Tony Greens Tortured Beans

This is a clone of the mom who is mid-veg currently. I have her setup for flowering in the next few weeks, super stoked to see what she produces! Will certainly share how it goes :hear_no_evil:

Just got around to weighing out this plant as I graded and bagged them into Groves to heat seal for long-term cold curing in the fridge: even after smoking about a quarter to half ounce of testers along the way, the final weight (tops and lowers, but IMO I see less difference with Tony’s strains than most) came out to six ounces, two of big rocky tops and four of solid smaller tops and lowers. That’s my best yet off a single plant, and definitely the highest total quality, most are more like three zips of tops and good smalls and then an ounce or two of more larfy stuff. This was a G-Unit fem seed (so different dad than the regs, reversed dometop GB BX5) grown in my recycled living soil mix with additional Osmocote Plus 15-9-12 (with 1.2% mag and 6% sulfur and complete micros) six month time released prills for a hybrid nute regimen, it was an experiment that worked great! Currently trying Jack’s 10-30-20 as an alternative test in my current grow, also working nicely but more work and different ratios obviously.

when I first learned to grow back at the start of the 90’s (89) and untill about 99, I grew with what my mentor taught me … Peters 20-20-20 from start to end of week 2 flowering where we would switch to Peters 10-52-10 with some powders I had to weigh in addition to the peters. They never told me what was in that bag but I always got it from my mentor by the 5lb bag which was just a big ziploc. Looking back I wish they had told me what was in that bag LOL but apparently is was some trade secret.
From 99 on I used General Hydro flora and basically ran what today is called the lucas formula. Only recently General Hydro doesn’t sell to Canada anymore so i have been scrambling. I’m thinking of switching to Jacks (peters) as it is readily availlable online although I might be able to get the feed/tack and garden supply to bring it i for me.

anyhow… this one is in the tom hill recipe off the old overgrow archives and I fed her three times during the flowering cycle. Once with Alaska Fish MoreBloom 0-10-10(15ml/gallon) and Holland Secret hardwater micro 5-0-2 (8ml/gal) then 2 feedings of GardenPro Superbloom 10-40-25 using the indoor feeding suggestion of 5ml/gal per gallon vs the outdoor 15ml/gal. She might get one more boost here and then water only to the end. Today is day 59 of 12/12 so I might just start watering her off.

Stat Line … smelling like sugary sweet (non fruit) fuel… such an awesome smell coming from her and her resin is really greasy. I have a struggling clone of this plant that might make it but she’s pretty hurtin. fingers crossed as I’d like to run this one again indoor. I have more seeds to look thru though.

Your buds are looking good . May I suggest you check out plant prod mj line of dry fertilizer. I’ve had really good luck using it.

i think you mentioned that to me a little while back. I will check them out. I’ve used plant prod for the veggie planters and tomatoes but not for weed. That was before they had a dedicated mj line though. Thanx for the suggestion/reminder

ya I think she is a hard SFV leaner as she doesn’t remind me of any gorilla bubble I have grown. I’m really looking forward to sampling her once she’s cured up.

Here is some Ol’ Dirty Bubble in the morning sunshine. Really packing it on now, smelling chemmy/gassy…yummy. Showing fantastic resistance to multiple outdoor pressures in the northeast. No pm, budrot or leaf septoria—that’s saying something this year!

Giving off a light lime zest aroma underneath the dank smell.

The pics do a poor job showing just how chunky those tops are. I’m a fairly new grower and still have a hard time letting go of the lowers when lollipopping.

Scoped the trichs last night and most are cloudy, don’t think I saw any amber yet. Should be done within the next week.

This question is open to the whole community

What kind of difference do you think stripping all of those lowers really makes? Is it a gram for gram difference that your tops will swell? I keep it tidy but I keep a lot of lower buds. We make a lot of budder so in theory, I think it makes sense for me to burn up those lower smaller janks in the cooking process than to decarb a bunch of pretty tops.

First off it takes away a large percentage of the chance of herms , as they can be light starved etc. and cause nanners. Secondly it focuses the production to the tops which are always tastier, more potent ime and also gives ample room for airflow around the base etc. which really helps to cut down on bud rot/ pm etc. and makes for an easier trim

Smart. That makes sense and always why I get feedback that people find a few seeds in my shit. It’s those lower bitches.
