I started seeing root end popping the sides and bottom...
Then I just watered around the pot and let the roots grow to the moisture..
They seem to have little to no trouble breaking through the pot itself though..
I have one in my compost from a male I cut and considering it's been in soil of some type for a couple months it's not really breaking down the way I'd expect..
On the bad end of the spectrum.. for those of us that grow fungi as well, the pots do tend to break out in trichoderma (a fungus that's everywhere, just very unideal when growing edible fungus)
